JEE Main 2017 Application Form - How To Apply

JEE Main 2017 Registration has started from Dec. 02, 2017. Candidates can appear for either Paper I (B.E. / B. Tech) or Paper II (B. Arch. / B. Planning). The application form is available in online mode only on the CBSE portal. Candidates must possess a valid aadhaar number in order to register online. In case candidates don’t possess aadhaar card then they must enroll for one.

Candidates should fill all necessary information such as paper details, exam centers, personal information, qualification details, etc. during online registration. Last year, CBSE did provide opportunity to candidates for making corrections in the application form after the registration was closed. However, it is always better to fill the details correctly in the first place.

Latest Update: Candidates can make corrections in the uploaded images of online application form. Login with JEE Main Application Number and Password to remove discrepancy in the scanned images.

All the successful candidates can download the JEE Main 2017 Admit Card from the first week of March-2017 onwards. Exam is scheduled for April 02 (Pen and Paper Based Test) and April 08 & 09, 2017 (Computer Based Test).


Registration for JEE Main 2017

Aspirants for JEE Main can go through the overview of ‘How to apply for JEE Main 2017”. The candidates can apply for JEE Main 2017 by accessing the JEE Main Registration window on the official website.

The JEE Main 2017 Application Form comprises 3 sections primarily:

  1. Fill the Application Form
  2. Upload scanned images
  3. Pay the examination fee

The applicants will receive an acknowledgment page after completing all the steps which they should preserve for future reference after completing all the steps. There is no need to send the print out of JEE Main 2017 Application Form offline.

Application Fee can be rendered following methods:

  • By credit/debit card/Paytm or
  • By depositing fee in cash in the Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank through e-challan generated during the online filling of application form.

Steps to fill JEE Main 2017 Application Form

The stepwise guidelines to fill JEE Main 2017 Application Form will help the candidates in completing the registration process smoothly. Candidates can check the detailed steps mentioned below for their reference:

Step 1: Visit the official website of JEE Main 2017.

Step 2: Click on the “Apply for JEE Main 2017”

Step 3: For New Candidate Registration, the applicants have to click on “Apply for JEE Main 2017.” Registered users can enter their JEE Main 2017 Application Number and Password to log in.

Step 4: Filling the Application Form

  1. Authentication Form: In this step, the candidates have to fill in the following particulars:

  • Submit the exam name they are applying for from these options- JEE (Main) Paper - 1 (B.E. / B. Tech.), Only JEE (Main) Paper - 2 (B. Arch. / B. Planning), Only JEE (Main) Paper - 1 & Paper –2 both.
  • They also have to choose the mode of examination i.e offline or online
  • Choose the medium of the question paper- English / Hindi / Gujarati.

  1. Choose Password and security pin verification:

Next step is to choose password for future login sessions. Applicants can go through the password related specifications that they have to follow while setting their password:

  • Must be 8 to 13 characters long.
  • must have at least one Uppercase alphabet
  • must have at least one Lower case alphabet
  • Must have at least one numeric value.
  • Must have at least one special characters e.g.!@#$%^&*-
  1. Review and Submit

The subsequent step is to review all the details that the applicant has filled so far. If the applicants wish to change any information they can click on “Edit credentials” or click on the “final Submit” option.

Step 5: Upload scanned images

After submitting the final details, JEE Main 2017 Application Form number is generated and the candidates have to upload the photograph and signature according to the specifications mentioned along with.

Step 6: Payment of Application Fee

The applicants are given the option of reviewing the JEE Main 2017 Application Form or proceed towards payment after submitting details.

  • In case the candidates submit the form and opt for paying the fee, they will have to choose the mode of payment.

  • If they choose the e-challan option, they have to print out the online generated e-challan and pay the fee at cash in the Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank.
  • If they choose online payment mode the applicants are directed to the following page where they have to choose the type of card payment and complete the subsequent steps accordingly to pay the JEE Main 2017 Application Fee.

Exception for International Applicants

In the case of international applicants of JEE Main 2017, they have to ensure that the board from which they have completed their Class 12 is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. The following exceptions are applicable for the foreign applicants while filling the JEE Main 2017 Application form:

OCI/PIO/Foreign candidates are not eligible for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs through JEE (Main) Channel.

State of Eligibility Rules: For Indian candidates qualifying from institutes outside India, they have to mention the state of eligibility on the basis of the permanent address of India as indicated in their passports.

