NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE/OFFLINE TEST
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test conducted 4 times a year. It is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA). The purpose of this exam is to facilitate Business Schools to screen candidates for admission to their MBA and allied programmes. The MAT Exam is taken by more than 50000 candidates each year to seek admissions in India.
This year, the MATSeptember Session was conducted on September 4, 2016, through offline mode and September 10, 2016, through online mode. MAT Results for the September 2016 session, were declared on September 15, 2016. AIMA declared the MATSeptember 2016 result on September 15, 2016. Now that the results are announced, the admission to MAT participating colleges will be based on MAT 2016 cut off. The below table gives you the cut-off for the top B-schools accepting MATscore:

The official MAT cut-off of the September 2016 session will be released soon by AIMA. The aspirants may consider last year’s cut off, in order to analyze the expected cut off. Therefore, aspirants can expect the MAT September cut-off to be similar as that of previous years. The table below gives you institution wise cut-off:

There are various allied courses in over 600 Management Institutions across a country that accept the MAT Score. The different MAT Participating Institutes in MAT 2016 will release their separate cut-offs. Admissions will be granted to the candidates as per these cut-offs.
The Cut off will be determined through various factors such as number of candidates, difficulty level of exam, availability of seats, etc. The shortlisted candidates will then be called for Personal Interview and Group Discussion Rounds. There are numerous factors affecting the cut off. They have been listed below:
The selection procedure of MAT 2016 includes Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and or Written Ability Test (WAT).
A selection process usually consists of the following:
Written Ability Test: A written ability test is conducted to test your writing skills, clarity of thoughts, coherency. More or less, it is an easy writing test.
Group Discussion round: GD is conducted to test your cognitive ability, i.e. how well did you understand a given topic, your awareness about the current happenings, also to test your body language, the way you respect or contradict the opponent's points and overall how interactive you are. In short, GD assesses the behavioural traits in a person. Also, his or her leadership skills, social skills, team skills, problem-solving skills and presence of mind.
Personal Interview round: A personal Interview is conducted to test your communication skills, your ability to answer the questions asked and also the way in which you answer it. You should make sure to take few seconds to process your answer of the question that has been asked and then answer it. Also, while answering it your answer should be spontaneous
The tentative dates of the MAT counselling process are in the month of June / July 2017. Candidates who will qualify the MAT exam they may appear for counselling on schedule date.
STEPS TO APPLY FOR MAT COUNSELLING
Candidates must follow the below steps in order to apply for the MAT Counselling Process:
1. Visit the official website i.e. www.aima.in
2. Click on the link “Upcoming Events”.
3. Read the details carefully before applying.
4. Then, click on the link “Apply Online” for participating institutions in which you want to get admission.
5. Select your college from the list of colleges and lock your choices.
6. After confirmation of seat, visit the allocated institution/ college.
The below steps need to be followed for counselling procedure:
1. The aspirants must check their MAT ranks first.
2. Confirm your counselling dates. On the basis of your rank, the counselling dates will be held.
3. Select your preferred course and college for admission.
4. Candidates who fulfil the MAT eligibility criteria are required to pay the requisite fee.
5. On the basis of rank in MAT September 2016, admission of the candidates will be done.
6. Provide all your educational details at the time of counselling.
The candidates are required to carry all the mandatory documents at the reporting colleges/ institutions. The documents are listed below:
1. MAT Admit card (both original and photocopy)
2. Medical certificate
3. Mark sheet of both 10th and 12th standard
4. AIMA MAT prospectus for making bank draft
5. SC/ST/OBC/PH certificate (if applicable)
6. Six passport size colored photographs.
AIMA has announced MAT December 2016, the third MAT of the year scheduled on December 4, 2016 (paper based test) and December 10, 2016, onwards (computer based test). The MAT Application Process for December 2016 will start from the first week of October. November 26, 2016, and November 29, 2016, are the last dates for both online and offline registrations respectively.
