Central University of Punjab Admission through CUCET 2017

CUPB (Central University of Punjab, Bathinda) is one of the nine participating state universities offering admission through CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test). The official notification for admissions has been released by CUCET. All the applicants willing to apply for CUCET must possess the required minimum eligibility.

CUCET is a centralized combined examination that is conducted to make admissions to nine state Universities (Haryana, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kashmir, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu). Punjab University is inviting applications for admission to various UG (Under Graduate), PG (Post Graduate) and Research programs.

 Candidates have to fulfill course eligibility criteria to get admission in Central University of Punjab. This article provides all the details regarding courses offered and eligibility criteria for various courses offered by Central University of Punjab.

The admission forms will be available for CUCET 2017 Registration from March 14 2017 till April 15 2017. CUCET 2017 will be conducted on two dates i.e. May 17-18 2017. The application fee is INR 700 for general candidates and INR 300 for reserved category candidates (SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD). CUCET 2017 exam is conducted in offline mode and the exam test centers are in six cities (Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Chennai, Mumbai and Gwalior).

After the declaration of CUCET 2017Result, a merit list will be prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance. Candidates whose names appear in the merit list will be called for the admission process to the Central University of Punjab. Selected candidates need to be present for admission process with all the required documents.

CUCET 2017 Course Wise Eligibility Criteria

CUPB has prescribed separate eligibility criteria for the courses being offered under CUCET 2017. Candidates applying for these courses must fulfill all the eligibility requirements. Punjab University applicants must possess a minimum eligibility criterion of having passed Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50 percentile marks. CUCET 2017 Reservation

Reservation of seats is provided for the reserved category candidates (SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD). Here are a few provisions for applying under reservation:

  • Candidates applying under reserved category should attach the attested copies of caste certificate from a competent authority.
  • Those candidates who are suffering less than 40% of disability will not be considered under PWD category.
  • The reservation for Kashmiri and Ex-Servicemen will be considered according to the government of India rules and the availability for supernumerary seats is also there for J&K migrants and Ex- Servicemen.

Based on their respective categories the general candidates carry highest weightage and PWD candidates carry lowest weightage.

CUCET 2017 Result and Selection Process

CUCET 2017 Result will be announced on 17th June, 2017. The selections will be based on final merit list. CUCET result will be available on the official website. The merit list is prepared course wise. Selected Candidates in the final merit list will go for next round i.e. Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

For admission in Central University of Punjab, scores obtained in qualifying exam will be considered for final selection. Candidates shortlisted by merit list are considered eligible for GD round (Group Discussion) and PI round (Personal Interview).

Selected Candidates are required to submit the following documents at the time of counselling process:

  • Educational Qualification Certificates (e.g. mark sheet and degree certificate)
  • Reservation Certificates
  • CUCET 2017 Score card
