NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) is a national level entrance examination which offers admission into medical courses like MBBS and BDS in several medical colleges of India. It is has conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It is scheduled every year. Candidates who will clear the entrance examination will get reservation benefit of 15% of seats in various colleges run by central government, state government and local bodies except Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Last time the exam was conducted in two stages. But now it has been only in one stage.
It generally takes place on first Sunday of May. This year it is scheduled to be on May 1, 2016. From 2006 onwards there have been reservations for SC/ST/OBC in AIPMT exam. 27% of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to OBC category.
Exam usually consists of 180 questions. It covers questions from three subjects- Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Pattern of examination has changed since 2010.
For every correct answer students will get 4 marks whereas incase of incorrect then one mark is reduced. In case of no response to an answer, candidates will not get any marks. Earlier exam was conducted as NEET (National Eligibility cum entrance test) but it again reintroduced with one stage level entrance examination. There are more than 2500 seats for MBBS course and 400 seats for BDS.
