MICAT 2018 Syllabus

MICAT 2018 is conducted in two phases. The Management aspirants preparing for MICAT 2018 should go through the complete MICAT 2018 Syllabus. The MICAT Syllabus like any other entrance test for management admissions, is also largely the based on four sections. 

However, there is a specific section in the entrance examination of MICAT known as the Psychometric test. This article aims to guide you through everything you need to know about the MICAT Exam Pattern and the details on the relevant subjects, topics and sub-topics of the MICAT Syllabus 2018. The MICAT Exam Pattern includes both descriptive as well as objective questions in the MICA Aptitude test 2018.


MICAT 2018 Syllabus

MICAT Syllabus is designed to assess analytical aptitude, differing thinking, written communication skills, and general awareness about the communications industry. Based on candidate’s performance in MICAT and CAT/XAT/GMAT, they will be invited for Group Exercise and Personal Interview to MICA campus, Ahmedabad.

The MICAT Syllabus consists of 2 parts. First part comprises of General Awareness and Reasoning sections and second part includes section on Psychometric Test. The duration of MICAT exam is 2 hours.

MICAT Syllabus Paper 1

Part I of MICAT comprises of total 60 questions from Reasoning and General Questions. All the questions would be in MCQ format. The details for each section is mentioned below.

  1. MICAT Syllabus Reasoning

Reasoning which forms a major part of any other Management examination and MICAT is no different. Candidates can reallly score well in this section if they apply good analytical skills.

  • The topics included in this section are Visual Reasoning, Word Association, Data Sufficiency and Statement Conclusion.
  • It consists of 35 questions with 5 answer options for all the questions.
  • The candidates are judged on their analytical abilities in this section.
  1. MICAT Syllabus General Awareness

MICA trains its students not only in management abilities but also according to the current demands and requirements of the world. The questions pertain to topics such as advertising, general global awareness, general knowledge, marketing and media. This section consists of 25 questions with 4 options for every question. Some of the topics that candidates can focus upon during their preparation would be

MICAT Syllabus Part II: Writing Ability

Writing Ability is one of the major areas where a candidate’s ideas can be approached right at its source. Check the various aspects of Writing Ability in MICAT 2018.

  • It judges candidates based on their views on a particular topic.
  • In this part, the candidate will be given a topic and the candidate will have to write both for and against the topic.
  • But the conclusion has to be one dimensional that has to either support or oppose the motion. Not taking a stance would mean that one would not be marked for the essay writing and will also show lack of conviction in the ideas portrayed. 
  • The next question in this section is based on a picture composition.
  • On the basis of pictures given in the question, the candidates have to write a story.

 

MICAT Paper 2: Psychometric Test

This section essentially differs from other management entrance examinations. Some of the key aspects of Psychometric test are discussed below for the reference of all aspirants.

  • The paper 2 comprises Psychometric Test and the duration for the test is 30 minutes.
  • The Psychometric test is usually divided into 3 different sets of questions.
  1. First set had 30 statements from which candidates need to pick the 10 best qualities associated with their own personalities.
  2. Candidates have to choose from a set of 2 arguements and give rating on the basis of closeness to their personality.
  3. In the third set, candidates to give rating on the scale of 1 to 6 for the responses under a certain scenario in terms of their priority.
  • The paper primarily aims to assess candidates’ personality and verify whether he/she is fit to be part of MICAT.
  • The exam is designed to check candidates’ thought process and understanding of various problem solving principles.

PGDM-C AT MICA

The much sought after course PGDM-C is the flagship programme of MICA, Ahmedabad.

  • The two-year, full-time, residential programme is AICTE approved and is deemed equivalent to an MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • The approach that is followed by the Course is a differentiated MBA programme that creates leadership through Creative Thinking, Communication and Consumer-Centricity which gives it a creative edge over the other business schools and management examinations.
  • Communication has been one of the main core area of development for MICA over the years.
  • The admission to PGDM-C program is done on the basis of candidates’ performance in any one of the 3 entrance exams: CAT 2016, XAT 2018 and GMAT 2015 Onwards as well as their performance inMICAT Entrance Exam.

MICAT 2018 Exam Pattern

The entrance examination of MICA is slightly different from the other Management entrance examinations that are held in India.

  • MICAT would be conducted in online mode (computer based test).
  • The test will assess the candidates applying in areas such as Divergent Thinking Abilities, Written Communication Abilities, General Awareness about contemporary social and business issues, including areas relevant to media, marketing, advertising & current affairs and Analytical & Verbal Abilities.
  • The Admission test also includes a psychometric examination to judge candidate’s leadership potential
  • The total duration of the exam is 2 hours and 5 minutes. MICAT Paper I is conducted for 35 minutes and Paper II is conducted for 90 minutes.
