OJEE 2018 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Exam) is an offline exam organized by the Odisha Joint Entrance Board. OJEE 2018 is an entrance test for aspirants seeking admissions into various 1st year undergraduate degree, 1st year post graduate degree and later entry programs offered by the participating institutes.

OJEE 2018 comprises of 3 sessions. Each session consists of different tests bearing different subjects and patterns. Candidates must carefully check the sessions that have the subjects necessary for admission in to their particular course.

The 1st session is a 2 hour examination conducted in the morning (9 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.). It comprises of 120 multiple choice questions and the medium of the examination is English.

The 2nd session is a 1 hour examination conducted at noon (12 p.m. to 1 p.m.). It comprises of 60-90 questions, based on the course/subject candidates are appearing for. The medium of the questions is English.

The 3rd session is conducted in the afternoon and is divided into 2 slots. Candidates must appear for the appropriate slot that has their particular course related subjects.

The 1st slot is a 1 hour (2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.) examination consisting of 60 MCQs and the 2nd slot is a 2 hour (2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.) examination consisting of 60-120 MCQs based on the course.

The marking scheme is common to all the sessions of the OJEE 2018.

Every right answer is awarded with 4 marks and 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

Candidates must thoroughly be aware of the detailed syllabus of the entrance test of the particular course they are seeking admissions for as this helps in planning out a better preparation strategy and perform better at the examination.

Aspirants must keep in mind the general instructions to follow before and during the examination to enable the smooth conduct of the examination.

OJEE 2018 Session 1

The basic features of the OJEE 2018 Session 1 are shown below.

  • OJEE 2018 Session 1 is an Offline Examination.
  • Bubbles corresponding to candidates’ answers have to be filled using blue/black ball point pen.
  • The duration of the examination is 2 hours (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
  • The medium on the examination is English.
  • There are a total of 120 multiple choice questions.
  • Every correct answer is awarded with 4 marks.
  • 1 mark is deducted for every wrong response.

OJEE 2018 Session 2

  • The duration of the examination is 1 hour (12 p.m. to 1 p.m.)
  • The medium on the examination is English.
  • There are a total of 60-90 multiple choice questions depending on the course.

  • 1 mark is deducted for every wrong response.

OJEE 2018 Session 3

Session 3 of the OJEE 2018 is divided in to 2 slots depending on the courses.

The common features of the OJEE 2018 Session 3 slots are shown below.

  • OJEE 2018 Session 3 is an Offline Examination.
  • Bubbles corresponding to candidates’ answers have to be filled using pen by candidates.
  • The medium on the examination is English.
  • Every correct answer is awarded with 4 marks.
  • 1 mark is deducted for every wrong response.

Slot 1:

  • The duration of the examination is 1 hour.
  • The Slot 1 examination is conducted from 02.30 p.m. to 03.30 p.m.
  • There are a total of 60 multiple choice questions in Slot 1.

Slot 2:

  • The duration of the examination is 2 hour.
  • The Slot 1 examination is conducted from 02.30 p.m. to 04.30 p.m.
  • Based on the course/subject, there are a total of 60-120 multiple choice questions in Slot 2.

There are a total of 60 MCQs in this test.

OJEE 2018 Examination Pattern for PGAT (M.Tech/M.Arch):

For admissions to the PGAT (M.Tech/M.Arch) program, candidates must appear for 2 hours test.

There are a total of 90 MCQs in this test. 30 MCQs, 20 from Maths and 10 from Logical and Analytical Reasoning, is common to all branches of PGAT. The other 60 MCQs are framed from the specialized branch on the PGAT that candidate is appearing for.

Marking Scheme of OJEE 2018

  • The OJEE 2018 is an offline (pen and paper) exam.
  • It is divided into 3 sessions.
  • Based on the course for which admission is being sought, candidates must attempt the different sessions of OJEE 2018.
  • Though the question paper pattern (duration of the exam, number of subjects/sections and number of questions asked) for the 3 sessions of OJEE 2018 is different based on the course, the marking scheme is the same throughout.
  • Every correct answer is awarded with 4 marks.
  • There is negative marking scheme in place and 1 mark is deducted for wrong answers.

OJEE 2018 SYLLABUS

OJEE 2018 is an offline (pen and paper based) test.

OJEE is an entrance exam taken by students wishing to apply for a wide range of courses.

Various participating institutes, offering multiple courses (both undergraduate and postgraduate programs) base their admissions on the OJEE 2018.

OJEE 2018 incorporates a 3 session exam.

Each Session consists of different subjects and candidates must know beforehand the sessions that they will need to attempt in order to clear the entrance test pertaining to their course.

Candidates need to be aware of the subjects and sections involved in each session of the examination and what each section is designed to test in the candidates. This will help candidates to tackle each section with the right approach at the time of preparation.

General Instructions:

  1. Examination center gates will be opened half an hour before the scheduled start of the examination. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the hall once the examination starts.
  2. Candidates must not leave the examination hall before the examination is over.
  3. Valid Admit Card is necessary and entry inside the examination hall will be denied without the Admit Card.
  4. Candidates must get the blue/black ball point pen to the hall for filling the circles in the OMR sheets. Pens will not be provided in the examination hall.
  5. Candidates are allowed to take the carbon copy (2nd copy) of the OMR after submitting the primary OMR.
  6. Mobile phones or any electronic devices are not allowed inside the examination hall.
  7. The candidates are not allowed to bring any charts/tables/papers to the examination hall.
  8. Upon receiving the question booklet and answer sheets, candidates must thoroughly inspect every page and report to the conducting authorities immediately, if anything is found to be missing.
  9. Candidates must neatly write the name and roll number in the question booklet and answer sheet in the space provided.
  10. Answer sheets without the candidate’s name or roll number in the requisite fields will not be evaluated.
  11. Candidates must be careful not to write anything else in the answer sheet, especially in the response marking region.
