JEE MAIN 2017 Preparation Tips by Abhishek

Abhishek k appeared in JEE Main 2010 and got 220 marks. He got admission in MAIT. We interviewed him and gathered his views on the preparation of JEE Mains.

 

Here is the questionnaire we had with him.

Ques. What did you choose- Offline or Online mode for taking up the exam?

Ans. At that time offline mode was there so I had no option to choose from online or offline mode.

The pros and cons of the offline mode are-

Pros

1. After the exam is over you can still have 1 minute to review the paper.

2. No chance of error due to technical reasons.

Cons

1. Time consuming.

Ques. Did you take Coaching Classes? If yes, how did they help in your story?

Ans. Yes I have taken the coaching classes from Resonance Delhi Branch. I was able to have a better command over physics and maths after the coaching. The coaching helped me a lot in teaching me the fundamentals of physics, chemistry and maths. Regular tests were taken in order to prepare you for the JEE exam.

Ans. 7

Ques. How did you manage JEE Main Preparation along with your Class 12th exam?

Ans. I gave equal amount of time to 12th and JEE Main .As syllabus of JEE includes physics and chemistry of 12th so I was able to manage these subjects well as same syllabus was taught to us in school as well as in the coaching institutes.And other subjects i studied on weekends.

 

Ques. What were your Strong and Weak areas? How did you prepare and what special efforts did you put for improving them?

Ans. My strong area was in Physics- I was good in physics and my fundamentals were clear and became stronger after the coaching classes.

Weak Area was Maths – I was not so good in maths, so I studied and practiced maths a lot during my preparations. I regularly solved around 15 questions daily of maths in order to crack the JEE Exam.

Ques. What mock papers did you take?

Ans. I didn't take any mock papers, instead i joined the Test Series of Resonance coaching institute which helped me a lot in analysing my weak and strong portions and it also helped me a lot how to attempt the paper in order to achieve the maximum score.

Ques. Physics: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section.

Ans. HC Verma is the best book for Physics as it will help you a lot in making your fundamentals strong. The book has all type of questions that can come in the JEE Exam. Cover up all the important portions of the book and then solve the previous 10 year papers of IIT JEE to know whether you can solve it or not.

Ques. Chemistry: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section

Ans. Take any good book for Organic and Inorganic chemistry and practice a lot because chemistry is easy in comparison to other subjects and make this subject very strong  in order to achieve a high score in JEE. Take help from your teacher in preparation tips.

Ques. Mathematics: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section.

Ans. For Mathematics coaching class material is good or you can take a book of any indian publisher like KC Verma etc.The Good score in Maths requires a lot of practice and hard work in order to fetch a very  good score in the exam. So daily solve around 15-20 questions daily.

Ques. What are the things you would like to go back in time and change to get into a better college?

Ans. I wish if I had focused more on maths and chemistry in my class 12th then I would be able to fetch more score in my JEE exam. My fundamentals in maths were not so strong and I suffered due to this weakness in my JEE Exam.

Ques. Write some of the Preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 months before the exam?

Ans. If you are starting 4 months before the exam then concentrate more on your strong areas and atleast cover up 2 subjects very well in order to fetch a very good score in these 2 subjects and for third subject prepare atleast to get a qualifying score in that subject. Study for around 10-12 hours daily.
