WBJEE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

WBJEE 2018 Eligibility Criteria lists requisite criteria about candidates’ domicile, age and other necessary requirements such as academic history and education qualifications, marks obtained in qualifying exams etc. Candidates appearing for WBJEE 2018 must have a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and minimum of 30% marks in English language in class 12th qualifying examination.

WBJEE is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering, architecture and pharmacy programmes offered by number of colleges participating under the state level exam. The exam is expected to be scheduled in April 2018. Notification for the exam will be published at the board’s official website starting from first week of February 2018. The board invites applications from Class XII passed or candidates with equivalent qualification for the exam.

WBJEE 2018 Eligibility- Age Criteria

The board has set age limit permissible for numerous courses offered by the participating institutes. The age criteria vary with each offered course. Age Limit for courses offered under WBJEE is listed below.

  1. WBJEE 2018 Age criteria for Engineering/Technology as on December 31, 2018
  • Minimum age: 17 years of age.
  • Maximum Age: There is no upper age limit defined for the course.
  1. WBJEE 2018 Age criteria for Pharmacy as on December 31, 2018
  • Minimum Age: 17 years of age
  • Maximum Age: There is no upper age limit defined for the course.
  1. WBJEE 2018 Age criteria for Architecture as on December 31, 2018
  • Minimum age: 17 years
  • Maximum Age: There is no upper age limit defined for admission to the course.
  1. WBJEE 2018 Age criteria for Marine Engineering as on December 31, 2018
  • Lower Age Limit: 17 years and
  • Upper age limit: 25 years.

WBJEE 2018 Eligibility- Domicile/Residential Requirement

Candidates seeking admission under reserved category must have domicile of West Bengal. Candidate must also possess a certificate as proof of their claim.

  1. Candidate should be a permanent resident of the State of West Bengal since last 10 years by December 31, 2018.   
  1. Candidate’s parent(s) should be permanent resident(s) of the State of West Bengal and have permanent address proof for the same.

Qualifying Marks for WBJEE 2018

The qualifying marks for different courses are different with respect to the institute offering it.

Qualifying Marks for Engineering and Technology

  1. In Calcutta University (Other than Dept. of Jute & Fibre Technology) And Jadavpur University
  • Minimum Qualification: Class 12th examination
  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Minimum Marks: 60 % marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Minimum Marks: 55% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics qualifying examination of class 12th for SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  • Minimum Marks in English: 30% marks in English for General/ SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  1. In Dept. of Jute & Fibre Technology, Calcutta University or Any other institute through WBJEE 2018:
  • Minimum Qualification: Class 12th examination
  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Minimum Marks: 45 % marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Minimum Marks: 40% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics examination of class 12th for SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  • Minimum Marks in English: 30% marks in English for General/ SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.

Qualifying Marks for Marine Engineering 

Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or and other board equivalent and recognized by the Education council of the state.

  • Mandatory Subject: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Minimum Marks: 60% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for General /SC/ST/OBC/PWD category.
  • Minimum Marks in English: Minimum 50% marks in English in class 10th or Class 12th.

Qualifying marks for Architecture Course 

This programme is offered by Jadavpur University only. The minimum qualification for the admissions to this course are as follows:

  • Minimum Qualification: Class XII
  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Minimum Marks: 60 % marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Minimum Marks: 55% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics qualifying examination of class 12th for SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  • Minimum Marks in English: 30% marks in English for General/ SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  • The candidate must successfully pass the NATA 2018 (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) or JEE Advanced Examination 2018 for Architecture.

For other institutes, the minimum qualifying marks are given below:

  • Candidate must have passed class 12th examination from West Bengal central board or and other board equivalent and recognized by the State Educational Council.
  • NATA 2018 (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) or JEE Advanced Examination 2018 must be cleared by the candidate
  • Class 12th examination must be passed with minimum of 50% marks and mathematics as one of the compulsory subject.

Qualifying marks for Pharmacy Course 

For admission to the pharmacy course as offered by Jadavpur University. Following details are given:

  • Minimum Qualification: Class XII
  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Minimum Marks: 60 % marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Minimum Marks in English: 30% marks in English for General/SC/ST/OBC/PWD category.
  • Minimum Marks: 45% marks for /SC/ST/OBC/PWD category.

For admission to the pharmacy course offered by other colleges. Following are the details:

  • Minimum Qualification: Class XII
  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Minimum Marks: 45% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for General category
  • Minimum Marks: 40% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
  • Minimum Marks in English: 30% marks in English for General/ SC/ST/OBC/PWD category students.
