Karnataka PGCET (KEA) 2017 Merit List

After the Karnataka PGCET Exam is over, a merit list or a rank list will be prepared based on the performance of the candidates in the exam. The list can be viewed online on the official website and not on premises on Karnataka Examination Authority. Karnataka PG CET Merit List would consist of Candidate’s Name, Candidate’s Gender, Application Number, Karnataka PGCET Number, Version Code, Karnataka PGCET Score, Course Rank.  If a rank has been allotted to the candidate, it doesn’t mean that they have a right to join college/ course. A counselling process or seat selection & allotment process will confirm the candidate’s admission.

Determination of Merit

The merit list for each course is published separately and is purely based on the candidate’s performance in Karnataka PGCET Exam. A few days after the results have been announced, the merit list will be published.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Merit Tie-Breaker

If the marks/ merit of two or more candidates is tied, then following method of tie-breaker will be used:

  • The total aggregate marks in the qualifying examination of the candidate will be marked. The higher qualifying marks will gain higher merit.
  • If the marks are equal again, then the age of the candidate will be taken in account, where the candidate elder in age will get higher merit.
  • Still if the merit is tied, the merit will be determined by draw of lots.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Merit for ME/ M. Tech / M. Arch (Full Time) Course

The merit of students for this course will be set for different classes of candidates which are as follows:

  1. GATE candidates: merit of GATE candidates will be evaluated on basis of valid GATE score.
  2. Non-GATE Candidates: Merit for Non-Candidates will be based on marks in the PG CET Exam.
  3. Sponsored Exam: Following order will be preferred in determining the merit of sponsored students:
  • Candidates employed in State Government Institutions / Organizations
  • Candidates employed in Public Sector / Aided Institutions
  • Candidates employed in Private Institutions / Private Sector Organizations

There is no age limit for sponsored candidates but in the determination of merit, candidates below the age of 45 years will be considered. If the candidate has quit the sponsored institution, they will lose seat under sponsored category.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Merit for ME/ M. Tech / M. Arch (Part Time) Course

The merit of students for this course will be set for different classes of candidates which are as follows:

  1. GATE candidates: merit of GATE candidates will be evaluated on basis of valid GATE score.
  2. Non-GATE Candidates: Merit for Non-Candidates will be based on marks in the PG CET Exam.

If the merit of two or more candidates is the same, then the tie-breaker method mentioned above will be used to determine higher merit.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Preparation of Rank List

The rank list will be prepared for VTU, UBDTCE and UVCE and for Kuvempu and Mysore University, the list will be separate but the procedure of merit list preparation will be the same. For admission to M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch (Full Time and Part time) Course, there shall be two merit lists prepared: -

  • One would be a list of GATE candidates in order of merit which would be inclusive of the valid GATE Score. This list would be called, ‘GATE Rank List (FT)’
  • The second list would be called, ‘PGCET Rank List (FT)’ and it would have merit list of PG CET-2016 candidates whose merit is based on their performance in PG CET exam.

Publication of Merit List

After the answer key of the Karnataka PGCET 2017 Exam is declared, candidates will have the options of stating any objections either through e-mail, speed-post or in person to the following address:

Candidates will send proof of their justification and Objections received from the candidates without justification shall not be considered. The expert committee of Karnataka Examination Authority will work on the final decision and publish the Final Answer Key. The Karnataka PGCET Result will also be uploaded soon after publishing the final answer key. The merit list of each course will be published on the official website. There will no request or applications for re-totaling or revaluation of OMR Sheet entertained by Karnataka Examination Authority.
