KCET/KEA 2017 Dates, Registration, Exam Pattern

KCET is the state level entrance exam conducted by KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) for admission to various academic courses – Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology, B.Pharm. etc. KCET 2017 is scheduled for May 02 and 03, 2017.

KCET 2017 Application Form can be filled on the official website i.e, from January 27, 2017. All the candidates need to fulfill the eligibility criteria for KCET 2017 as specified in the official notification by KEA. Registration window for KCET 2017 closes on February 27, 2017. 

For admission to various undergraduate courses offered through KCET, candidates must have completed 10+2 or second year Pre-University or any other equivalent examination. Seats across different courses are reserved for various categories as per the prevailing norms of Government of Karnataka.Check KCET 2017 Reservation List.

Candidates can download the KCET 2017 Admit Card online from 3rd week of March onwards. The counseling process of the exam is expected to be in minimum 2 rounds. The duration of Karnataka CET (KCET) is 3 hours 30 minutes. There are in total 180 questions in Karnataka CET from 3 topics namely Biology, Physics and Mathematics. Exam would be conducted in offline mode and medium of KCET is English. 

KEA is expected to announce KCET Results 2017 in the month of May – 2017. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of KCET 2017 Cutoff released separately for various courses. Admission to MBBS/BDS courses will be offered through NEET 2017 and Architecture courses through NATA 2017.

KCET 2017 Exam Schedule

KCET 2017 will be conducted on 2 separate days. The language test for Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates will be conducted on May 04, 2017. KEA will also conduct a practical examination for candidates who want to claim seats under agriculturist quota.

KCET/KEA 2017 Registration will be open from January 13, 2017 till February 13, 2017. The entire online application process is in two phases. In the first phase candidates have to fill the details and edit the data. In the second phase candidates have to select the declaration item and pay the application fee. Follow the steps mentioned below to apply for the exam:

Application fee can be paid via Bank Challan or Demand Draft. DD must be drawn in favour of ‘Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority’, payable at Bangalore.

KCET 2017 Reservation 

Reservation Criteria of KCET 2017 is applicable for candidates belonging to Scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other backward classes. The candidates belonging to Karnataka can claim for the seats reserved. The candidates of SC/ST/OBC group should fall under 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B categories. There are special categories also, through which candidates can get admission by appearing in KCET 2017. Some of these categories are: NCC; Sports; Scouts and Guides; Defence; Ex-defence; Physically Handicapped; Anglo-Indian; Central Armed Police Force; Ex-Central Armed Police Force. 

The candidates who belong to Ex-Central Armed Poilce will be alloted seats according to merit only. Provision of Reservation for candidates of Hyderabad is also there in the norms of KCET 2017. The candidates belonging to districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary shall be regarded as the local area.

KCET 2017 Eligibility

Candidates interested in KCET can apply for the official website.You are advised to ensure that you hold the following eligibility before applying for the exam :-

  • Nationality- The applicant should be citizen of India.
  • Candidates must be class 12th pass with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidates also have Chemistry/Bio-technology/Computer-Science/Electronics/Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study.
  • An aggregate of 45% marks must be secured in optional subjects.

KCET 2017 Examination Pattern

The questions will be asked from 4 subjects namely Biology, Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. Each paper will be of 60 marks. Time duration of each paper is 80 minutes.Questions will be of objective type. For every correct answer you will get 1 mark.No negative marking is applicable.

KCET 2017 Results

The KCET 2017 Results will be published on  May 28, 2017.Candidates can check their result on the official website of KEA. Counselling process will start within 15 days of declaration of the result. After the declaration of results candidates document verification will be done by KEA University.

KCET 2017 Answer keys

KEA Authority will release the answer keys after the declaration of result. It expected to be be published on the official website by May 19, 2017. Firstly the authority will publish a provisional answer key. This key will be liable for challenge.Candidates will be given a period of 3 days to challege it. After that a final answer key will be released, Based on which actual marks of the candidates will be determined and results will be declared.

KCET 2017 Cutoff

KCET cut off will be determined on the basis of number of appeared candidates, previous year cut off, level of difficulty of exam, performance of candidates in the exam and availability of seats.
