IIM Raipur Admission Criteria 2018

IIM Raipur Admission Criteria 2018 have been released by Indian Institute of Management, Raipur for admission to Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) for the academic year 2018-20. The institute will look into several other factors such as past academic record, work experience and performance in Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) apart from CAT scores.

Some highlights of the IIM Raipur Admission Process are given below-

  • IIM Raipur Admission Criteria includes 3 stages after clearing CAT cut off- Shortlisting for Personal Appearance (PA), Qualifying WAT & PI and Final Merit List.
  • The overall cut off required for IIM Raipur Admission Criteria by a general category student is 90 percentile. They must also clear the sectional cut off.
  • Candidates who manage to clear CAT cut offs laid by IIM Raipur will be shortlisted for Stage 2 which includes PI and WAT.
  • After the above 2 stages, a consolidated merit list will be created which will form the basis of final admissions.
  • Admission into the PGDM program will be granted to students who clear both rounds after considering their entire academic profile and other personal traits.

Indian Institute of Management, Raipur, popularly known as IIM Raipur or IIM R is one amongst the 20 IIMs established by the Government of India. IIM Raipur reserves the right to modify any part of this document including the various criteria and cut offs mentioned at any time till the actual admission process for the batch is completed.

IIM Raipur Admission Criteria – Admission Process

Admission process of IIM Raipur is a multi-step process where a candidate has to follow each step. Here is the complete process of how a candidate may get admission in Indian Institute of Management, Raipur:

  • After the declaration of CAT Result, IIM Raipur prepares the shortlist of candidates for Personal Appearance (PA).
  • The shortlisted candidates have to appear in the in the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI).
  • After the PI and WAT Test have been conducted, IIM Raipur prepares a final selection list, and candidates who are in top ranks in this list are offered admission in the institute.

IIM Raipur Admission Criteria – Eligibility for Shortlisting for Personal Appearance (PA)

After the declaration of CAT results, IIM Raipur prepares a list of candidates who are called for PA. But the institute has set some specific criteria which a candidate needs to fulfill to be even eligible for shortlisting. If candidate does not fulfill even one of these criteria, they will not be even considered for admission process.

Candidates must also take care that fulfilling these criteria only makes a candidate eligible for admission process, and does not guarantee admission in IIM Raipur.

The eligibility criteria can be divided in two parts, where any candidate needs to fulfill both of these: -

  • Minimum Overall and Sectional Percentiles required in CAT
  • Minimum Percentage Marks required in Class X, XII and Graduation

IIM Raipur Admission Criteria – Procedure for Shortlisting for Personal Appearance

If a candidate has appeared in CAT and satisfies the eligibility criteria as mentioned above, they are considered for the shortlisting process. For shortlisting candidates, IIM Raipur calculates and assigns a weighted score to each eligible candidate, and the candidates who are amongst the top rankers in the list of these scores, are called for Personal Appearance.

The following factors are considered for calculating total weighted score-

  • CAT Overall and Sectional Scores
  • Class X score
  • Class XII score
  • Under Graduation Score
  • Work Experience

Gender Diversity: To increase the participation of females, all IIMs have introduced gender diversity points for female candidates. According to this, a female candidate will be given 6 points, irrespective of her academic background or any other factor.

Academic Diversity: Similar to the gender diversity factor, IIMs have also introduced academic diversity factor. In this, a candidate who belongs to stream of graduation other than engineering, is given 6 points, irrespective of other factors. This is done to promote the diversity of academic backgrounds in IIMs.

As mentioned above, candidates who are amongst the top scorers in this round are called for Personal Appearance round.

IIM Raipur Admission Criteria – Preparation of Final Shortlisted Candidate List (FSL)

Candidates which are called for Personal Appearance have to appear in the Personal Interview and Written Ability Test. After this, candidates are assigned scores out of 100, by considering various factors.

The two major steps involved in final shortlisting of candidates in IIM Raipur Admission Criteria are mentioned below:

Written Ability Test 

Candidates who have been shortlisted for PA process have to reach the venue they have been asked for and participate in the Written Ability test. In this test, they are given a topic in which they have to write a short essay.

The topics are given on the spot and can be current global and national issues or abstract ones. This is done to check the level of thinking of candidate and knowledge of the topic.        

Personal Interview 

After the written ability test, candidates have to appear in the personal interview. This interview is generally taken by two panelists and candidates are asked questions about their academics, work experience or personality.

Candidates can also be asked about current global national affairs and issues and may be asked to share their opinion on these.

After these steps, a final score of candidates is prepared out of 100 where different factors get different weightage, as shown below-

IIM Raipur Admission Criteria – Offer Acceptance Fee and Withdrawal

The projected batch size of IIM Raipur for 2018-20 batch is around 280. Thus, the top 280 candidates according to the FSL will be sent offer letter from IIM Raipur.

Candidates who have been sent the offer letter and want to take admission in the institute have to send the Offer Acceptance Letter and Offer Acceptance Amount of INR 50,000 within the stipulated date mentioned in the offer letter.

Candidates can also withdraw the offer acceptance amount before registering them in the institution, within a stipulated time as mentioned in the offer letter. Amount will be refunded after deducting some processing charges of INR 10,000.

Candidates who register themselves will not be given any kind of refund. For the candidates who have registered themselves and have taken the admission, the offer acceptance fee paid by them will be adjusted with the term fee of the course.
