TSICET Syllabus for Analytical Ability

TSICET Syllabus for Analytical Ability consists of two parts: data sufficiency and problem-solving. TSICET (Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test) is conducted by TSCHE (Telangana State Council for Higher Education) every year. Through this entrance examination, deserving candidates get admission into the MBA and MCA courses offered by the colleges and universities in Telangana State.

TSICET 2018 will take place tentatively in May 2018.It is a pen and paper based examination. Candidates who have applied for TSICET must know the syllabus in detail so that they can prepare well for the examination. Candidates can download TSICET 2018 syllabus from the official website (www.tsicet.nic.in). The question paper of TSICET is divided into three parts: analytical ability, mathematical ability and communication ability.

The question paper of TSICET is of 200 marks. The duration of the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes. 75 marks are allotted to the analytical ability section. The analytical ability section is further divided into two parts: data sufficiency and problem-solving. 20 questions are asked from data sufficiency and 55 questions are asked from problem-solving. Each question carries one mark. There is no negative marking in TSICET.


TSICET Syllabus 2018 for Analytical Ability

75 questions, each carrying one mark is asked in the analytical ability section of TSICET. Therefore, candidates need to know all the chapters and topics that are included in the analytical ability section in order to score well in the examination. Multiple choice questions are asked in the examination. The detailed TSICET syllabus for analytical ability is listed below:

  1. Data Sufficiency

Data Sufficiency is the first part of the analytical ability section. 20 marks are allotted to questions from data sufficiency. Each question carries one mark. In data sufficiency, a question will be given. Data will be provided in the form of 2 statements labeled as (i) and (ii).

Candidates should choose option 1 if the data given in (i) is sufficient enough to answer the question. Candidates should choose option 2 if the data given in (ii) is sufficient enough to answer the question. Candidates should choose option 3 if the data given in (i) and (ii) are needed to put together to answer the question. Candidates should choose option 4 if the data given in (i) and (ii) are not sufficient enough to answer the question and additional data is required.

  1. Problem Solving

Problem Solving is the second part of the analytical ability section. 55 marks are allotted to questions from problem-solving. Here too, each question carries one mark. Problem-solving is further divided into four sections which are listed below:

  • Sequences and Series: This is the first section in problem-solving. 25 questions are asked from this section. The topics that candidates need to study for answering questions from this section are analogies of numbers and alphabets, missing number in a series or a sequence, fill in the blanks by following a pattern such as a:b::c:d relationship, etc.
  • Data Analysis: This is the second section in problem-solving. 10 questions are asked from this section. The topics that candidates need to study for answering questions from this section are tables, graphs, bar diagrams, Venn diagrams, pie charts and passages. Data will be given to candidates in the form of tables, Venn diagrams or graphs. They need to answer questions pertaining to the given data.
  • Coding and Decoding Problems: This is the third section in problem-solving. 10 questions are asked from this section. In this section, a code pattern of English alphabets will be given to candidates. They need to code or decode a group of letters or a word on the basis of the given code pattern.
  • Date, Time and Arrangement Problems: This is the fourth section in problem-solving. 10 questions are asked from this section. The topics that candidates need to study for answering questions from this section are clock problems, calendar problems, seating arrangements, blood relationships, arrivals departures and schedules, symbol and notation interpretation.

Candidates who are preparing for TSICET must know a few tips that will help them to prepare better for the examination. Candidates must study sincerely as the analytical ability section needs a lot of practice. Here are some preparation tips that will help candidates to crack the analytical ability section of TSICET:

  • Candidates must collect question banks published by reputed publishers and distributors.
  • Solving the question banks will help candidates perform better in the examination.
  • Candidates must practice as much as possible.
