GCET 2018 Exam Pattern

GCET exam will be conducted in May 2018. GCET Exam Pattern and question paper is different for each course. The pattern is designed to test candidates’ aptitude and test their knowledge with standards of the chosen course. GCET 2018 Exam Pattern is conducted in 3 sections viz. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each section holds 33% weightage (75 questions) of the total paper. Total marks allotted for GCET 2018 is expected to be 225 with 2 hours’ duration for each section.

Questions asked in engineering entrance of Goa CET is of higher secondary and secondary level. The questions are asked in MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) format without any negative marking and candidates gain 1 mark for each correct response.

DTE Goa conducts GCET exam for admission to undergraduate courses like B.E., B.Pharm, BHMS, BAMS, Allied Health Sciences, B.Sc. in Nursing and B.Arch. The is exam is conducted yearly for said streams. Interested candidates can check details for GCET 2018 Exam Pattern in the article.

GCET 2018 Exam pattern

As mentioned earlier, GCET 2018 Exam Pattern is designed to test candidates’ ability to solve complex questions in minimal time possible. DTE Goa believes in upholding candidates’ confidence and thus there is no negative marking in the exam. Each correct response adds 1 mark to your final score. Marking Scheme in GCET 2018

Marking Scheme in any exam is set to decide marks allotted to each question. Marking Scheme in GCET exam follows +1 for every correct answer and no marks are deducted for incorrect responses. Questions not attempted in GCET exam does not affect total marks scored by candidates. Each question carries equal importance in the exam.

  • Correct Response: +1 marks
  • No Negative Marking

The marking scheme mentioned above is followed in each section. Candidates scoring highest according to the marking scheme will be deemed topper of the exam. All the qualified candidates will be sorted in a merit list based upon marks obtained in their GCET 2018 exam.


GCET 2018 Syllabus

Syllabus of GCET exam varies from plus one level to plus two level. The syllabus of Physics range from easy kinematic questions to complex and hard equations from Modern Physics. Chemistry Syllabus of GCET 2018 also ranges from Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Mathematics Section of GCET is considered to be most complex section of all. GCET section for Mathematics carries maximum weightage of plus one syllabus as compared to plus two.

Important Instructions for GCET 2018

Candidates appearing for GCET 2018 are advised to follow the instructions mentioned below to ensure smooth conduct of the examination. As mentioned earlier the exam will be conducted in offline mode for 6 hours:

  • Use black ball pen while GCET 2018 OMR sheet
  • You are not allowed to bring anything except GCET 2018 Admit Card and stationeries.
  • All the rough work in GCET 2018 is to be done in the space provided for it.
  • The time allotted for each section is two hours which will be not be extended in any situation.
  • The circle provided for each question in the OMR sheet is to be darkened properly and completely. Since the OMR sheets are checked digitally, there could be a possibility of incomplete circles being left out.
