MU OET 2017 Registration, Exam Dates, Admit Card

MU OET 2017 Registration will conclude on March 27, 2017. The candidates can fill the application form online by visiting Manipal University official website. The exam is conducted by Manipal University for admission to Engineering, Pharmacy and many other courses in Manipal University and its constituent colleges.

Candidates who have scored a minimum of 50% marks in Class XII with science subjects are eligible. The exam will be conducted online and will consist of objective questions. Candidates must carry MU OET Admit Card along with them at the exam Centre. MU OET Result will be announced on the official website. The result will be based on the marks scored by the candidates in the entrance exam. MU OET 2017 counselling process will begin in the month of June and only qualified candidates will be called for the same.

MU OET 2017 Application Process

The candidates are required to apply for MU OET 2017 by visiting the official website. The process is quite simple to understand and easy to follow. Candidates can refer to the information given below to register for MU OET 2017.

  • Visit the official website for MU OET 2017.
  • Fill in the basic details such as name, gender, email id, contact number and date of birth.
  • Select the program you wish to apply for and the stream.
  • Provide locations details such as country, state and city and mention your nationality.
  • Click on “Submit” to complete the registration process.

After the registration is complete, the application number along with the login ID and password will be mailed to the candidate’s registered email ID.

There are five steps in the MU OET application process. The candidate will have to complete all five steps to finish the application process successfully. The details regarding the steps are given below.

Step 1: Basic Information

The candidate will have to provide some basic details such as parents’ name and date of birth.

Step 2: Contact Information

Here, the candidates will have to fill out their address, mobile number and email id.

Step 3: Education Qualification

The candidate will have to provide the name of their school, qualifying exam, board and year of passing. The candidate will also have to upload scanned copies of his photograph and signature.

The photograph must be recent and passport sized and taken with a light (preferably white) background. The signature must be signed with a blue / black pen on a white background.

Step 4: Programs and Payment

Here, the candidate will have to select the course they want to take admission in and make the fee payment.

Step 5: Confirmation

The candidate must verify all the information provided and press on Submit. The final application form will be produced that the candidate should save and take a print out of.

The candidates have the option to track the status of their MU OET 2017 applications. For this purpose, candidates can visit the official website. Here, they will need to provide their application number and click on “Track” button. They will then be provided with the status of their application.

MU OET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates wishing to join Manipal University and pursue a career in engineering must first check the eligibility criteria. Only those who satisfy all the conditions specified will be allowed to appear in MU OET 2017. The detailed MU OET 2017 Eligibility Criteria are given below:

  • The applicant must have appeared in and qualified MU OET 2017.
  • Candidate must have passed 10+2/A Level/IB/American 12th grade or an equivalent exam with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidate must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Mathematics and one of the optional subjects.
  • Those who are in the final year of Class XII or have appeared are also eligible to apply.

MU OET 2017 Application fee

The cost of MU OET 2017 application for Indian students is Rs.600 plus an additional cost of Rs.1400 as entrance fee. The candidates can choose to make the payment either through online options or offline. For online fee payment, candidate can use a credit card / debit card or net banking.

On the other hand, if the candidate chooses to pay the fee offline, he would have to do so by the means of a Demand Draft (DD). The DD must be drawn in favour of “Manipal University” and should be payable at either Udupi or Manipal.

MU OET 2017 Admit Card

The MU OET 2017 hall ticket will be available for download on the official link provided by the exam conducting body, 24 hours after the candidate has booked the slot for test taking.

The admit card is a very important document that the applicants must carry on the day of the exam. Entry inside the exam hall without the admit card will not be allowed. The steps to download the MU OET 2017 Admit Card are given below:

  • Visit the official website
  • Enter your application form number and online slot booking password.
  • Click on “Submit”.
  • View and save your admit card.

It must be noted that the admit card will also be sent on the registered email id of the candidates. However, no hall tickets will be sent to the candidates via post.

The candidates must carry the following documents on the day of the exam:

  • 2 copies of the admit card
  • 1 photocopy of the application form
  • photo identification

  3. EC Voter ID card
  4. PAN card
  5. School or college ID card

While in the exam hall, the candidates must check that their computer system is powered on and the mouse and keyboard are functioning correctly. In case of any problem, the invigilator must be informed. Also, the rough paper given during the exam must be returned to the invigilator after the test is over.


MU OET 2017 Slot Booking

After the candidate has completed the application process for MU OET 2017, he will be required to participate in the slot booking process. The Online Test Booking System (OTBS) is used for this purpose. The detailed step by step procedure is explained below.

  • Visit the official website
  • Enter your application number and password to login.
  • Pick a test centre of your choice and book a time slot on a particular day according to your convenience.
  • If no slots are available on that day, search for slots for a different day.
  • If no slots are available for that particular centre, search for slots for a different centre.

The candidate must be careful while booking the slot for the test, since it cannot be changed to a different centre or day, once it has been booked. An email confirming the slot booking will be sent to the candidates.

It may be noted that a candidate will be allowed a second attempt for the exam in case they are not fully satisfied with their marks in the first attempt. The better of the two scores will be considered while preparing the merit list.

