KCET 2017 Counselling

Candidates who have scored the minimum qualifying marks in KCET 2017 have to produce their documents for verification for the admission processes. Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will begin the process from June 3, 2017. The eligible candidates willing to take admission, have to participate in counselling. Before the counselling process, interaction sessions would be held at all the helpline centers. Document verification, payment of fees and other details are involved in the interaction session. When the document verification for KCET is complete, eligible candidates will get a secret key to register at online entry portal. Only after the document verification, candidates will be able to enter their choices online.

The document verification for sports category is scheduled to commence on June 2, 2017. The verification of document is only for preference 1 to 4 candidates only. The preference 5 candidates need not attend the process of verification. Given below table shows the preferences indicated by the candidates in the KCET 2017 Application Form-

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will be conducting the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET-2017) in May 2017. The Counselling process will begin from the first week of June and will span for a period of almost a month. During this time, candidates would be expected to pay great attention to each detail of the counseling process that involves candidate registration post assignment of rank based on performance in the KCET 2017, identifying the nearest help centers, collecting and maintaining a checklist of all documents required for document verification, report to the identified help center for document verification, filling in choices for the courses, physical counseling for admission, finding yourself on the seat matrix and finally securing a seat in one of the esteemed colleges under the KEA.

KCET 2017 Counselling Process

KEA has announced that the counseling procedure for admission into engineering institutions will be conducted first week of June 2017 onwards, for students who will meet the cutoffs for this year. Nearly 1.5 lakh students compete every year to secure a seat in across 220 engineering colleges in Karnataka.

Candidates who would have been assigned ranks in KCET 2017 will have to contact the nearest KCET Helpline Centers as declared by KEA for Verification of their Documents. In 2015, 13 KEA Helpline Centers were operational and helpline centers in the same range are expected this year as well.

While the detailed Counselling procedure for admission year 2017 has not been declared by KEA, we provide you with the KCET Counselling Procedure for 2015 to abreast you with the scenario and the steps to follow to ease your way through securing admission in a prestigious college under KEA. Candidates should constantly check the official KEA website and inbox of their registered email IDs for any important updates.

Candidate Registration

  • Candidates, who have been assigned ranks in KCET 2015, will report to their nearest helpline centres as per the schedule.
  • The candidates have to register at any of the 13 helpline centres well before the deadlines.
  • For further verification, the candidates must register their KCET 2015 number in the computer system at the helpline centre
  • The candidates are required to carry and furnish all necessary documents and certificates for the purpose of verification
  • Helpline centres are usually set up in atleast the following districts of Karnataka: Shimoga, Bijapur, Bangalore, Belgaum, Gulbarga,  Mangalore,Davangere, Hassan, Mysore, Raichur, Karwar, Dharwad and Bellary. However, more than one helpline centre may be set up in a single district.

Documents for Verification

The candidates should carry all necessary documents and certificates in original, self-attested and otherwise xerox copes for the purpose of verification to the KCET 2017 Counselling venue. These documents would be checked with great detail and admission would be subject to cancellation if all the documents are not produced properly and in the right condition by the candidate.

Keep the following checklist handy at the time of verification. Arrange all your original documents and one set of self-attested  photocopies in the sequential order shown below and produce the same on the verification counter when you go for verification of documents:  

  • KCET 2015 Exam Hall Ticket/ Admit card and Mark sheet
  • Xerox of completely filled KCET 2015 Exam Application form
  • School/College ID Card or any other Photo ID Proof
  • SSLC/Class X Mark sheet and Pass Certificate
  • 2nd PUC/ Class XII Mark sheet and Pass Certificate
  • Study Certificate counter signed by the concerned BEO/DDPI

*DDPI: Deputy Director of Instruction Office

*BEO: Block Education Officer

  • Preferably 5 recent Passport Sized Photographs with white background.

The following documents should be produced only IF Applicable:

  • Rural Study Certificate counter signed by the concerned BEO
  • Income Certificate obtained from concerned Tahasildar to claim “Supernumerary Quota” seats.
  • Kannada Medium Study Certificate counter signed by the concerned BEO for candidates claiming Kannada Medium reservation benefits.
  • Duly sworn in Affidavit of the candidate claiming eligibility under Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses.
  • IDENTITY CARD issued by the Jurisdictional Deputy Commissioner / District Magistrate, for the candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats under Jammu & Kashmiri Migrants quota.
  • Parent’s study certificate / Parent’s Hometown certificate /Parent’s Domicile certificate / Parent’s Employment certificate / Parent’s Cumulative Record/ Parent’s Marks Card, etc., for the candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats based on the domicile / study / employment of the parent.
  • A verification certificate (only for GM candidates).
  • Caste Certificate / Caste Income Certificate / Income Certificate obtained from the concerned Tahasildar for the candidates claiming Reservation benefits.

Note : CBSE, CISCE, J & K candidates need to produce the study certificate obtained from the Principal of their respective schools. Countersign from DDPI/ BEO is not required

Documents Verification Schedule

The potential candidates must bring all original and self- attested documents without any hiccups as document issues on the day of verification may lead to the candidate not being able to register and hence, not being eligible to carry out the filling of options process

You need to carry all your original documents for verification but only the photocopies of your certificates and documents will be retained by the KEA. The originals will be safely handed over to you by the official at the helpline center along with a verification slip, once the candidate data is fed into the online portal linked to KEA server.

Apart from the original documents and certificates, you will be given a verification slip and an acknowledgement. Before leaving the verification counter, make sure that all the entries on the verification slip are valid and that nothing is missing. In case of any discrepancy report to the Verification official immediately.

