NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE/OFFLINE TEST
Mittali appeared for JEE Main in 2010 and she scored 79 marks. She was offered admissions from Bhagwan Mahaveer Institute of Engineering & Technology, Shree Balwant Institute of Technology and DITM, Sonepat. She took admission into Shree Balwant Institute of Technology. We interviewed her and she shares her preparation strategies. Given below is the questionnaire that we had with her.
Ans. I chose offline mode for taking up the examination.
Ans. No, I couldn’t qualify the JEE Advanced.
|Coaching Classes||NCERT Text Books||Coaching Study Material||Online Study Material||Subject wise Classes||Self-Study|
|Very High||High||Very High||Moderate||Very High||High|
Ans. Yes like every other engineering aspirant I also took coaching classes from Sehgal School of Competitions, Punjabi Bagh. It was really very helpful. To prepare for competitive exams such as JEE Main, this kind of exam need constant determination. Mr Rajinder Sehgal, the owner of SSC, is a motivational speaker. He boosts the confidence of aspirants.
Ans. I would rate it as 9.
Ans. I had to make a time table and study hard. I had made my schedule in a way by dedicating time and energy to weaker areas. Studying NCERT was quite easy after attending the class at coaching center. I need to revise a lot before giving exam. If you think you are not able to crack NCERT exams then take a break from coaching institute just focus on school exams first. If you can't clear class 12th exam you won't be able to sit for JEE.
Ans. I was good in chemistry. So dedicated more time on it to improve my concepts of organic and inorganic chemistry. I was quite afraid of Physics. My knowledge on Physics was average so I took extra classes in school itself to make me understand numerical in deep, so that I am able to pass the boards. The remedial classes at school were very helpful. I would suggest you to listen your teachers sincerely, only they can help you in fetching good marks. You need to put little efforts daily to achieve your goal.
Ans. I used to study mock papers in additional books like Pradeep of Physics. Rest I took advices from teachers at Institution. We were also given study materials which included general and maestro study materials. Every Sunday we had exams of JEE level. The test series was a useful tool to crack exams.
Ans. For clearing concepts I would advise to read NCERT books first. To get concepts on your tips. Then you can go for books like Arihant Physics for class 12th. It has a good practice material that broadens your knowledge. And try solving problems as much as you can.
The students who have problem in grasping concepts can go for HC Verma Physics Part I and Part II. Its really helpful. It has lot of examples to learn from. Physics has theoretical and numerical part both. Choose some topics in which you can excel. Don't prepare for all the topics.
Ans. The strategy I followed to read chemistry is to learn by heart the notes made by me by attending the classes. Those were enough. The organic chemistry is more theoretical. So you need a lot of practice. Reading alone is not helpful. The Inorganic chemistry will be learnt easily by writing equations. So you need to work bit harder. The books I chose for studying Chemistry was NCERT book only and for advanced concepts I chose the study materials given by institution. The constant effort will make you stand out from other students.
Ans. The student who think Mathematics is quite difficult, the only solution for them is practice. If you don't understand the topic in a class then ask the teacher after the class and don't skip the things. I took few topics and worked upon that. Maths NCERT is very helpful but RD Sharma for competitive exams was very helpful in cracking competitive exams. It has concepts and good amount of practice material. So I would advise you to buy one and it will also help in college exams.
Ans. I wish I would have given more time in preparation of JEE, at least 1 more year for preparation.
Ans. The tips that will help you crack exams are:-
1. Study by following a good Time Table
2. Don't study for longer hours or studying everything at one time.
3. Work hard upon your concepts.
4. After reading concepts take mock test to check how much you have understood.
5. Don't cram the concepts. Learn them by understanding.
6. Take help from your friends.
