Last Updated - December 01, 2016

The chemistry section for JEE Advanced 2017 can make or break the overall percentile of the candidate. It has a vast syllabus with tricky questions. JEE Advanced has two papers, both of them containing chemistry questions. The chemistry section has a total of 160 marks (80 in both papers). Given below are the pattern, syllabus, and other details regarding the chemistry section of JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced 2017 Pattern and Syllabus

IIT JEE Advanced has two Objective type papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers will contain questions of Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. Each paper will be of 3 hours. The language of the papers will be Hindi and English. The following is the pattern for both Paper 1 and 2:

Paper 1

Paper 1 has three parts: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each part has further 4 sections:

Section I: This section will consist of 8 MCQs with only one correct answer.

Section II: This section will consist of 4 MCQs with one or more than one correct answer.

Section III: This section has two sets of Common Data type questions. Each set will have a common data followed by 3 MCQs with only one correct answer.

Section IV: This section will have 2 Multiple Response Matching type questions. Statements of one column will have to be matched with statements in second column.

Paper 2

Paper 2 will also have the three parts which will be sub-divided into 4 sections:

Section I: This section will consist of 4 MCQs with only one correct answer.

Section II: This section will consist of 5 MCQs with one or more than one correct answer.

Section III: This section will have 2 Multiple Response Matching type questions. Statements of one column will have to be matched with statements in second column.

Section IV: This section will have 8 questions. Each question will have one correct digit answer out of 9 digit choices.
