IIT Kanpur MBA Cut Off- Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, commonly known as IIT Kanpur is a prestigious engineering and technology college of the country. IITs like Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Madras, along with their mainstream field of engineering, also offer admission to Post Graduate Programs in Management, which are equivalent to MBA.

The cut off or minimum percentile depends upon a lot of factors, such as number of test takers or number of available seats.   • Candidate must have obtained a minimum of 85 percentile in CAT, for General/OBC category student. For all other categories, the minimum percentile required is 75.
  • They must score at least 65% marks in Class X and XII.
  • At least 65% marks or 6.5 CPI in undergraduate or post graduate course is a must.

Expected CAT Cut Off

The percentile for eligibility criteria for admission in IIT Kanpur may seem a mediocre one but the actual cut offs for admissions go considerably higher than this. This is due to the reputation of the institute that it has created.

One more thing that plays an important role in the selection is the profile of candidate. IIT K gives preference to candidates who have great academic scores and work experience, so candidates can be in a situation when a candidate with a bit lower percentile gets a call for GDPI process due to his work experience. However, the expected CAT cut offs, according to the trends in previous years are as follows:

  • CAT cut off for general category students generally goes as high as 95 percentile, where the cut of OBC also nearly catches up with general category students at 92-93 percentile.
  • The cut of other categories such as SC and ST is a bit lower than general and OBC categories, at around 85 percentile.

The above shown percentile is the percentile which generally tends to be the final percentile for getting admission at IIT Kanpur. However, many candidates do get shortlisted for GDPI round at around 90th percentile (General Category), but the chances of getting admission at such a percentile are very low.

IIT Kanpur MBA Admission Process

IIT Kanpur Admission Process is much similar to other business schools in the country. The process is explained below-

  • The process actually begins with candidate applying for and appearing in CAT, as it the basic and most necessary step.
  • After the declaration of CAT results, candidates have to apply for admission at IIT Kanpur.
  • Application forms are generally made available on the next day of results.
  • After this, IIT Kanpur prepares the merit lists and shortlists candidates for GDPI process.
  • Shortlisted candidates are invited to attend the GDPI process.
  • A candidate then has to appear in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  • After all this, candidates are offered admission according to their score in CAT and GDPI round.
