Factors Affecting IIT JAM Physics Cutoff

The cut off is the minimum marks required by the test taker to clear the exam. IIT JAM cut off 2017 depends upon the following factors:

  1. The Difficulty level of the exam: The IIT JAM 2017 physics paper was quite difficult. The questions were asked from graduation level subjects. The MCQ’s were difficult than MSQ’s. The candidates had a tough time in trying to attempt the questions. The questions involved tough calculations, so it appeared difficult to attempt maximum questions. Many candidates felt that the time was less. The cut off thus was just 14.9 for general category students.
  2. A total number of seat’s: The total number of seats in 2016 including various programs and all the IIT’s were 1634. The total includes all the seats offered to General, SC/ST and PwD category candidates. The seat matrix for 2017 will be declared by IIT delhi before the IIT JAM 2017 counselling.
  3. A total number of applicants: This year 11902 candidates took the exam. The number of seats getting filled through IIT JAM 2017 is just around 350. As the number of candidates who cleared the exam or took the exam is far greater than the minimum cut off declared, the candidate who has secured minimum cut off may not get the seat actually.
  4. Previous year cut off- The IIT JAM cut off for 2016 for physics paper was as follows:

The cut off is near to 2017 cut off. The candidates can thus get a rough idea about the IIT JEE 2017 admission from the 2016 admission.
