NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST

NDA 2017

NDA (National Defence Academy) is a national level entrance exam which is conducted by UPSC conducted twice a year for recruitment in National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy. NDA 2017 (1) Application Form will be available from January 18, 2017 till February 10, 2017.For NDA (2) form will available from June 7 – 30, 2017. Candidates can fill application forms online. Before filling the form candidates can check the eligibilty for NDA 2017.

NDA Exam (1) 2017 will hold on April 23, 2017 and NDA (2) will hold on September 10, 2017. NDA Exam consists of 2 papers i.e. Mathematics and General Knowledge. Both exam will have duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Total Marks of written exam are 900 marks.

NDA 2017 (1) Result will declare in the month of May 2017. Post result NDA will conduct the SSB for the selection of the candidates in NDA institutes.

NDA 2017 Exam Dates

UPSC NDA is conducted twice of the year. NDA 1 will hold on April 23, 2017 and NDA 2 is scheduled to take place on September 10, 2017. In the given below table, NDA 2017 exam dates are mentioned. Candidates should regularly visit the official website for any information related to the NDA exam date and consequent processes.

NDA 2017 Eligibility Criteria

NDA applicants must make sure that they accomplish the eligibility criteria for appearing in the UPSC NDA exam. The verification of the eligibility criteria would take place at the time of recruitment of NDA.

Nationality

The candidates who are nationals of the following country are eligible to appear for UPSC NDA:

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Tibetan refugee who came to India prior to January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A PIO (Person of Indian Origin) who has come back from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention to get settled down permanently in India.

Age Limit and Marital Status

Only unmarried male candidates who are born not earlier than January 2, 1998 and not later than January 1, 2001 are eligible to appear for UPSC NDA.

Candidates should note that once a Date of Birth of the candidates has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the Commission for the purpose of admission to an Examination then no change will be granted subsequently or at any subsequent examination on any ground.

The Commission would only approve of the DOB (date of birth) as recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or an extract from Register of Matriculates maintained by a University.

The candidates who are willing to appear for UPSC NDA, must undertake not to marry until they complete their full training. If a candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application though successful at this or any subsequent Examination will not be selected for training.

Educational Qualifications

(i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: Candidates must be 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University in order to get eligible for UPSC NDA.

(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: Candidates who are willing to appear for UPSC NDA should be 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University in order to be eligible for UPSC NDA.

Candidates who are appearing in the Class 12 under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination are also eligible to apply for NDA exam.

NDA 2017 Application Form

Application form for NDA 2017 can be obtained from the official website of UPSC. Candidates can have to apply online. Here are some of points to keep in mind for the NDA Application forms.

  • Application form for NDA 1 2017 will be available from January 10 and for NDA 2 applications will be registered from June 7, 2017.
  • Candidates have to fill form very carefully as no changes will allow to make after submission of form.
  • Candidates must keep the scanned copies of all the documents required during the registration.
  • After the registration candidates must note down the Application Number.
  • There is no need to send the printed application form to the Authority. 

NDA Form Application Fee

  • Candidates from General and OBC catogories have to pay Rs.100/-
  • Candidates from SC/ST Category and wards of NCOs/JCOs/ORs are exempted from the fee.
  • The application fee payment can be done via cash payment in any branch of SBI Bank or through net banking, visa/master/debit card.

NDA 2017 Admit Card

The candidates can avail the NDA Admit Card only after successful submission of the NDA Application form. The NDA Admit Card will be available on the official website 3 weeks prior to the date of conduction of the NDA exam. UPSC Admit Card for NDA exam can be downloaded from the official website from February 2017 onwards.

The candidates must note that no NDA Admit card will be sent to the candidate in hardcopy or via e-mail. The candidates can report the discrepancies in the Admit Card for NDA to UPSC and demand for a rectified NDA Admit Card before the exam. The candidates are required to carry a Photo ID proof and 2 passport sized photographs to the NDA Exam Center along with the NDA Admit Card.

NDA 2017 Exam Pattern

NDA Exam 2017 would be conducted on offline mode only. There are total 2 papers in NDA exam 2017 namely Mathematics (300 marks) and General Ability Test (600 marks). The total duration of the exam is 5 hours (2 hours 30 minutes for each paper). The information related to exam duration, marking scheme, number of questions in the entrance test is discussed in the table below.

NDA 2017 Result

NDA 2017 Result will be announced by UPSC after one month of the examination. Candidates can check the result from official website. Candidates must take the printout of the NDA Result and keep it carefully for the further use. NDA result for the Written exam and Slection process (SSB) will declare separately. The written exam result will be declared before the SSB. Selected candidated basedon written exam result will becalled for SSB.

  • Find and click on the link ‘Written Result NDA 1 Exam 2017’
  • Check the result by finding your roll number amongst the qualified roll numbers given in the list.

NDA 2017 Selection Process

The NDA Selection Process is a 2 stage process which involves conduction of written test in Stage 1 followed by SSB interview as the Stage 2. The candidates have to appear for psychological and intelligence test on the 1st day of reporting to the Selection Centers/ Air Force Selection Boards. The candidates must note that they will be marked out of 900 marks for both stages collectively during the NDA recruitment.

The candidates who clear Stage 1 qualify for Stage 2 of the Selection Process for NDA. The candidates who clear the entire selection process for NDA are mentioned in the Final Merit List generated by the Board. The candidates who clear the entire process have to submit the original and photocopy of the Class 10 Certificate and Class 12 Passing Certificate.

The recruitment process for NDA will commence shortly after the declaration of NDA result.

Personal Interview

UPSC will declare the list of qualified candidates based on the performance in the written exam. The confidence and personality of the candidate will be judged by the interview panel. Candidate has to show the desire of serving the country and to be served in the armed forces in order to get recruited. Candidates qualifying in the interview will be eligible for the verification round.

Candidates are required to report for SSB interview on the date and time intimated to them in the call up letter for personal interview. Candidates can download from the official website of UPSC.

Candidate's Verification

The next step after the Personal Interview round is verification of candidate i.e., whether they satisfy eligibility criteria and other admission requirements. The verification of candidate step includes primarily document verification. Candidates who qualify the SSB interview will have to present their required set of original documents along with 1 set of photocopy of the required documents at SSC (Services Selection Center) after the conduct of SSB interview. Given below is the list of documents that are to be carried at the time of NDA 2017 selection process.

  • Qualification Certificate
  • Proof of Identity (Pan card, Voter ID, Aadhar Card, etc.)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport Size Photographs
  • Category certificate for the Reserved category candidates
  • Proof of Residence

Medical Examination

The last step of the NDA Selection Process 2017 is Medical Examination. The candidates will be referred to the Board of Service Medical Officers by SSB for medical examination. Candidates will be selected if and only if they are medically fit. Candidates who are declared as unfit by the Medical Board will be informed accordingly.

NDA Cut Off

NDA 2017 cut-off will be declared by the May 2017. UPSC will publish the NDA cut-off soon after the declaration of NDA result. Candidates who clear the minimum qualifying marks in NDA 2017 written examination will be called for the SSB interview.

The NDA 2017 cutoff is the minimum score that is required by the candidates clearing the written entrance examination as well as the total cutoff score required by all the candidates at the end of various selection rounds. The cutoff is affected by the following factors-

  • Level of Difficulty of the examination
  • Number of available seats
  • Previous trends in UPSC cutoff for NDA
  • Number of Participants in the NDA Exam 2017
