NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
CAT 2017- Common Admission Test is a national level entrance test held for admission to MBA and PGDM programs. Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML) will be conducting the Common Admission Test (CAT) this year. CAT Scores are taken into consideration for admission to 20 Indian Institutes of Managements (IIMs) and more than 100 other top notch B-schools in the country including IITs and IISc Bangalore.
Some salient features of CAT 2017 are highlighted below:
CAT is conducted by IIMs every year on the policy of rotation. Given below is a tabular representation of various editions of CAT exam over the years, their conducting authorities and the testing agencies since it became online in 2009.

Dr. Himanshu Rai was the CAT Convener of 2010 when IIM Lucknow conducted the exam. After the five-year contract with Prometric exhausted in 2013, Tata Consultancy Services was awarded the five-year contract and will be therefore the conducting agency for CAT 2017 too.
All the MBA aspirants in the country must track the important events related to CAT. Although the official notification for CAT 2017 is yet to be published at iimcat.ac.in, given below is the tentative schedule for the same based on previous years’ dates and recent developments in CAT 2017.

It is expected that the exam pattern and timeline will remain unchanged from last year. However, the final decision regarding the changes in CAT Exam Pattern is based on the recommendations of CAT 2017 Convener and CAT Committee.
CAT is a computer based exam of 3 hours duration. The exam would comprise 100 questions from three sections namely, Verbal and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability.
In the year 2016, registrations to IIMs for CAT and other leading B-schools rose up to the seven-year high, with 2,32,434 being the number applicants. Last year IIM Bangalore had conducted the exam.
