Group Discussion (GD) is a group activity carried by 8 to 10 members before the final selection of a candidate. GD is one of the important phases of a selection process. It is conducted to exchange the thoughts and ideas among the members of the group on a particular subject. GD is the best way to select the prospective candidates in a comparative perspective and is a useful tool to screen the candidate’s potential as well as their skills.

As it is an interactive form of assessment, a candidate must pay a lot of attention for the preparation of this round. You will be judged majorly on the basis of your vision, and your potential for making decisions on any particular topic that will be designed to a candidate.

How is Group Discussion Conducted?

Usually, groups of 8-10 candidates are formed into a leaderless group and are given a specific topic to analyse and discuss within a given time limit. The time limit ranges from 2-4 minutes. The group may be given a topic and asked to discuss on the same and each candidate needs to present their views on a given topic.

A panel will observe the proceedings and evaluate the members on their views.
