What do you mean by G 55?

There are some circumstances in which the applicants may not get ranks allotted after the declaration of result. It may occur due to following reasons:-

  • For want of Q. E. Marks, an applicant might have failed to get the rank
  • A rank may not be allotted, if a student has marked theversion code incorrectly.
  • Sometimes, Q.E. Marks may alter due to reassessment or otherwise, when evaluated, a new ranking becomes essential.

The candidates that fall under the above mentioned categories are allocated new ranks. The ranks of the candidates whose results are already announced are not disturbed in this process.

The ranks are allocated in between two integers without varying the earlier rank numbers. The ranks are allotted after the announcement of the results. It can be explained with a help of an example. For instance, if two candidates have ranks 1506 and 1507 and according to the KEA computer your rank should be after the candidate with rank 1506 and before the candidate with rank 1507. Then, the computer had to place you between 1506 and 1507.

The KEA computer produces a large number of ranks between two integers by dividing the space alphabetically from A to Z. After that every alphabet is subdivided from 1 to 99. If a new rank is necessary to be allocated between two integer ranks, the division number ‘G 55’ is assigned prior to the previous rank. If one more rank requires to be allocated between the rank 1507 and 1507G 55, the computer allocates a rank as 1507G 44 and so on.