The candidates, desirous of taking a second attempt, will have to pay the entrance fee again and book the available slot for the second test.

A third and final attempt will also be allowed for candidates who have taken both first and second attempt. The entrance fee will have to be paid one more time and booking for available slot for the third test will have to be done.

MU OET 2017 Exam Centres

The exam for MU OET 2017 will be conducted in around 45 cities all over the country. The candidates can choose any one of these as their test city and book the test date using the OTBS feature provided by Manipal University. The complete list of all test cities is given below.

MU OET 2017 Cut-Off

The candidates will have to score the minimum cut-off marks in order to qualify the exam and make it to the merit list. Only those candidates who score the MU OET 2017 cut-off marks will be eligible for the counselling process.

MU OET 2017 Counselling

As soon as the results are announced, the MU OET 2017 counselling process will start. Only students who have qualified the entrance exam will be eligible for participating in the counselling rounds. The candidates will have to first fill in the choices for the colleges and streams they wish to take admission in. The process of choice filling is explained below:

  • Visit the official website and login using your application number and password.
  • Fill or modify your choices in the order of your preference.
  • Choice can be edited as many times as desired but must be locked before the specified deadline or else, they will be locked automatically.
  • Take a printout of your final choices.
  • ?If allotted a seat, candidate will have to accept and complete the admission process.
  • If the candidate rejects the seat, he will not be allowed to participate in any rounds of the counselling process, except for the spot round.

There will be seven total rounds and the details for each round can be found below:

First round (Physical round)

  • Candidate needs to fill the Registration form.
  • Next step is document verification at the respective institute.
  • Then seats will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of their MU OET 2017 score.
  • Those candidates who haven’t been allotted a seat in the first round or those who want a better seat in the next round will be put on the waitlist.

Second, Third and Fourth round (Online round)

  • The candidates who have taken a seat in the previous round but want to participate in the next round are eligible.
  • Such candidates will need to update their choices.?
  • Candidates who registered but did not get any seats in the previous round are also eligible to participate.

Fifth round (Online round)

  • For this final round of counselling, those candidates who have not registered yet for any rounds and are participating for the first time in the counselling process are eligible.
  • Any other candidates who either have not been allotted a seat in previous rounds or want a higher seat in the next round can also participate.
  • Such candidates will need to update their choices.

Intra-Institute Sliding (Physical Round)

  • If a vacancy exists after all five rounds, then intra-institute sliding will be held for the already admitted candidates.
  • This round is only for seats inside the particular institute.
  • Candidates will have to physically report to the allotment centre of the respective institute to participate in the intra-institute sliding.
  • Filling and locking of choices will have to done at the specified venue.
  1. Spot Round (Physical Round)
  • In this round, seats vacant after the intra-institute sliding will be filled.
  • The candidates who have not registered in any of the previous rounds of counselling are eligible for this round.
  • Those who registered for previous rounds but haven’t been allotted a seat, those who did not pay the balance course fees after allotment and those who took the seat but withdrew later are all eligible for this round.
  • The candidates who took the seat and joined the respective institute are eligible as well, but will have to give up the allotted seat to participate in the spot round.
  • ?Candidates will have to physically report to the allotment centre on the day of the spot round counselling.
  • Seats will be allotted based on MUOT 2017 rank of the candidates and availability of seats.
  • In case a seat is allotted to the candidate, he will have to take the admission order and report to the allotted institute as soon as possible.

There are some very important documents that the candidate will need to carry along for the process of counselling. These must be produced in original with one set of photocopies, unless stated otherwise.

  • Admit Card for MU OET 2017
  • Candidate’s Class X and Class XII marks sheet
  • Candidate’s Character certificate issued by the school
  • Candidate’s Transfer certificate issued by the school
  • Copy of PAN card of the candidate’s parent
  • Four recent and identical passport size photographs and one stamp size photograph
  • DD for payment of Course fee and Registration fee

MU OET 2017 Seat Allotment

The process of seat allotment is for those candidates who participate in the MU OET 2017 counselling process. If a candidate is allotted a seat, he will receive an email containing the allotment details. Hence, the candidates are advised to check their emails frequently.

The details for the seat allotment process are mentioned below:

  • If the candidate is allotted a seat for the first time, he will have to make the payment of balance course fees in favour of “Manipal Academy of Higher Education”.
  • The candidate will be able to download the letter for his Provisional Admission from the official portal.
  • If the candidate doesn’t wish to participate in further rounds, he must opt out of the counselling process.
  • If the candidate wants to participate in the next round of counselling, he will have to modify his choices and click on “Update” button.
  • If choices are not updated, the previous choices will be considered for the next round.
  • In case a candidate is allotted the upgraded seat of his choice, he will not be able to go back to the previously allotted seat and will be required to accept the upgraded seat.
  • If no seat is allotted to the candidates, he has the option to participate in the next round of counselling.
  • It may be noted that if the candidate has not been allotted a seat till the fifth round, then he will be eligible for only the spot round of counselling.
