Ans- 60%

Ques. Name of the Institution where you took Admission

Ans- Punjab College of Engineering and technology.

Ques- Name of the Institutions which offered you Admission

Ans- I was offered admission Galgotia College and HRIT.

Ques-What did you choose- Offline or Online mode for taking up the exam?

Ques- Did you take Coaching Classes? If yes, how did they help in your story?

Ans- I cannot say coaching is necessary to crack JEE Main exam but yes it does help in scoring high. My performance was at an average level when I started my preparation but with the help of coaching classes and mock tests, I improved a lot. I started improving, test by test, at all levels.

Ques. Rate the role of Coaching Institutes in cracking JEE Main

Ans. 7

Here some other Tips to crack JEE MAIN 2017 Exam

Ques- How did you manage JEE Main Preparation along with your Class 12th exam?

Ans- While JEE Main is about practice, board exams are about theory. You have to be at articulating the theory and concepts you have learnt rather than applying them across many questions. Until you have a good grasp on theory & concepts you can do well while practicing for JEE Main. You would be tested heavily on theory and hence this provides a great opportunity for you to get well versed with it and brush up some concepts in more detail as it would ultimately help you in JEE Main as well

Ques- What were your Strong and Weak areas? How did you prepare and what special efforts did you put for improving them?

Ans- This means that if you want success then the only way is to work very hard for it. This is because there is lot of competition in each and every thing you do. Without hard work it is rather impossible to achieve anything in life. Whatever work you do in your routine, if it does not have any direction then the work done will be a waste. When you work blindly without knowing anything you may fail to get a proper result. One has to be very regular in his or her studies while preparing for JEE. You have to work everyday without taking a single break for the two years. Also the performance graph should be consistent. This means every test you give during these two years should show gradual progress of your performance rather than zig-zag. This will give boost to your confidence level. my weak areas was maths.

Ques- What mock papers did you take?

Ans- Based on the individual subjects, here is what you should do and where you can focus upon a bit more:-

  1. Physical Chemistry:- Remember the formulae and practise the questions, Focus-thermodynamics
  2. Inorganic Chemistry:- Do a little bit of reading from the start so you are in touch with it constantly, Focus: Analytical Chemistry
  3. Organic Chemistry:- It also demands constant and regular efforts, Focus: Reaction Mechanisms
  4. Mathematics:- Make a chart of all the formulae. Practice a great deal. Remember 3 T’s:- Tips, Tricks and Techniques for each topic, Focus: Calculus
  5. Physics:- Remember the concepts and practise the questions, Focus:- Mechanics

Ques- Physics: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section.

Ans- The book, ‘Concepts of Physics’, written by H.C.Verma is a book with a lot of text explaining concepts of Physics in a clear way. I would highly recommend it for JEE preparation as the JEE checks the students for their conceptual strength, and this book provides an easy way of learning the concepts involved in the subject. The ease of learning physics with this book comes from its organization and simplicity.

Overall Organization: The book has introductory chapters that introduce all the mathematical tools (like calculus) required for the reader to deal with all the mathematics in the subsequent chapters. This is very unlike many other books which do not provide any necessary mathematical base and expect the student to already possess it. The basic mathematical concepts covered in these introductory chapters make the student skilled to solve a variety of Physics problems during JEE preparation. The topics of the chapters are in a systematic flow meaning that, there will never be an instance where a certain topic in the present chapter refers to a ‘future’ chapter.

Ques- Chemistry: Mention the Strategy and Books Followed for this section

Ans- Chemistry is not only a scoring subject, but also guarantees success in IIT-JEE.

Tips for chemistry:

  • Every year in JEE, 40-45% questions come from Physical, 25-30% question come from inorganic and rests come from organic chemistry. Questions on topics like atomic structure and chemical bonding are really important and come every year in JEE examination. Hence, students must prepare a table covering essential data to be used.
  • Students must pay extra attention on electrochemistry particularly relating to cell reactions, EMF, Oxidation-reduction half cells and standard potentials.
  • Extraction of Ag and Au by cyanide process is another key topic from which questions are often asked. Oxides and oxyacids of N, P, halogens, S are important from the point of view of oxidation states of elements, strength of oxyacids and their oxidising properties.
  • Coordination compounds and extractive metallurgy are two major areas in inorganic chemistry. Emphasis is laid on the hybridization and geometries and magnetic properties of complexes. Extraction principles like self- reduction, electrolytic reduction, carbon reduction involving the elements Cu, Pb, Mg, Al, Fe and Sn are very important.
  • Pick up one good chemistry textbook instead of jumping from one book to the other.
  • Organic chemistry needs lots of practice, however, boring it might seem.
  • Inorganic chemistry can become easier if the study of block elements is taken seriously.

Ques- What are the things you would like to go back in time and change to get into a better college?

Ans- More focus and concentration.

Ques- Write some of the Preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 months before the exam?

Ans- One must understand that there is no such thing as an important topic. All topics are important, questions can be set from any topic. You just have to do your best. Since you have time, don’t leave any topics unattended. While practising, highlight the questions which you find tricky and conceptual for future reference. Every day, cover topics from all the three subjects. It helps you to maintain a balance right from the start. Make a schedule which would work on eliminating your weak links and strengthening your strong ones. Try to stick to it. After topic wise revision, you should start with test series, online or offline, quite early. As it creates exam-like environment, you come to know your mistakes and shortcomings and you can work upon them. Toppr will come very handy for this. JEE Advanced is all about quality and not quantity. Its better to focus on things and get a better understanding than having a basic idea of all the topics.
