NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
XAT 2017 Registrations are ongoing. The Exam will be conducted on January 08, 2017. The Exam will be conducted for 170 minutes for aptitude test followed by 40 minutes’ test of General Awareness and English.
Aptitude Test of XAT 2017 comprises Verbal/Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. The total of 78-80 questions is asked in the Aptitude Section . While most of the management entrance exams including XAT, MAT, CAT have a similar paper pattern, the level of difficulty of XAT Exam is considered a little tougher than the rest of exams.
Although the level of paper is expected to be tough, preparing for Aptitude Test of XAT Exam should not be considered a herculean task. With the right approach and strategic planning, you can excel at the section with ace marks.
While the weightage of paper is as mentioned below, you should always focus on section you are best at to score easy marks first. There is a total of 29 questions from Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation making it the most answered/attempted section of all 3. The duration of the section is 170 minutes and it should be divided among the sections as per your convenience.

Holding 33% of the total Paper, Verbal Ability is as important as other sections. The questions asked in Verbal Ability is derived from topics such as Grammar, Para Completion, Vocabulary, Para Jumble, Critical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and Arguments. An average of 20-23 correct attempts in the section would help you clear the cutoff with a good margin. Also, it will boost your percentile up to land you in your dream college.
Best way to prepare for the section is to strengthen your Language Aptitude. Your most important and primary task would be to pay attention to English as a language and get all the grammar right. Reading newspapers and working on your writing skills would surely help you in achieveing that. However, the preparation for the section should be synced with the other sections so as to keep the overall preparation on the track.
The decision-making section of Aptitude test holds 30% of the total paper. An average of 23 questions are asked in the section. The questions are generally asked from the topics such as Arithmetic, Analytical Reasoning and Situational Reaction questions. The questions aim to test your analytical and logical approach to a problem. The questions asked range from easy to moderate. Preparation using Mock tests and previous year papers would make it a cake walk for you.
Decision Making section is considered the most interesting section of all. Levelling in between easy to moderate, come of the questions could come as a surprise to you. However, regular preparation with focus on the important topics will help you solve such questions.
The Ace section of the Aptitude Test, this is where the most number of questions are attempted. This section is favourite of all the test takers. However, most students do get this section wrong owing to the paper anxiety and carelessness. The questions asked in the section is asked from the following topics: Geometry, Mensuration – 2D and 3D, Probability, Algebra Functions, P&L, Speed & Distance, Statistics, Tables, Trigonometry, Graphs, Arithmetic, Heights & Distance, Direction Sense & Time, Clocks and Data Interpretation – Table, Combination.