For the candidates belonging to Nepal /Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO, State of Eligibility is not applicable.  While filling the Board Name in the application form, the candidates belonging to Nepal /Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO will select other.

A valid foreign passport along with a residential permit in India granted for educational purpose or a Student Visa stating the duration of the educational program.

The passing certificate of the Qualifying examination must have been recognized and approved by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) / Commonwealth Universities / International Association of Universities (IAU) as equivalent to the corresponding Indian Degrees/ Certificates.

Besides they can also access the “Student Registration Card Report” which will aid them in carrying out registration with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO)/Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO).


Documents required for filling JEE Main 2017 Application Form

The applicant should have the following documents in order to fill the JEE Main 2017 Application Form:

  1. Scanned image of photograph and signature according to the following specifications
  • color or b/w photograph (but clear contrast).
  • The photograph should have the candidate's name and date of taking the photograph printed on it
  • The candidates should not be wearing caps or goggles but they can wear spectacles.

  1. Aadhar card requirement
  • All the applicants should possess aadhar card. They have to enter the aadhar card number while filling the JEE Main Application Form. UIDAI will validate the data and if it does not match they will not be eligible to complete the JEE Main 2017 Registration.
  • For those who have not yet enrolled for aadhar card, they have to submit an application for Aadhaar enrolment at any Aadhaar enrolment center (list available at www.uidai.gov.in)
    CBSE has set up facilitation centers at each city (available on (jeemain.nic.in) for aadhar enrollment.
  • Those who have enrolled and not receive aadhar card, they can enter 28 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip during the JEE Main 2017 Registration process.
  • If Aadhar enrolment facility is not available at the facilitation center of CBSE, they can forward a request 
    for Aadhaar enrolment. Such candidates have to enter the registration number given by the facilitation center while filling the JEE Main Application Form.
    Exceptions: The applicants passing Class 12 from J&K, Assam & Meghalaya can enter any valid Govt. ID such as the passport number, ration card number, bank account number, provided they are applying for JEE Main 2017 from these 3 states only.

Candidates can remit the fee for JEE Main 2017 using Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card or using e-challan generated at the time of submitting details. The last date to submit application fee is Jan. 03, 2017. The application fee for Indian candidates mentioned below:

Check JEE Main 2017 Application Form Status

In order to check the JEE Main Application Form status, the candidates have to follow these steps:

1. Visit the JEE Main Official website.

2. Go to the Candidate login page.

3. Enter JEE Main 2017 Application No. and Password

If the "Download Acknowledgement Page" link appears on the screen then it indicates that their JEE Main 2017 Application Form is accepted. If they forget their log in details then they can click on the, "I can’t access my account link" option. They applicants have to provide details such as the DOB, Name, Parents' Name, State to retrieve the password.


FAQs

Ques. If there is no name and date on the candidate's photograph, would the form be rejected?

Ans. The JEE Main 2017 Application Form with no name & date on the applicant’s photograph is liable to be rejected. However, the Joint Apex Board in consideration of the situation would allow the candidate to take the test.

Ques. If I have forgotten to book the online JEE Main Exam date before the deadline, what can I do?

Ans. In such situation, the applicant is allocated the exam date randomly on the basis of the availability of accommodation at a particular center.

Ques. I have passed class 12th in the previous year, but I will re-appear for improvement, what should I enter in the qualifying year on my form?

Ans. In this case, the candidate can choose the year at their discretion, as they will have the provision of changing the scores to the scores of the year in which they did better after the improvement results are declared.

Ques. While paying the fee, what can I do in case of failed transaction?

Ans. In such situation, they can try once again to complete the online transaction or pay the fee via e-challan. In case, the amount is deducted and the fee is not paid during the online transaction, the amount is refunded within 7 to 10 days.

If the fee paid by e-challan is not updated then the candidates have to contact the concerned bank/branch for an update of fee or they can send the copy of paid e-challan through e-mail on jeemain@nic.in.

Ques. What is the difference in Pen Paper exam Versus Online Exam? Which is better?

Ans. There is no such difference between the two modes of JEE Main examination. It is the test taker's choice to choose the exam mode during the JEE Main 2017 Registration Process. Although online mode has an advantage that there is no chance of cutting in the answer sheet as is the case in offline exams.
