NEET PG Result: NBE (National Board of Examination) has declared NEET PG Result on January 13, 2017. Whereas, the result for 50% All India Quota seats declared on January 15, 2017. Candidates can check their results on the official website of NBE at nbe.edu.in. They have to download the NEET PG score card and apply for admission to all the participating colleges.

To download scorecard and view NEET PG Result, candidates should use their Testing ID and Date of Birth. NEET PG Result is declared in the form of score card which comprises Candidate’s Name, Percentiles and All India Rank (AIR) secured. They should secure a minimum percentile in order to clear the exam. Only qualified candidates will be called to participate in NEET PG Counselling.

In order to become eligible for admissions in MD/MS/PG Diploma seats in 2017 academic session, a candidate belonging to general category have to obtain a minimum of 50 percentiles. However, for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the minimum percentile to secure is 40.

NEET PG Merit List is separately published for different categories. There is also a tie-breaker criterion in NEET PG, just in case 2 or more candidates secure the same marks. NEET PG Results, so declared, are valid all over India (except Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana) only for the current academic session.

How to check NEET PG Result?

Once NEET PG Result is declared, it can be checked online at the official website of National Board of Examinations. The result is declared in the month of January. Candidates can either enter their Confirmation Number, Testing ID and Date of Birth to access the same or download the pdf file for the same. Here are 4 simple steps to follow to check NEET PG Result:

Step 3: A pdf file will be downloaded containing the list of candidates along with their Testing IDs, Category, Scores out of 1500 and NEET PG Result status.

NBE (National Board of Examinations) is the body responsible for conducting the exam and declaring the results as well. NEET PG Result will consist of the following details:

  • Candidate’s Name
  • All India Rank
  • Total Percentile secured
  • Total marks secured
  • Candidate’s Roll Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Category

NBE declares NEET PG Result for:

  1. All India 50% Quota Seats for MD/ MG/ PG diploma courses in all states, except Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
  2. State Quota Seats for MD/ MG/ PG diploma courses in all states, except Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
  3. Admissions to MD/ MS/ PG Diploma Courses in all Private Medical Colleges/ Institutions or Universities
  4. Admissions to PG medical courses in AFMS institutes.
  5. Admission to DNB CET Board speciality courses (January 2017 session)

Validity of NEET PG Result 2017

NEET PG Result 2017 is valid for the current academic session only i.e., 2017-2018. Candidate cannot carry forward it and use it for admission to MD/ MG/ PG diploma courses in next session.

NEET PG 2017 Qualifying Criteria

A candidate must score minimum qualifying marks in order to clear the NEET PG Exam. This qualifying criterion decides the minimum percentile marks which should be scored to get admission to MD/ MG/ PG diploma courses.

The aggregate will be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in the All-India common merit list of NEET PG. The NEET PG 2017 qualifying criteria for different categories is given below:

NEET PG 2017 Equating and Scaling

Since NEET PG 2017 was conducted on different days, therefore, multiple question papers were used. The question paper was Multiple Choice Questions based one and candidate had to tick one correct answer for each question. All the computer-based examinations are equated by using a Standard Psychometrically-sound approach. Same approach is applied for scoring procedure in NEET PG Result 2017.

Some important points that are kept in mind for equating and scaling procedure of NEET PG Result 2017 are:

  • The level of difficulty of each NEET PG Question Paper may vary as per the subjects undertaken. These minor variations in difficulty level will be thoroughly administered and NEET PG Result will be analyzed henceforth.
  • A post-equating process is followed to ensure validity and fairness. This process is done to adjust differences in difficulty so that performance of candidates can be measured at same level although they may appear for different difficulty papers.
  • During the post-equating process, the level of difficulty and candidate’s performance are analyzed to prepare result justly.
  • Linear transformation process helps to interpret the performance of the candidate. The scores of the candidate are placed on a common metric or scale.
  • Post equating takes into account any statistical differences in examination difficulty and ensures all candidates are evaluated on a common scale. The aforesaid steps ensure that all examination scores are valid, equitable and fair. Merit List shall be prepared on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates.
  • Requests for re-checking/re-evaluation will not be entertained by the examination authorities.

NEET PG Merit List 2017

Candidates will be given admissions to PG courses on the basis of NEET PG 2017 Merit List. The merit list is prepared and released on the basis of:

  1. All India NEET PG Rank: It contains the names of those candidates which have cleared NEET PG. It contains the overall merit position
  2. All India 50% quota rank: This list is valid for candidates clearing NEET PG 2017 for all India 50% quota in MD/ MS/ Post Graduate Diploma Courses in the 2017 admission session.
  3. All India 50% quota category rank: This list is for the candidates who have applied through categories other than generals like OBC, SC and ST.
  4. State quota/ Private medical colleges/ Deemed University/ AFMS rank: The list determines State quota rank, state category rank, a benefit for In-service candidates, rural posting of the candidate. Check Here Merit List of State Quota Seats

Some of the important instructions regarding the generation of merit list of NEET PG are:

  • Any state cannot conduct this exam on their own. The exam is conducted at the national level and the merit list so produced is used for admissions.
  • NBE decides the merit rank of the candidate depending on the score obtained.
  • NBE does not take the responsibility of the information provided by the candidate at the time of registration. So, all the institutes must conduct their own document verification before admissions.

NEET PG 2017 Tie-Breaker

In case 2 or more candidates get the same marks, NEET PG 2017 Tie Breaker helps in deciding a unique position of each candidate in the merit list. As per NEET PG 2017 Tie Breaker criteria, if two or more candidates gets the same marks, then candidate older in age will be preferred, over the other one.


NEET PG Result for State Quota Seats

NBE will declare NEET PG Result 2017 at the national level and state level separately. The result of each state is released separately on the official website of NEET PG 2017. To check the results of any state, candidates can generate their merit list by typing the name of the state on the official website. Here are the details regarding declaration of NEET PG Result for State Quota Seats:

All India 50% Quota Seats

  • Candidates of this category can check their results on the official website of NBE
  • NEET PG 2017 results will be announced for the candidates who qualify the eligibility criteria set for counselling procedure under All India 50% Quota Seats.
  • The online counselling procedure will include qualified candidates or a total of 5 times of the number of seats available (whichever is less).
  • Counselling of those candidates will be held who eligible according to the regulations of the particular state, therefore eligibility does not solely depend upon qualifying All India 50% Quota Seats.
  • Candidate must secure minimum required percentile in order to be eligible for counselling procedure.
  • To maintain the exact percentage of OBC seat, some of the Institutes decrease or increases OBC seats in the alternate year without disturbing the total number of seats.

State Quota Seats/AFMS institutes/Other Private Medical Colleges/Universities/Institutes

The result and candidate data of State quota seats/ AFMS Institutes/ Other Private Universities/Institutes may be procured from the NBE by the concerned State Authority/University/Institute for generating their merit list/ eligibility list/category wise result as per their requirement/reservation policy. The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), Directorate General Health Services (DGHS), has no role to play in this matter. MCC will not entertain any queries in this regard.
