ATMA 2018 Exam Pattern

ATMA 2018 Exam Pattern will be designed to test candidates’ aptitude in various management skills by analysing their comprehension abilities, verbal reasoning capacities, analysing and synthesizing capabilities, and numerical reasoning abilities.

Below is a quick overview of ATMA 2018 Exam Pattern:

  • The exam will be conducted in both modes, i.e. online (computer-based) and offline (pen & paper). Please note that the examination for February session will be conducted in offline mode, while the exam for May and July session will be conducted in online mode.
  • The test will be objective type only.
  • There will be 180 MCQs (Multiple-choice questions) in total, divided into 6 sections.
  • The total duration of the examination will be 3 hours.
  • For each correct answer, 1 mark is given.
  • There is negative marking in the test. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • The syllabus for ATMA 2018 will comprise of Analytical ability, Quantitative ability and Verbal ability.

ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions) is conducted by Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) multiple times in a year. The test is conducted for providing admission to eligible candidates in various Postgraduate programs such as MBA, PGDM, MCA, MCM, etc. offered by the member management institutes of AIMS. ATMA entrance exam is a national level test and the score is accepted by 200 institutions.

ATMA 2018 Exam Pattern in Detail

ATMA 2018 entrance exam will be conducted in both online and offline modes. The examination for February session will be conducted in offline mode, while the exam for May and July session will be conducted in online mode. The test will consist of a total of 180 questions. All the questions will be objective type (MCQs). Each question will carry 1 mark. There is negative marking in the test. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Please note that the 180 questions given in the exam paper will be divided into 6 sections and will follow the below given pattern:

Each of the above-mentioned sections will have 30 MCQs. The three sections, namely Analytical Reasoning Skills, Verbal Skills, and Quantitative Skills will have 2 parts each, as shown in the table.

Candidates are advised to note the below given points with respect to marking scheme:

  • There will be no penalty for leaving an answer blank.
  • For each correct answer, 1 mark will be awarded.
  • There will be negative marking. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • Each question will have four options and the candidate will be required to mark one correct answer out of the four given options only.
  • Choosing more than one answer for Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that have single correct response, is considered to be invalid.

ATMA 2018 Syllabus

Below discussed is the exam syllabus for ATMA 2018 entrance exam. The syllabus will comprise of verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, analyzing and synthesizing ability. The syllabus aims to assess the aptitude of the candidates for higher management education.

The main topics of the exam syllabus are:

  1. Analytical Reasoning Skills

Analytical Reasoning Skills

  • This section will test the candidate’s analytical skills and logical thinking abilities. For each question, candidate will be required to analyze the situation and answer the question carefully. 
  • No specialized knowledge of any particular field or a particular formula or theorem is required for answering the questions in this section.
  • Thorough practice of questions relating to logical thinking and reasoning aptitude will help candidates to answer this section successfully.

Verbal Skills

  • This section assesses candidate’s English language skills. Candidates will be tested on factors such as, correct grammatical usage, vocabulary, familiarities with words, understanding and comprehension of the language while reading, etc.
  • Candidates are advised to read English newspapers, magazines, etc. to increase their familiarity with words and improve vocabulary.
  • Questions will be based on the following topics:
  1. Reading Comprehension
  2. Sentence Correction
  3. Word Meaning: Antonyms, Synonyms, Analogies, Parallel relationships
  4. Sentence Completion

Quantitative Skills

This section revolves around mathematics, numerical ability, calculation skills, etc. It is important for candidates to practice quick solving tricks with respect to calculations, etc. for doing well in this section. Topics covered in this section are given below:

Important Instructions

The details mentioned below are important and must be noted before appearing for the ATMA 2018 exam:

  • On the day of the exam, candidates must follow all the rules and regulations of the exam.
  • Candidates must report to the examination hall at least 45 minutes prior to the commencement of the exam.
  • Candidates must carry a printout of the admit card and a valid photo identity proof at all times during the exam.

Candidates are expected to maintain decorum for smooth organisation of examination.
