JEE MAIN 2017 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE/OFFLINE TEST
Snehal Saini appeared for the JEE Main examination to seek admissions in Engineering Programme in the year 2011. She scored 125 marks. She is presently studying in Beant College of Engineering and Technology.
Ans. At that time, i.e. in 2011 JEE Main was conducted in offline mode. It was one of the most exhausting competitive exam that I have given. It was conducted in 2 sets of 3 hours each with an hour break in between them. Online exams are much better than the offline. As in offline we have to circle the right answer which is further time consuming and requires more attention. Moreover you cannot make changes once filled. So it has more cons then pros.
Ans. No since JEE Advanced was not conducted at that time.

Ans. Yes I took weekend coaching classes in Chandigarh for a year. It helped me a lot to clear my concepts regarding subjects and learn shortcut trick to solve questions quickly and with accuracy. As schools were also important so I opted weekend classes. But weekend classes were more hectic and required more sitting for every subject, also school academic programs were also important so I got very less time to practice what I learnt on weekends. But regular test in coaching classes and all India test series helped me a lot to know about the exam and its pattern. So it’s important to take coaching classes for these type of competitive exams as they help the aspirant in many ways.
Ans. More of self-study helps to clear the examination so I rate the coaching classes on 5 out of 10.
Ans. Managing School and preparing for JEE MAIN side by side was a tough job as the things are totally different. Schools requires more written practice and NCERT revision whereas JEE MAIN require shortcuts, fast solving methods, moreover the level of questions asked in JEE are difficult than the school exams. So to manage both school and JEE preparation, I opted weekend coaching classes i.e. 5 days of week for school and 2 days for coaching classes.

Ans. My strong areas where maths and chemistry. I was quite good in both. But there was one difficulty that I found maths difficult in JEE Main so I practiced a lot for that. I took off from school in the week days and used to go to coaching classes to clear my doubts and practice as much as question that I can. I Found physics difficult earlier and I was weak in that area but later I understood the basic concepts by learning from the basics and after that I was able to solve questions easily.
Ans. Every week my coaching class conducted tests and I used to appear for the same. Score and solution are later revealed in next week which made us know our week and strong areas. Also there was a mock test series and all India test series that was conducted every month before the exam and daily before 2 weeks of the exams. That really helped as it gave us idea where we stand in the competition as there are lot of passionate aspirants out there fighting for the top position and good ranks.
Ans. Physics: it was the subject that I found tough earlier but later I started loving the subject and started knowing the concept and was able to solve questions. As I told I was weak in this section so my strategy was to start from the basics. Learn from the start from small things and gradually increase my level. I started knowing concepts by some practical means and started applying them on the question, I started from the easy ones first and gradually moved to the questions which required a lot of thinking. In this way it was easy to know the subject and things about physics. I solved and saw lot of questions which made me clear to choose which type of technique the question requires. Books that I followed were:
Ans. Chemistry was bit easy from other two sections as this subjects requires more reading and understanding rather than solving big question or getting answers. So I stick to the ncert book as it was the best book to start with and to know more modern and Pradeep books were good. As they explained the things very well in easy language. To score more in chemistry I kept revising the things again and again, and every time I come up with knowing more which cleared my concepts. The tough part for me in chemistry was to learn chemical equation. I practiced a lot of chemical equation time in time to learn all the 100s of equations. Also the material I got from the coaching classes was very beneficial as it gave lot of shortcut methods to learn things.
Ans. It was the part that I love the most. I like solving maths questions very much. I scored very good marks in schools but was not that much well in JEE because of the difficulty level. So to score more in JEE exam I was more focused on the books that were provided by coaching classes as these books were more helpful in solving tricky questions which were asked in the JEE exams. There were lot of shortcuts that I could learn from the study material given by them. The simple strategy for mathematics was that that the more you solve questions the more you get to know about the method and more you build speed for solving such questions. I tried solving many questions so that I could easily solve it in the exams but I scored very less in mathematics as I lacked in practice.
Ans. Yes I would definitely want to go back and change things. I was more focused towards school academics because of which I scored less in JEE. So I would like to cut my school timing and join coaching classes for two years in 11th and 12th on regular basis if I get a chance to go back in past.

Ans. Though it’s tough to score more if you start just 4 months early. But yes you could do enough to score good marks and get an admission in good college. All you have to do is to concentrate on your strong part, practice that, polish your strong part more such that if any question comes from that section, you will be able to solve. Also you can find the easy section from where the question usually comes by looking at their previous year questions and plan like that. Also take some test to get knowledge of the pattern of the test and to keep yourself aware of the flow of solving questions.
