STATE LEVEL ONLINE TEST
The Anna University will conduct the TANCET various PG Courses such as MBA/MCA/M.Tech and others. TANCET 2017 will be held on March 25, 2017. The results will be declared by the mid of April. The candidates who qualify the exam will be called for the counselling process.
TANCET is an offline exam. The duration of the exam is 2 hours. The exam consists of 100 questions each. A correct answer fetches the candidate 1 mark while 1/3rd mark is deducted for a wrong answer. It consists of 5 sections namely Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Analysis of Business Situations.
With the exam fast approaching, it is essential to study judiciously for it. Revise important topics and go through your notes and study guides thoroughly. Here are a few last week preparation tips for TANCET MBA 2017 with reference to each section.
This section will assess your English language skills like usage of grammar, vocabulary, punctuations, etc. This section consists of 20 questions. An attempt of 12-15 problems can help you score well in this section. Spotting errors is the most important question. Solve exercises from reference books to help you in finding errors. Try the elimination method if you can't arrive at the answer directly. Usually the error spotting is easy.
The questions based on vocabulary are generally not those from regular use. So learning new words at the last minute isn’t advisable. Revise words you have already learnt and use flashcards. Flashcards should be such that for the word given, the antonym and synonym are also written. Read idioms and phrases, proverbs as fast as you can.
These can be done quickly and so you will not lose out on such questions. The grammar questions asked are of the basic level. The best way to solve such questions is by elimination method. For cloze test, try to link the sentences and check the tense. Read thoroughly and use words frequently used. A list of important topics is given below. This section assesses your skill to answer passage based questions. It evaluates candidate’s ability to comprehend information from given passages. It consists of 4 passages with 5 questions each. The passages are usually lengthy and time consuming. The difficulty level is easy to moderate. The passages have questions based on central theme, inference. Read each passage as quickly as possible. Answer the questions quickly after analyzing the passage.
If you feel it is very lengthy then the better method to at least get some answers is to first read the questions then find the answers. In doing so, you save a lot of time. To prepare for this section, read passages asked previously in TANCET MBA. Time yourself so it helps you. You can also refer to a copy of the Wren & Martin for this section. It has sample passages that has questions on most aspects covered in the English section.

This section will assess your mathematical aptitude. The level of difficulty is easy to moderate. It is considered the most scoring section of TANCET MBA. An attempt of 15-18 questions will help you get a good score. The questions are of graduate level. Practicing problems is the only way to ace this section.
With only a little time left, read solved questions. By doing this, you come across various types of problems. Solve only those questions you are not confident about at this time. Learn formulae thoroughly. This will help you in solving some numericals from topics you haven’t studied. Many problems from Percentage are asked so do not leave this topic. The important topics are as given below:
This section will analyse your data sufficiency for answering questions by using data given and applying your knowledge of mathematics and use of day to day facts. The level of difficulty is easy to moderate. Most questions are from the mathematical background. Questions from topics like mensuration, numbers, equations and ratio proportion are asked. The numerical problems are considered easy.
The questions that students get confused about are data sufficiency problems with directions. Data sufficiency questions with directions do not need you to arrive at an answer. You only have to analyse whether the given data is sufficient to get the answer.
It is hence paramount to read the questions carefully. Do not attempt questions from topics wherein the concepts are not clear. Do not assume any information. Remember ‘NO’ is also an answer for the directions questions. Read the directions carefully as they might change the order of directions for different problems. Solve problems from previous year's papers to get a clear idea. Analysis of the problem is important. A list of important topics is given below. Brush up your concepts for these topics.
This section evaluates candidate's ability to identify date critically. This data must be applied to make business decisions for given situations related to management and business. The candidate may have to identify whether the point given at the end of the paragraph is an investment decision, involves risk, etc. It may also be required to analyse whether the point given is an assumption, objective or a factor. The passages are very lengthy. Hence read the passages as quickly as possible.
The answers are sometimes straight forward while they can also be hidden in the details. This section can also have questions that use bar graphs, pie charts, case lets and tables. Read questions carefully. Questions can also be based on data that is interpreted. For solving such questions, break up the question and note down what is given to you. This section is time consuming so you have to skim through the passages very fast.
Do not attempt questions if you are not sure. Studying pie charts, bar graphs will help you in this section. Read passages from mock tests and analyse them. Underline what you feel is important. This can help you find answers quickly.
At this point, reading is very essential. Read questions from most sections. Solving mock tests at the last minute might not give you the boost you need to crack TANCET MBA 2017. Read solved examples of questions and numerical. Solve those questions from concepts newly learnt. A score of 65 and above is considered enough to secure a seat in TANCET MBA 2017.
