NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST

NEST 2017 Application Process is scheduled to start from January 02, 2017. National Entrance Screening Test or NEST is an entrance exam for aspirants seeking admission to the 5 year Integrated MSc Programme at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai.

There are primarily 4 main steps in the NEST Application Process – Online Registration, Filling Details in Application Form, Uploading Images and Application Fee payment. All the applicantes are advised to take a printout of duly fillied NEST Application Form for future reference.

The registration fee for General and OBC candidates is INR 700/- while the fee for Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates is INR 350/-. The fee for NEST 2017 can be remitted via credit card/debit card/TechProces/SBI-e-pay. The registration window will close in the first week of March – 2017. NEST 2017 Admit Card will be issued online for all the succesful candidates on or after April 14, 2017.

Candidates can check below the entire schedule for NEST 2017 Application Process. The registration window for NEST 2017 would be open for 3 months. So, candidates will have ample time for filling online application form.

NEST 2017 Eligibility Criteria

A candidate must fulfil a certain set of eligibility requirements to appear for NEST 2016. NEST Eligibility conditions for getting admission to NISER and UM-DAE CBS are as follows

  • Candidate should be from science stream
  • He/she should have studied any combination of Biology/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Physics at class XII level
  • The candidate must have minimum of 60% in aggregate in class 12
  • For scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST) and physical disabilities (PD) category candidates the minimum requirement is 55% in aggregate in 12th
  • Those candidates are eligible for admission who has passed class XII examination or equivalent from any recognized Board in India in 2014 or 2015 or are appearing in 2016
  • The candidate must appear for NEST 2016 examination

Note: Age Limit- General and OBC category candidates should be born on or after August 01, 1996. For SC/ST/PD candidates the age limit is relaxed by 5 years as on after August 01, 1996.


NEST 2017 Registration Process

Candidates have to first complete the online registration process. All the candidates have to register themselves before they proceed towards filling the NEST 2017 Application Form. The steps for NEST 2017 registration is mentioned below:

  1. Visit the official website on or after January 02, 2017 (opening date of online registration process)
  2. Click on ‘Apply Online’ option on the page
  3. A new Online Application page opens
  4. Write applicant’s name in the given space
  5. Provide a valid e-mail id
  6. Candidate has to create a password of his/her own choice in the window and must remember the same for future reference
  7. Candidate receives an e-mail at the e-mail id provided, containing a link to confirm the registration
  8. Candidate needs to click on the provided link to confirm the registration
  9. Provide the same e-mail id and password along with the secret code asked for in the window
  10. Click on ‘Login’ to complete the 

* NOTE

  • A candidate can login to his/her NEST 2017 Application profile as many times as he/she wants y using same login details
  • In case a candidate forgets the password to login, he/she should click on the ‘Forget Password’ link on the registration page and follow the directions
  • For safety purposes, a candidate can retrieve the password only twice

How to fill NEST 2017 Application Form?

After successful registration, a candidate has to fill certain details in the application form such as personal information and educational qualifications. After filling up the required information, a candidate has to upload his/her scanned photograph and signature and finally, a candidate has to make the payment of NEST Application Fees, which can be made either online or offline, through DD.

NEST 2017 Application Process is divided in 4 steps that are as follows:

Step 1: Fill/Edit Form

In the first step of NEST 2017 Application Process, candidates have to fill personal details, choice of exam centers and other academic details. Candidate has to fill the details of their qualifying examination details. If the aggregate is given in CGPA form instead of percentage than a candidate is required to calculate the equivalent percentage as per the guidelines of respective board.

A candidate can choose 2 Examination Centers out of the available list while filling up the Application Form. Out of those two selected test centers one is allotted to the candidate which is mentioned in the NEST 2017 Admit Card of the candidate.

After filling up all the details carefully and after rechecking all the entries again, candidate has to save and proceed to the next step. One must take care that information once submitted cannot be changes under any circumstance. So, it is advised to the applicants to carefully check all the entries before submitting the NEST 2017 Online Application Form.

Step 2: Upload photo and signature

In the next step, a candidate is required to upload their scanned photograph and signature. Candidates should follow the specifications and instructions mentioned below to upload the scanned images:

  • Scanned picture of passport size photograph and signature should be a JPG file
  • Candidate must first scan the passport size photograph and his/her signature and save in .jpeg format
  • Size of the image should be less than 100 KB each
  • Images must be properly cropped
  • There should be no empty space around the photo or signature
  • A candidate can login again with properly scanned images to upload, in case they are not handy

Step 3: Fees Payment

NEST 2017 Application Feescan be paid through online mode only. Candidate needs to submit the NEST 2016 Application Fees via Credit card/Debit card/Net banking. Online payment can be done through TechProcess/SBI e-Pay payments gateways. SBI-e-Pay payment gateway provides maximum of 3 chances for each applicant to retry payment against failed transactions. However, there is no such limit for TechProcess payment gateway.

In case of any amount debited for failed transactions, the same is refunded automatically within 7 days. Payment status is updated only if the transaction is successful

Note:DT/VJ/NT candidates are advised to pay fees applicable for OBC category. Candidate can login to his/her application account and track updates on the application/payment after about two weeks for DD and 3 days for online payment.

Step 4: Verification and Submission

Once a candidate has passed through all 3 steps by filling the application form, uploading images and the payment of application fees, a single page preview of NEST 2017 Application Form is generated. The page contains all the information filled by the candidate and other important information. Candidates should cross-check all the information and contact the exam conducting authority in case of any discrepancy.

After confirming and verifying all the details a candidate needs to submit the NEST 2017 Application Form. Form once submitted cannot be changed in any case. A summary page is generated after submitting the form. A copy of the summary page is to be kept safe by the candidate, In case, the candidate have selected the offline mode to make the payment of NEST Application Fees.
