IITs release list of prohibited items for JEE Advanced 2017

JEE advanced is on May 21, 2017, and now notification has been released regarding the list of prohibited items in JEE advanced. In 2016, the institute released a dress code, in order to minimize the malpractices, which could be used at the time of the exam.

The list is designed such that a being can come only in a pair of simple clothes and there is no jewellery allowed to be worn at the time of JEE advanced exam. The rule is applicable to both the male and female candidates.

This year, however, the ban on watches has been removed, which was there last year. But you can wear only the basic analogue watch, no digital watches are allowed.

JEE advanced items allowed list

  • JEE Advanced 2017 admit card
  • Original Photo Identity Card like Aadhaar Card, School/ College ID, Driving Licence, Passport or PAN Card
  • Black ball point pen with transparent body
  • Pencils
  • Eraser
  • Medicine (Just the pill with cover, indicating the formulae of the medicine).
  • Glasses as prescribed by the doctors
  • Basic analogue watch

Dress code in JEE advanced 2017

A dress code has been prescribed in JEE advanced exam, as increased number of students have been caught practicing the unfair means to crack the exam. The dress code is defined for both the boys and girls. Students need to follow the dress code strictly.

Dress code for boys:

  • Plain slippers have to be worn no shoes.
  • Only half sleeves T-shirt or shirt can be worn, no full sleeves shirt or t-shirt.
  • Trousers can be worn but no shorts, Bermuda’s, etc.
  • Better if the trousers are without the pocket.
  • Lower without a pocket.
  • Only doctor prescribed spectacles are allowed.

Dress code for girls:

  • Only slippers and sandals can be worn.
  • Palazzo/ salwars/leggings/lowers can be worn.
  • Big ribbons/ broach/ badge T-shirts are not allowed.
  • Tops can be worn but only half sleeves, no full sleeves are allowed.
  • Only half sleeves kurti’s can be worn.
  • No stylish glasses only simple glasses as prescribed by the doctor can be worn.
  • Sari cannot be worn by married or unmarried women.
  • big button  dresses cannot be worn
  • Mangal sutra can be worn apart from that no other neckpiece can be worn.
  • No handbags or clutches.

FAQ’s

Ques) What will happen if I need to carry a dupatta with my dress?

Ans. Change the dress you deciding to wear on that day, no long drapes are allowed to be worn on that day.

Ques) I have some infection on my face, can I apply medicine?

Ans. Yes, you can, bring the prescription of the same, bring your photo ID proof and deposit the prescription at the office after the identity has been verified. A government prescription is only accepted, no private prescription.

Ques) I have some infection on my feet, shoes are important for me, then what to do?

Ans. You can wear crocs, as they will cover your feet well and provide the space for air passing. Females have to wear plain chappals. No bellies or heels in the exam hall.

Ques) Can I wear my religious headwear?

Ans. Yes, religious headwear is allowed. But burka cannot be worn; you can only cover the head, such that face and neck are visible.

Ques) I wish to wear my earring on the day of the exam, it is part of culture what to do?

Ans. No, any kind of jewellery is not allowed.

Ques) Is 3/4th sleeve shirt allowed in the JEE advanced?

Ans. Yes, it is allowed.

Ques) Is a religious thread like “kalawa” allowed in the exam center?

Ans. No, it is not allowed. Better for a day pray to god and don’t put on any ticka or kalawa or any other band.

Ques) can I wear my fitness band, in the JEE exam hall?

Ans. No, it is not allowed.

Ques) Can I wear printed clothes?

Ans. Yes, but it is better if you wear it plain, as the loud clothing will cause a distraction to other candidates.

Ques) Can I wear chicken kurti’s at the exam center?

Ans. yes, you can wear.

Ques) Can I carry light make up at the exam center?

Ans. Yes, just that you must look same as in the photograph. Best not to carry any makeup, as the long queue of security checks up in the sun will make you lose all the makeup.

Ques) What do I have to carry with the admit card?

Ans. A photo ID proof can only be carried with the admit card.

Ques) My photo is coming blurred on the JEE advanced admit card. What to do?

Ans. Change the printout from adobe to foxit reader.

Ques) What is the last date to download the JEE advanced admit card?

Ans. May 21, 2017
