KMAT 2017 Eligibility

KMAT Eligibility Criteria is defined by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA). It is the conducting body of Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT). Through this exam, candidates can get admissions to MBA/ PGDM and MCA Programs offered in Bangalore and Karnataka. It is important for candidates to go through the eligibility standards before applying for KMAT 2017.

Listed below are quick facts related to KMAT Eligibility:

  • The basic eligibility to take the exam is to hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised college/ university.
  • It is mandatory to have Mathematics as main subject in either Class XII or at graduation level.
  • Candidates have to produce required documents to prove the eligibility for category during the counselling process.
  • The application form filling window will close on July 16, 2017.

For the academic session 2017-18, KMAT 2017 is scheduled for July 30, 2017. It is conducted in offline mode with objective type questions. As for the marking scheme, each question carries 1 mark and there is no provision of negative marking. Check KMAT Exam Pattern


KMAT 2017 Eligibility

Through KMAT Scores, candidates can get admissions to MBA/ PGDM or MCA programs offered at various colleges in Bangalore and Karnataka. The conducting body has defined minimum requisite eligibility standards that need to be satisfied to fill in the form. Listed below are the standards which will indicate if they can appear for KMAT 2017:

General Eligibility 

  • The minimum age required for admissions to post graduate program through KMAT 2017 is 21 years. There is no specific upper age limit to apply for the course
  • Candidates in their final year of Bachelor’s degree can also apply for KMAT 2017.
  • Such candidates must have completed their Bachelor’s degree with before the time of KMAT 2017 Admission.
  • Candidates must have secured percentage equal to or more than minimum requisite percentage as per their exam and their category.
  • In case a candidate is unable to produce necessary documents supporting their claim of completion of Bachelor’s degree, they will be removed from the process thereafter.

Eligibility for KMAT MBA/ PGDM

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 3 years duration, and should have secured at least 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST candidate). 
  • Masters degree examination of any recognized education body in Commerce, Management, Arts, Social Sciences, Engineering/ Technology or equivalent, and should have secured at least 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST candidate).
  • Candidates in their final year of Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply.

Eligibility for KMAT MCA

  • Candidates applying for MCA Program, they should have studied Mathematics at 10+2 level or at the graduation level.
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 3 years duration, and should have secured at least 50% in aggregate

KMAT 2017 Reservation Policy

KMAT 2017 Reservation Policy is decided as per the UGC guidelines. The various KMAT 2017 Reserved categories are mentioned below:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC)
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

The candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) are provided 15% Reservation of seats through KMAT 2017. The Scheduled Tribe (ST) is given a seat reservation of 7.5% through KMAT 2017. The Other Backward Classes (OBC) have a Reservation of 27% through KMAT 2017. The Persons with Disabilities are given 3% horizontal reservation in each category.

Note: Candidates with Low Vision/ Blindness, Hearing Impairment, and Locomotor Disability/ Cerebral Palsy can claim KMAT 2017 Reservation under Persons with Disabilities (PwD).


KMAT Application Form

The registration window for KMAT 2017 becomes functional from May 20, 2017. It is important to fill in the form before the registration process closes i.e. July 16, 2017. As of now, there is no provision of form correction by KPPGCA. So, one must carefully provide all the information properly and review it before submitting.  

  • KMAT Application Form can be accessed by visiting KMAT Official Website i.e. kmatindia.com
  • The application fee is same for all the categories. An amount of INR 1000 is to be paid in the form of Demand Draft. No other mode of payment is available.
  • Information such as Name, contact number, and email id is required to register for KMAT 2017
  • No applications will be accepted by KPPGCA after the last date.

Mentioned below are the steps that should be followed to register for KMAT 2017:

Step 1: Visit KMAT Official Website i.e.kmatindia.com. 

Step 2: Scroll down and following tab will appear, as highlighted below

Step 3: Click on ‘Apply Now for KMAT 2017’ tab.

Step 4: A new page will appear, it will provide instructions related to KMAT Application Form. One must go through all the instructions thoroughly so as to avoid committing mistakes while filling Application Form of KMAT.

Step 5: After reading the instructions, now click on ‘Register’ tab and fill all the required details.

Step 6: After filling all details, click on ‘Submit’ tab. Candidates will then be issued a ‘Reference Number’. It will be sent to the mobile number and email ID as mentioned at the time of applying.

Step 7: Next, re-login using the reference number and DOB in order to fill the form.

After providing these credentials, candidates will be redirected to a new window. Here, they are required to fill in final KMAT Application Form. 

Note: Candidate registering for MBA/PGDM and MCA both will be required to register separately for each course. For each program, a separate admit card will be issued. Candidates are required to present respective admit cards for KMAT 2017 exams. Candidates are advised to carry a hard copy of completed application form to the Test Centre.
