MU OET 2017 M.Sc Exam

MU OET (Manipal University Online Entrance Test) M.Sc 2017 is conducted by the Manipal University for admissions into the various M.Sc Programs offered by them.

Interested Candidates can register themselves through the application portal before filling out the necessary details and paying MUOET Application fee. Entrance Exam fee is Rs. 1,400. The last date for submission of MU OET 2017 online application is May 15, 2017.

The candidates appearing for the MU OET M.Sc 2017 examination should download the Admit Card from the website. This Admit card is available 24 hours after the applicants submit their preferred choices of test dates in the Online Test Slot Booking System.

MU OET 2017 M.Sc. is 2-hour long computer based examination. The performances of the candidates are used to prepare a list in the order of merit.  This merit list is used as the basis for admissions through MU OET counselling.

MU OET 2017 M.Sc. Eligibility

The conditions that the applicants must satisfy in order to be eligible for each course are given below:

The candidates must ensure that they thoroughly check the eligibility criteria before starting the application procedure as their applications maybe rejected at the time of counselling if they are found to be ineligible in any aspect.

M.Sc Medical Biotechnology:

  • Candidates willing to apply for the M.Sc course in Biotechnology need to have a Bachelor’s Degree in any Life Science stream from a recognized university or institution.
  • Additionally, candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying undergraduate examination.
  • There is no minimum age that applicants should have completed at the time of applying.

M.Sc in Molecular Biology and Human Genetics:

  • Candidates, willing to apply for the M.Sc course in Molecular Biology and Human Genetics, need to have a Bachelor’s of Science (B.Sc) Degree, having studied at least one the subjects of Biological Sciences/ BAMS/MBBS/BHMS/BPT/BPharm or any other professional graduate degree from a recognized university or institution.
  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
  • There is no minimum age that applicants should have completed at the time of applying.

M.Sc (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology):

  • The candidate must have passed BSc with at least one subject of Biological Sciences or BAMS or MBBS or BHMS or BPT or BPharm or any other professional graduates from a recognized University.
  • BSc graduates with Physics and Chemistry optional could be considered for admission to MSc Biochemistry course.
  • Candidates must have obtained not less than 50% marks in aggregate at the qualifying examination.

M.Sc Genetics Counseling:

  • The candidate must have passed BSc in Nursing/Human Genetics/ Human Biology/ Medical Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology and Allied Health from a recognized university.
  • Candidates must have obtained not less than 50% marks in aggregate at the qualifying examination

MU OET 2017 M.Sc. Application Form

Candidates can apply online for MU OET 2017 for admissions M.Sc. programs. There is no offline mode of applying.

The last day for the online submissions of the applications of the candidates willing to pursue M.Sc Medical Biotechnology and the M.Sc Molecular Biology and Human Genetics course is May 15, 2017.

The following steps need to be followed by applicants to complete the MU OET application procedure:

  • At the official website, www.manipal.edu candidates can find the link ‘Apply Now’.
  • Candidates will be directed to a page where the ‘Basic Information’ details are to be entered.
  • Candidates must Register providing personal details including mobile number and email id followed by details of the course applying for and the postal address.
  • After filling up the Basic Information fields, the candidates will receive a LOGIN ID and Password to their registered email ID.
  • This Login Id and Password must be used in further steps in the MU OET Application procedure.
  • Candidates next need to fill the ‘Contact Information’ by providing complete postal address including PIN code along with phone number and email ID.
  • The next step is to enter the ‘Educational Qualification’ details like the name of the qualifying examination and the year of passing.
  • The last step before payment of the application fee is uploading of the photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
  • Applicants can then proceed to pay MOUET Application fee (Rs. 1,400/-) either in online mode or by drawing a demand draft.
  • After successfully completing the above steps, candidates can take a print of the ‘Confirmation Page’ that appears next.

MU OET 2017 M.Sc. Admit Card

MU OET Admit Card is generated 24 hours after candidates submit the booking of the test slots.

Candidates can visit the official website at www.manipalotbs.com and download the Admit Card by providing the application number and the online test booking password.

Candidates will also receive this hall ticket in their email. For this purpose, it must be ensured that a valid email id is provided at the time of applying.

Candidates are advised to take two high-quality print outs of this admit card on A4 size sheets.


MU OET 2017 M.Sc. Exam Pattern and Syllabus

  • The entrance exam is a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted only in English medium.
  • The questions are objective type questions where candidates must select their response from the choices given.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • There are 3 sections in the entrance test, namely Zoology, Botany and Chemistry. The Chemistry section also comprises of questions from Biochemistry.  
  • There are 40 questions in each section.
  • For every right answer, 4 marks are awarded.
  • 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Unanswered questions are not given any marks/negative marks.

Syllabus:

The questions in the entrance exam are from the level of B.Sc (in Life Sciences) syllabus which is incorporated as a part of the curriculum by the major Indian Universities offering the requisite Bachelor’s Degree program.


MU OET 2017 M.Sc. Results and Counselling

The results will be declared on the bases of performance of the candidates in the MU OET 2017, a merit list will be prepared and displayed in the official website on or before June 23, 2017.

The merit list is prepared based on marks scored by the candidate in the MU OET 2017.

The candidates who are shortlisted will need to report at the Manipal University for the counseling and admission process with the following documents:

  • MU OET Hall Ticket 2017
  • Demand Draft of the counseling fees and course fees.
  • Mark Sheet of the Qualifying Examination
  • 10th Standard Mark Sheet as Proof of Date of Birth
  • Conduct/Character Certificate issued by the School/College
  • Transfer Certificate College.
  • Copy of PAN Card of the Parent
  • 4 Recent Passport Size Photographs and 1 Stamp Size Photograph.

In case, due to unavoidable circumstances, a candidate is unable to be physically present at the time of reporting, an authorized representative must report on the candidate’s behalf and complete the necessary formalities.
