JEE Main 2017 Exam Centers

CBSE will conduct JEE Main, offline and online exam on April 2, 8, and 9, 2017. JEE Main 2017 will be held across 104 cities in India and 9 international cities. In comparison to 132 centers last year, CBSE has reduced the number of exam centers for the academic year 2017-18.

Latest Update: CBSE has added 2 new cities in the list of JEE Main 2017 Exam Centers – Kota and Dhaka.

Candidates can select their preferred exam centers at the time of filling Application Form for JEE Main 2017. The online application process will close on Jan 02, 2017. Candidates should opt for the exam centre depending on the mode of examination they want to choose – Pen & paper Based or Computer based. Applicants should go through the detailed list of exam centers given in the following article.

CBSE reserves the final right to allocate exam centers. The final allocated centre would be printed on the JEE Main Admit card along with venue details. All the eligible Candidates who have successfully registered for JEE Main 2017 can download their Admit card online from 2nd Week of March 2017.

List of JEE Main Exam Centers 2017

JEE Main will be conducted in both offline and online mode. Although the number of exam centers in 2017 is lesser than that in 2016, CBSE has made sure to have exam centers in all possible regions of India in order to aide students in appearing for the exam. 

While filling the application form for JEE Main 2017, candidates must keep in mind that not all centers will have the facility of both offline and online exam. So  a candidate should fill their exam center preference carefully. The list of cities where JEE Main 2017 exam centers will be located are given below along with their respective city code.

Note: 1. CBT Exam for all international centres will be held on April 09, 2017. Colombo, Kathmandu and Singapore will only have Computer based test venues for Paper I. Paper II for B. Arch. will be conducted on April 02 across all cities with Pen and paper based test centers and in Colombo, Kathmandu & Singapore.

Note: 2. In case of increase in number of students who have applied for test centres in Delhi, Candidates can be allocated any NCR location like Greator Noida, Noida, Faridabad & Gurgaon.

You are advised to choose your test centre with proper attention at the time of JEE Main application process. Centres once chosen will not be changed under any situation. In some exceptional cases decision of Executive Director will be final. In case of any tech glitches or difficulty, candidates will be allocated test centers in a nearby test city.

In case number of examinees for a particular Computer Based Center is less than 50, then such candidates will appear for the exam on the last allotted day of the computer based examination in the same city.

How to Choose JEE Main 2017 Exam centre?

Candidates have to choose JEE Main 2017 Exam Centres during online registration. The number of centres that one can fill in the application form depends on the mode of exam candidate is opting for. In case one is opting for Pen and Paper Based mode, then candidate can indicate preference for 4 exam centres while for Computer Based (CBT) mode, candidates can put preference for only 1 centre.

The choice of exam centre will also depend on the state of eligibility code as well as medium of question paper mentioned by the candidate during registration. The state of eligibility is basically the state from where the candidate has passed/appearing for class 10+2 exam or equivalent entrance exam or state mentioned in the passport in case of foreign applicant/OCI/PIO.

The option to provide preference for exam centre is available in the first step of JEE Main 2017 Registration when candidates are filling personal and academic qualification details .

Do's and Don'ts at JEE Main 2017 Exam Centers

Candidates must abide by all the guidelines and instructions issued by CBSE, at the exam centers allocated for JEE Main 2017. Failing to follow these guidelines can lead to the debarment of candidates from appearing in JEE Main 2017.

Do’s at JEE Main 2017 Exam Center

  • Applicants must carry the Admit Card, Passport size Photograph and Post Card Size Photograph affixed on proforma
  • Remember to carry Admit Card as without it the candidate will not be allowed to appear in JEE Main 2017 exam
  • Please go through the sitting arrangement and note down your room number and other relevant information that will help you in locating your seat
  • Before taking your seat make sure that you check your seat. If you find things like paper or anything, inform the invigilator
  • Follow the instructions given by invigilator in exam hall
  • Carry a Black/ Blue ball pen (only for Offline/Pen and Paper Based exam)

Don’ts at JEE Main 2017 Exam Center

  • Make sure you are not carrying any paper or electronic device/gadget (like calculator, mobile phone, digital watch, etc.) else it will be treated as the case of “Unfair Means” and your exams will be cancelled
  • Avoid answering the question you are not sure about as for every wrong answer marked, because of negative marking. This will reduce your overall score, affect your JEE Main 2017 rank and your chances of getting into a college of your choice will also get slim

Medium of Questions Papers Available at Exam Centers

JEE Main 2017 questions papers will be available in Hindi and English at most exam centers. However, at few exam centers candidates can attempt in a regional language as well. All such candidates are required to exercise the option of choosing the medium of question paper at the time of filling the application form.
