KMAT Kerala 2017 Exam Pattern

The KMAT Kerala (Kerala Management Admission Test) is a  2 hour and 30 minutes duration examination conducted in Pen and Paper mode. The KMAT Kerala 2017 Exam Pattern consists of 180 questions. The paper is segregated into 4 sections- English Language Usage and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Sufficiency & Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge and Contemporary Business Scenario. 

The medium of the examination is English. The KMAT Kerala Exam Pattern follows the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format. Every question carries 4 marks each and the total marks allocated for the exam is 720. The first phase for KMAT Kerala 2017 will be held on November 06, 2016 across all the districts of Kerala.

KMAT Kerala 2017 Time Duration

Total time duration of KMAT Kerala 2017 is 2 and ½ hours. A candidate must divide the total time according to no. of sections in the test. Otherwise, he/she might fail to complete the test in time. KMAT Kerala 2017 Marking Scheme

According to the KMAT Kerala 2017 Marking Scheme, each question carries 4 marks. There is no negative marking scheme applicable in the test. There are total 180 questions divided in 4 sections. It is important for a candidate to know the exact marking scheme in order to prepare and answer carefully.


KMAT 2017 Syllabus

KMAT Kerala Syllabus for the test is similar to that of other MBA entrance exams like CAT or CMAT. KMAT Kerala 2017 Syllabus is based on the following 4 subjects.

English Language and Reading Comprehension: There will be total 50 questions from this section. This section primarily involves questions from topics such as English grammar, Vocabulary and Language Usage, Comprehension Passage, etc. Some of the key topics in this section are mentioned below.

Quantitative Aptitude: Quantitative Aptitude is a scoring section if the candidates have a clear understanding of the crucial concepts of Mathematics and the knowledge of various Mathematical formulae. The questions are based on topics such as Arithmetic, Algebra, Mensuration, Calculus, Geometry. There are total 50 questions in Quantitative Aptitude section.

  • Arithmetic - Number System, HCF, LCM, Ratio & Proportion, Simplification, Percentage
  • Algebra - Theory of Equations, Sequence & Series, Quadratic Equation, Permutation & Combination
  • Geometry - Angles, Lines, Triangles, Circles
  • Mensuration - Areas and Volumes – Rectangles, Squares, Triangles, Circles, Cubes, Cones, Spheres, Pipes and Cistern
  • Calculus - Maxima and Minima, Function
  • Trigonometry - Trigonometric Ratios, Heights and Distances

Data Sufficiency and Logical Reasoning: In this section, the candidates need to go through various data sets and derive the correct answer by analyzing the pattern or data structure. The questions are framed in the form of various graphs, pie charts, charts in the data sufficiency section.

Logical Reasoning: Logical Reasoning requires an application of some common problem-solving principles as well as a strong analytical bent of mind. The key topics for Logical Reasoning are: Blood Relations, Syllogism, Venn Diagram, Propositions, Data Arrangement, Puzzles, Assumptions, Statements
