NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
For the Common Admission Test-2015 (CAT-2015) over 2.18 lakh candidates have registered, marking a six year high and it is still behind from CAT 2008 because about 2.76 lakh candidates registered for CAT in 2008 that is all time record.

Since 2008, number of applicants is getting reduced every year, in other word you can say it has been sharp decline which is given in the below table:

September 25, 2015 was the last date for registration for entrance test to premier management institute and top B-schools. The CAT 2015 computer based test will be held on November 29, 2015. In 2014 there were 99 exam centres but this year CAT 2015 Exam Centre has been extended up to 650 centres across 136 cities.

This year following major changes have been brought in the CAT exam- availability of on screen calculator and descriptive type questions (Non-MCQs) and increasing of the exam time 10 minutes (from 170 minute to 180 minute) 60 minutes for each sections and CAT 2015 Exam pattern also has been changed.

According to the expert, CAT may not be possible touch the number of candidates again as in 2008. The test has been constant since it moved on from paper pen (offline) to computer based (online) barring 2014; the number of registrations has been consistent since 2010.
As per the research, this year reason behind the spurt in registrations because of healthy placement at IIMs. And other reason is increasing the number of exam centres. The third factor is that the long registration window, that was extended by 5 days because of this additional 35000 candidates registered for CAT.

The Supreme Court declared the transgender as the third gender in April 2014, and soon CAT introduced the third option for gender. There are 80 seats for transgender in India’s top B-schools this time.
According to the data of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, this year a large number of candidates registered as the third gender while there was no registration under the third gender in 2014. So because of this factor a total number of registered candidates will be increased in future.
And now the question arises if they selected. What after they get admission in B-schools? Will there be discrimination?

All the top B-schools say that they will provide the all facilities and opportunities to a transgender student as they would for any other student. But before giving the admission to a transgender,
Institute management should sensitize the faculty and students about gender diversity, before giving the admission to a transgender. Only then we can ensure zero discrimination.
