NEST 2017 Answer Key, Question Paper & Analysis

NEST 2017 Answer key is available on the official website of NEST i.e. www.nestexam.in. The official question paper will also be made online alongside. NEST 2017 was successfully conducted on May 27, 2017. The paper was held in offline mode. Candidates who appeared for NEST 2017 entrance exam are informed that official NEST Answer Key is available on this page.

  • Difficulty level of the paper was moderate to difficult.
  • Physics was considered to be moderate in difficulty and length, with most finding it easier than the last year.
  • Chemistry was considered the easiest of all three papers, with a difficulty curve similar to last year.
  • Mathematics was considered by most to be the most difficult of the three subjects.
  • General Ability was easiest section having good weightage in the NEST and is compulsory for all the candidates.
  • The question paper has two sets A & B and questions were asked from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & General.
  • The other 4-sections were- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology
  • All the questions were in Multiple Choice Questions format
  • The questions were aimed to check the comprehensive and analytical ability of the applicants.

Result is expected to be announced on June 16, 2017. Along with the availability of NEST Results, merit list will also be published.

NEST Merit List is defined by considering the scores of general sections along with the scores of top 3-sections from the subjects. On the basis of ranks secured in NEST Merit List, candidates will be called for counselling.


NEST 2017 Answer Key

NEST 2017 Answer Key will be accessible online after the exam. The answer key will be available as two sets A & B and questions were asked from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & General.  With the help of NEST answer key 2017, every student has the option to estimate their approximate score. The official answer keys will be published at www.nestexam.in, so students can calculate the answer in their own way. Some coaching institutes also provide unofficial NEST Answer key 2017 which are made by their subject experts. Candidates can use the answer keys for the following reasons:

  • To know the correct answer for the questions asked in the examination
  • It requires to know the solved steps and answers for the questions
  • To evaluate the candidate’s answers with the actual answer

Candidates can even challenge the answer key if they find any discrepancy. The challenges against the answer key will be referred to the exam board committees constituted by NISER (National Institute of Science Education & Research) Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS).

  2. Enter the required credentials i.e. Roll number and Date of Birth.
  3. Then, click on submit button. NEST 2017 Answer Key will be displayed.
  4. Download the Answer key and match answer with your answer.
  5. Take a print out for future reference.

NEST Paper Analysis 2017

NEST evaluated a candidate’s comprehension skills and knowledge in basic sciences. It was of 180 marks. Candidates will be shortlisted for counselling process by all the participating institutes based on the no. of seats available and NEST Cut off.

  • NEST 2017 questions were moderately difficult.
  • Most of the questions were straightforward and tricky questions were also asked.
  • In each section, there were at least five to six questions which were framed differently.
  • The section of Physics was easy and straightforward with most of the questions asked from the CBSE syllabus.
  • In Mathematics, two or three questions were lengthy and those students who relied on NCERT and other text books would have found the question paper difficult.
  • The Chemistry section was quite balanced and equal weightage was given to all topics.
  • The questions were conceptual and the topics that were not covered included States of Matter and Chemistry in Everyday Life.
  • Biology was challenging as genuine concept based tricky questions were present.
  • General Ability was easiest section having good weightage in the NEST exam and it can help you to crack the NEST Exam.

NEST 2017 Seat Intake

There are around 172 seats reserved for NISER whereas for CBS the total number of seats reserved is 47 seats for admission to integrated 5-year MSc Program. The reservation of seats for various categories would be based on norms of GOI.
