Logical Reasoning Section in NMAT 2017

Last Updated - July 11, 2017

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management conducts NMAT as a screening test for candidates seeking admissions in to various MBA programs offered in the institute and its branches. NMAT is a 2-hour test consisting of three sections namely, Language Skills, Quantitative Aptitude Skills and Logical Reasoning.

One of its primary sections, Logical Reasoning, can be an easy scoring section if concentrated well on topics given in NMAT Syllabus. To be able to ace the section, here are some quick points to ponder upon:

  • Preparation, practice and revision must be done under proper guidance so that students are not left with any ambiguity.
  • For this purpose, candidates can refer the recommended books for their NMAT Preparation.
  • Logical Reasoning, especially can be quite time consuming because of the way the questions are framed. Candidates can get into the zone where a lot of time is wasted on one particular tricky question. This can be avoided if candidates frequently attempt NMAT Sample Papers to improve their speed and reduce inaccuracies.
  • Questions in the Logical Reasoning section are around the moderately difficult level. Few of the questions can be really easy while few can be very vague creating doubt in students’ minds. This trend is expected to continue the following year too.  Check NMAT Paper Analysis

  • The overall difficulty of the Reasoning Section hovers around the moderately difficult levelto highly difficult level.
  • Though NMAT 2016 consisted of a few easy questions based on Critical Reasoning and Strong and Weak Arguments, tougher questions were framed from concepts related to Logical Reasoning (Coding, Input/Output Topics).
  • Because of the relative ease in questions, attempting close to 26-28 questions correctly was considered to be on par.
  • In comparison, NMAT 2017 is expected to be quite difficult as questions from Critical Reasoning might be tricky.