Note: Once the verification process is completed, the candidate cannot request any changes to the data.

  • June 14, 2017: the portal will be operational and the candidate will be able to fill his/her options for branch, college and seat preferences. The candidate will also be able to view the fee structure and seat allocation for the year.
  • June 15-22, 2017:ctimeline to fill in the state preferences for college and course. If you’re not happy with the allocated seat, you can participate in the subsequent Counselling round.
  • June 26, 2017: final seat allotment announced, seat allocated will not be subjected to cchange. It is mandatory to submit the fee and  report physically in order to claim the seat

Important:  If your qualifying marks change post verification process, it is your duty to inform the KEA for a new rank. However, because of the new rank, the seat allocated to you based on the previous rank stands cancelled at any stage.

User ID & Password:

  • Eligible candidates post the verification process are assigned User ID and password credentials for further entry of options.
  • Ensure that you do not share these credentials with anyone. KEA will take no responsibility in regard of unauthorized use of your credentials by anyone else

Entry of Options:

  • Before you start filling your options online, keep KCET application number, the unique keyword on your verification slip,  and credentials for counselling handy. Seat matrix issued by the KEA will be displayed on the website for each college, category and course. 
  • You can enter all the choices of courses as per your eligibility. Even better, you can modify your order of choices without any restraints
  • The Option Entry Form contains the priority order number, discipline, college name, college code and course code.
  • In order to appear for the  seat allotment phase, don’t forget to lock your choices at the earliest

Seat Allotment

  • The seats are allotted to candidates according to the rankings based on their performance in the entrance test and the qualifying exams.
  • Factors that affect seat allocation are availibility of seats, candidate’s preferred choices and results of the entrance test.
  • Candidates are required to download their seat allotment letters and deposit the respective admission fee. Those not satisfied with the seat allotment can participate in the next round of counselling

Payment of Fees & Admission Order Receipt:

  • Fee Payment: The candidates can pay the prescribed fees via Net Banking/ Challan Payment

Admission Order:

  • After payment of the prescribed fees, candidates must download their Karnataka CET 2015 Admission Order and print it.
  • The details mentioned on the Admission Order will be verified by the allotted college authorities.

KCET 2017 Seat Matrix

The seat matrix denotes the number of Government seats in respect of Medical, Dental, Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy, Engineering, Technology and Architecture courses, as notified by the Government and published before the commencement of allotment of seats to the respective disciplines.

Instructions related to Karnataka CET 2017 Seat Allotment:

  • Candidates appearing for counselling and seat allotment of Karnataka CET 2017 have to get their documents verified during the process. 
  • If they are satisfied with the seat allotment, then they need to pay the prescribed fee. 
  • Once the announcements for Karnataka CET 2017 Seat Allotment are made, the candidates will be required to download and take printout of the Admission Letter.
  • Before finalizing the admission through Seat Allotment, the authorities will verify the particulars mentioned over the Karnataka CET 2017 Admission Order.

Karnataka CET 2017 Seat Allotment Procedure:

During the seat allotment process, in case a candidate is satisfied with the seat allotted to him/her, then Choice-1 on KEA web-portal will be exercised. While accepting the allotted seat in the first round if a candidate still wants to participate in the next round for higher order options, then Choice-2 on the KEA web-portal will be exercised.

If the seat allotted to a candidate in round one is not acceptable to him/her and he/she desires to participate in the next round for better options or higher order, then in that case, Choice-3 on the KEA web-portal will be exercised. Choice-4 will be exercised in case a candidate is not satisfied with the seat allotted to him/her in the first round, neither he/she wants to participate in any other rounds for better seat options. 

For Option 1: Candidates are required to download/print the Challan in Triplicate. The Challan carries candidates’ particulars like Name, College/Course Allotted details, CET Number, Fee to be paid and Bank Account Number. They must ensure that the printed details are correct. They are also required to affix their signature on the Challan. Once the Challan is downloaded by the candidates, they will be required to pay the prescribed fee of Rs. 650 for General and OBC, while candidates belonging to SC/ST Category 1 candidates need to pay Rs.500 at any closest branch of Central Bank/Indian Bank/Axis Bank/State Bank of Mysore/Syndicate Bank or in any computerized e-Post Office.

Once the payment is done, the respective bank will retain bank copy of Challan, while KEA and candidate’s copy will be returned to the respective candidate. After the payment, it takes minimum three hours for the candidate to download Karnataka CET 2017 Admission Order. Once the candidate has downloaded and taken a printout of the Karnataka CET 2017 Admission Order, they will be required to affix their signature on it. After that, the candidates need to report to the allotted college with original documents, on or before the prescribed date.

For Option 2: In case candidates are exercising Choice 2 while holding a seat in the first round, the need not to pay fee for the first round. Participating in the second round, the respective candidates’ allotted seat in the first round will automatically be cancelled if he/she gets a seat in second round. If the candidate is not allotted any seat in the second round, then in that case he/she has to retain the seat allotted to him/her in the first round.   

For Option 3: While exercising Choice 3, the candidates need not to pay fee for first round. Such candidates are considered to be refusing their allotted seat in first round and participating in second round.  

For Option 4: During this round, the candidates who are allotted seats in any discipline, need to pay the prescribed fee (in case not paid). They need to report to the allotted college on or before the date mentioned in Karnataka CET 2017 Admission Order.

Note: To avoid losing their allotted seat, they must update their details by logging in to KEA.
