NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Allahabad has issued a notification to all the candidates who appeared for CAT 2016 that the result will be declared in the second week of January 2017. Admissions to IIMs and other B-Schools will be based on the percentile achieved by candidates in the CAT. CAT 2016 was held on December 4, 2016 over two slots. The result will be made available on the official website of IIM CAT. IIM will release the list of shortlisted candidates shortly after the result will be declared. The selection of candidates will be based on their percentile.
The following are the tentative dates regarding the declaration of result. The dates are based on the previous years’ trends and the notification released by IIM.

The result for CAT 2016 is expected to be released in the 2nd week of January 2017. The result can be checked on IIM CAT’s official website once it has been released. After checking the result, candidates are advised to download and print the score card for all future purposes.
The step-wise process to download result for CAT 2016 is given below:
Percentile indicates the relative position of the candidate in CAT. The exam is held in two different slots, so the score obtained is scaled to adjust for the sessions, location, and scale difference.
Once the results are declared, the candidates will receive their achieved percentile through SMS sent to the mobile number registered by candidate during the application procedure. Once candidates receive their percentile through SMS, they can view and download their score card on IIM CAT’s official website. Candidates will have to login with the ID and password that they set during the application procedure. The result will be presented in normalized form, and will also show the achieved percentile.
The main criteria for selection is the percentile achieved by the candidate in the CAT exam, although many other criteria are taken into account, like academic record, work experience, etc. Each IIM issues separate selection criteria and minimum cutoff. It is indicated as the minimum percentile required to be selected for IIM and other B-Schools.

The following details of the score card are based on the score card that was released for CAT 2015 result. It is expected that there might be slight changes in this year’s score card.
The CAT exam will be held in two different slots. In order to maintain fairness and equality in comparison of performances of the candidates across different sessions, the scores are a subject to normalization.
Once the result is declared and the candidates have seen their percentile and score card, candidates need not apply to IIMs separately in order to get shortlisted, but other B-Schools invite MBA/ PGDM/ Management programs applications. Candidates are advised to apply for their preferred B-Schools.
