CHECK MHT CET Engineering Cutoff

This year admissions would be conducted through a single Centralized Allotment Process as the State CET Cell of Maharashtra is holding a common entrance test (CET) for Health Sciences, Engineering degree and Pharmacy degree courses. However, we can still look at the counselling and seat allocation process from last year i.e., DTE counselling process for Engineering courses – 2015, to get a fair idea of the seat distribution and eligibility criterion.

MHT CET Engineering - Allocation and Reservation of Seats: There are different types of institutes who would participate in the Centralized Allotment Process for various engineering courses in the state of Maharashtra. The breakup of sanctioned seats intake from last year’s counselling process is provided below. The seats are further classified under different categories based on the reservation and eligibility criterion.

  1. The seats reserved for Maharashtra State Candidates are further grouped under different categories:
  • Those seats which will be offered for admission to Maharashtra State Candidates irrespective of their Home University Area are known as State Level Seats (SL Seats).
  • There are specific seats which are reserved for Home University i.e., the University under the jurisdiction of which that institute falls. These are called Home University (HU Seats). They are available for allotment through CAP for the Maharashtra Candidates who have their Home University status as that particular University for whose seats they are applying. To take an example, candidates having their home university as Mumbai University will be eligible for admission to the Home University seats of those institutes which are located in the jurisdiction of Mumbai University.
  • There is certain percentage of seats which are reserved for candidates belonging to Universities other than Home University (OHU Seats) i.e. for the Universities other than the Home University under the jurisdiction of which that institute falls. These are known as OHU seats. Candidates are required to opt for seats of other universities (excluding their home university) which fall under OHU seats. To take an example, candidates who have their home university as Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University will not be considered eligible for the OHU seats of those institutes which are located in Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. Candidates having their home University other than Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University are eligible to apply for OHU seats of the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.
  1. There are certain seats which are categorized as All India Seats. All the seats under this category will be treated as “General Category” seats and No reservation is applicable on these seats for candidates of backward class categories, Ladies, PH, and Defense etc. Seats under this category would be allotted on the basis of All India Rank secured by candidates in JEE Main 2015 – Paper I.
  2. Five Percent (5%) seats of sanctioned intake per course is available for admission under Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS). All these seats are supernumerary in nature and would be filled through Centralized Admission Process conducted by State CET Cell, Government of Maharashtra. They are categorized as TFWS seats.
