MHT CET 2018 Exam Pattern

MHT CET 2018 Exam Pattern provides details of test like exam duration, question paper type, marking scheme, total number of questions, etc. Marks distribution given will help candidate decide which portion to focus on while preparing for the exam. Complete details of MHT CET 2018 exam pattern can be checked through this article.

  • MHT CET 2018 will be conducted through offline (pen and paper based) mode
  • The paper will be conducted for 90 minutes.
  • The medium is English, Marathi and Urdu
  • MH CET will comprise of three papers, each of 100 marks.
  • MHT CET will comprise objective type questions.
  • Since there are 3 papers in MHT CET, it is mandatory for candidates seeking admission to engineering courses to appear for both Paper I and Paper II.
  • For candidates seeking admission to Pharmacy courses, it is mandatory to appear for Paper II and Paper-I or Paper-III.
  • MHT CET syllabus is based on syllabi covered in 10+2 examination of HSC Board of Maharashtra. 

DTE Maharashtra conducts MHT CET (Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test) to shortlist candidates for admissions to B.E/B. Tech and B.Pharm programs. It is scheduled to be conducted in the third week of May 2018 (tentatively). Those students, who have passed their class XII or equivalent examination and wish to pursue undergraduate programs in engineering and pharmacy, are eligible to apply for MHT CET 2018.

MHT CET 2018 Exam Pattern in Detail

MHT CET 2018 will comprise of three papers - Physics and Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, and Mathematics. All three subjects will have different papers and candidates must appear and clear all these separately to seek admission in engineering or pharmacy courses. For engineering Paper 1 and Paper 2 are mandatory while for pharmacy courses candidate must appear in Paper 2 and choose between Paper 1 or Paper 3.

Following is the exam pattern of MHT CET 2018 in detail:

  • MHT CET 2018 will be conducted in offline mode only i.e. candidates will attempt the exam in pen paper based mode.
  • The test will consist of three question papers.
  • Each paper is of 100 marks.
  • The medium for examination shall be English, Marathi or Urdu for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • However, Mathematics paper shall be in English only.
  • Paper 1 will be of Mathematics, Paper 2 will be Physics and Chemistry and Paper 3 will be of Biology (Zoology and Botany).
  • One and half hour’s duration is given to each section.
  • Schedule of examination is such that Paper I will be conducted from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Paper II will be from 12.30 p.m. to 02.00 p.m. and Paper III will be from 03.00 p.m. to 04.30 p.m.

Note that exam will be conducted at all the district headquarters in the State of Maharashtra.


MHT CET 2018 Marking Scheme

All three papers are of 1000 marks each. However, the marking scheme is different in Paper 1 and Paper 2 and 3. Each correct answer will be given mark/(s). There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.

Candidate seeking admission to Engineering degree courses must appear for both Paper I and Paper II and candidate seeking admission to Pharmacy degree course must appear for Paper II as well as in Paper-I and/or Paper-III.

Important Instructions

MHT CET is a pen paper based test. Candidates will be provided with OMR answer sheets with each question paper. At the end of each paper, candidate must hand over the OMR Answer sheet to the invigilator. Candidates are permitted to take the Question Booklet outside the exam centre. Following are some instructions to follow while answering on OMR sheet.

  • The candidates are required to mark the correct answer by blackening the corresponding circle against the serial number of the question in the answer sheet with black ballpoint pen only.
  • Candidate should not use any other method for answering in OMR sheet like Half circle, tick mark, or cross etc. This may not be read by the machine.
  • The candidates must fully satisfy themselves about the accuracy of the answer before darkening the appropriate circle, as no change in the answer once marked is allowed.
  • Answer sheet will be evaluated by computerized scanning method only. So, candidates should completely darken one and the only one best response (circle).
  • Please do not fold the OMR sheet and do not make any stray marks on it.
