Karnataka PGCET (KEA) 2017 Eligibility

Karnataka PGCET is conducted for candidates seeking admission to MBA/ Part time MBA/ MCA/ M.E./ M. Tech / M. Arch courses. Candidates seeking admission to these courses are advised to check Karnataka PGCET Eligibility Criteria before applying. In case, Candidate fails to meet the Criteria, his/her application is liable to be rejected.

A candidate must have passed recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years’ duration or equivalent examination from a recognized university to b eligible to apply. Candidates appearing in the final year may also apply.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Here are the course wise eligibility conditions to know the minimum academic qualification for admission through KEA PGCET 2017.

A) For MBA

i) Full-Time MBA course

A candidate must have passed recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years’ duration or equivalent examination and must have a minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MBA courses. (45% of marks in Qualifying exam in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates)

(ii) For Part Time MBA courses

A candidate must have passed recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years’ duration or equivalent examination and must have a minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MBA courses. (45% of marks in Qualifying exam in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates). In Addition to this Candidate must have worked for at least 3 years after obtaining the degree as of July 31, 2016, in and establishment. The candidate organization must be situated within the radial distance of 40 km. from the Institution in which candidate seeks admission

B) For MCA

A candidate who has passed UG examination for any recognized institution or equivalent examination with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Applications or Computer Programming or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects and must have minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses. (45% of marks in Qualifying exam in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates). In respect of candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified above in Pre-University Course with fifty percent of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission.

Lateral Entry to 2nd year MCA. A candidate must have passed recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years’ duration examination in BCA, B.Sc. (I.T. / Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level and must have obtained minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates).

Note: NO Part time courses are offered for MCA degree

C) For M.E./ M. Tech / M. Arch

i)  For Full Time M.E./ M. Tech / M. Arch

A candidate with valid GATE score

A candidate who has passed qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority and obtained minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years / semesters of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates)

ii) For Part Time M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch courses

A candidate who has passed qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority and obtained minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years / semesters of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates)

In Addition to this Candidate must have worked for at least 3 years after obtaining the degree as of July 31, 2016, in and establishment. The candidate organization must be situated within the radial distance of 40 km. from the Institution in which candidate seeks admission. However, the employer has to fill up the NOC duly signed by the Qualified Authority.

iii) Admission to the Part Time M. Tech Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) shall be open to regular faculty working in Institutions in Karnataka state.

1) A Candidate who has passed B.E./ B. Tech examination (in the relevant field) of VTU or any other recognized University/Institution and have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (No relaxation in this case)

2) Candidate must have experience of at least One academic year, and

3) Candidates working place shall be within 100kms radius from the institution where they seek admission.

Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying exam with the minimum requirement of marks is eligible but also the candidate appearing for the qualifying examination and expecting the results is eligible to apply for Karnataka PGCET 2017.


Karnataka PGCET 2017 Eligibility Clauses

Candidates must satisfy one of the following Eligibility guidelines in order to be treated as Karnataka Candidates. Each condition is specified in the clause and is referred by a code. Each clause if followed by the set of documents to be produced during seat allocation process in order to support the claim. The candidates who do not satisfy any of the Eligibility clauses/criteria given below shall be treated as not- Karnataka candidate and will be eligible to select Only the seats surrendered by the management if any.

The candidates who do not produce the documents mentioned below will not be eligible for admission to PG courses under Government seats through KEA

For MBA and MCA the eligibility guidelines are given below

  1. The candidate must have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognized educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for at least SEVEN academic years (from 1st standard to Qualifying Examination) either continuously or in a broken period as on 1st July of the year in which the Entrance Test is held.
  2. The candidate must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examination from a Government recognized institutions located in Karnataka State.
  3. The candidate must have studied and passed the qualifying examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government.
  4. Either of the candidates’ parents should have studied in Government recognized institutions in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years.
  5. Son or daughter of ex-servicemen who at the time of joining the defense service had declared a place in Karnataka as his hometown, proof of such domicile should be obtained and produced from the “Deputy Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement.
  6. Further, the candidate should have passed the Q. E. from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India.

For M.E./M. Tech the eligibility guidelines are given below

  • The candidate must have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognized educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for at least 7 academic years (from 1st standard to Qualifying Examination) either continuously or in the broken period as on 1st July of the year in which the Entrance Test is held.
  • The candidate must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examination from a Government recognized institutions located in Karnataka State.
  • The candidate must have studied and passed the qualifying examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government.
  • Either of the candidates’ parents should have studied in Government recognized institutions in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years
