JEE Main Application Form 2018: Apply online
JEE Main Application Form for 2018-19 session will be available from December 01, 2017, onwards. The last date to fill JEE Main Application Form is January 16, 2018. Registration for Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE Main) is to be done in online mode only. Candidates can visit the official website of JEE Main to complete the registration.
Here are some key points about JEE Main Application Form 2018:
Candidate’s Date of Birth should be on or after October 1, 1993 (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/PwD. i.e 1988, will be eligible to fill JEE Main application form. Check JEE Main Eligibility
Applicants can obtain JEE Main 2018 Application Form from jeemain.nic.in. They must fill in all the asked details.
The next step will be to upload photograph and signature.
JEE Main application fee vary for Indian & foreign nationals, offline & online mode of examination and general/OBC & reserved category candidates.
Candidates from General and OBC Category will then be required to pay INR 1000 for single paper as application fee, while candidates from SC/ST category and girls have to pay INR 500 for single paper.
After successful registration, your application number will appear on the screen. Note it down for further use.

The filled application form need not be sent to the authority via post. Candidates who successfully register for JEE Main, will sit for JEE Main 2018 in April 2018. Qualifying candidates will then be eligible to appear for JEE Main Advanced.
JEE Main 2018 is tentatively scheduled for April 01, 2018 (offline mode) and April 08 – 09, 2018 (online mode) across 103 cities in India and 8 international cities. They can opt for any 4 centers in case of offline exam centers and only 1 center in case of online center. JEE Main 2018 Eligibility Criteria
The basic eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Main is you should be class 12th pass or equivalent with 45% marks in each of the subject (40% in case of reserved categories). Other mandatory requirements for clearing JEE Main Eligibility Criteria are mentioned below-
Applicants must have studied 5 subjects in class 12.
For B.E./B.Tech. candidates should have studied Physics and Mathematics along with one of the Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology.
For B.Arch./B.Planning. they must have studied Mathematics subject along with 50% marks in total including five subjects.
Candidates class 12 passing year should be either 2017 or 2016. Note that candidates appearing for class 12 in 2018 can also apply for JEE Main 2018.
A candidate can appear for JEE Main maximum of 3 times.
Candidate’s Date of Birth should be on or after October 1, 1992 (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/PwD. i.e 1987).
Important Points for JEE Main 2018 Registration
New users have to click on ‘Apply for JEE Main 2018’ link on the left side to proceed with the JEE Main application form filling process.
Existing users can enter login credentials to fill JEE Main application form 2018.
Applicants must possess a valid Aadhaar number to complete JEE Main Registration.
Candidates should also have a valid e-mail ID and mobile number for future correspondence.
Choose a password of 8 to 13 characters with a capital letter, a small letter, a special character (like @, _, etc.) and a number.
Details in the application form should be authentic. They will be verified at the time of JEE Main Counselling.
Candidates must submit scanned copies of recent colored passport size photograph with their signature and left thumb impression according to the specifications.
JEE Main Application fee for boys is INR 1000* and for girls is INR 500* (*fee is for single paper only). It can be remitted either by any credit/debit card or through e-Challan of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank.
Candidates opting for both JEE Main Paper I (B.E. / B. Tech.) and JEE Main Paper II (B. Arch. / B. Planning) will have to pay INR 1800 (Boys) and INR 900 (Girls).
One candidate is allowed to submit only one application form. Multiple applications are liable to be rejected.
There is a facility to edit a few details in the submitted application form. Applicants were allowed to edit and make corrections from January 21–31, 2018 (tentative).
How to Apply for JEE Main 2018?
The process of applying for JEE Main 2018 is broadly divided into 6 steps. Here are the steps to fill JEE Main 2018 Application Form:
Step 1: Visit the official website of JEE Main
Check for the link and click on ‘Apply for JEE Main 2018’.
Proceed to next step to register and login.
Step 2: Register and Login
Applicants must possess a valid Aadhar card number to complete the registration.
Provide all the requisite details while completing JEE Main Registration.
Choose a password and security question and enter their answers.
An application number will be generated after submission and it will be required in the next steps of Application Form and used for all future correspondence.
Candidate will be able to login directly for subsequent login sessions using their system generated Application Number and created Password.
Step 3: Fill JEE Main Application Form
Fill general details such as Nationality, Gender, DOB and identification type.
Complete the exam related details.
Provide personal details such as father’s name, residence, mailing address, phone number, guardian details and other related information.
Fill the academic details. Don’t get confused in CGPA and percentage.
Step 4: Upload Photograph and Signature
Uploadimage of the candidate’s photograph, signature and thumb impression on the official website. The specifications of the image are as follows:
Upload the scanned images of their photographs, signature and thumb impression should be in jpg/jpeg format only.
Size of the image should be greater than 4 KB and less than 40 KB.
Size of the signature image should be between 1 KB to 30 KB.
Size of the thumb impression image should be greater than 1 KB and less than 30 KB.
Dimensions of photograph image should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (Height) only.
Dimensions of signature image should be 3.5 cm (length) x 1.5 cm (Height) only.
Dimensions of thumb impression image should be 3.5 cm (length) x 1.5 cm (Height) only.
Note: Candidates can modify/edit their particulars before the payment of fee.
Step 5: Pay the Application Fee
JEE Main application fee can be remitted by any of the modes mentioned below:
Payment by Debit/Credit Card
Select Debit/Credit Card option to pay the application fee and follow the instructions.
Print the Acknowledgment Page after the successful payment.
In case, the acknowledgement page is not generated after fee remittance then, the transaction stands cancelled and the amount will be refunded to the account within a week. The candidate will have to begin the process of fee payment all over again.
Payment by Bank E-challan
Select the bank (Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC) to remit the fee through e-challan mode.
E-challan will be generated from the system containing particulars of the payment and the candidate.
Print a copy of E-challan and take it to the nearest branch of the selected bank.
Once the payment is confirmed by the Bank/CBSE, candidate needs to print the acknowledgement page.
In case, the Acknowledgement page is not generated, the candidate should contact the concerned bank/branch to update their transaction.
Note: Applicants who will like to appear for the Computer Based Examination of Paper – I should select the date/slot as per their convenience after the payment of examination fee. In case, they do not select any date/slot, they will be allotted that on a random basis depending upon the availability.
Step 6: Submit JEE Main Application Form
Duly completing all the details and payment of application fee, submit JEE Main Application Form 2018.
How to fill JEE Main Application Form?
The process of filling JEE Main Application Form 2018 is expected to start from December 01, 2017. Here are the stepwise guidelines to fill JEE Main Application Form 2018 along with the snapshots:
Step 1: Visit the official website of JEE Main 2018.
Step 2: Click on “Apply for JEE Main 2018”
Step 3: New candidates have to click on “Apply for JEE Main 2018.” Registered users can enter their JEE Main 2018 Application Number and Password to log in.
Step 4: Filling the JEE Main 2018 Application Form
Authentication Form: In this step, the candidates have to fill in the following particulars:
Exam related details:
Submit the name of the exam from the given options: JEE (Main) Paper - 1 (B.E. / B. Tech.), Only JEE (Main) Paper - 2 (B. Arch. / B. Planning),JEE (Main) Paper 1 and Paper 2 both.
They also have to choose the mode of examination i.e offline or online
Choose the medium of the question paper: English / Hindi / Gujarati.
3. Personal details: In this part of the JEE Main 2018 Application Form, they must the enter the following details
Academic details: In this part candidates have to fill academic qualification details of Class 10 and 12. The particulars to fill in this section are:
Mailing Address & Guardian details: Applicants have to enter their address of correspondence or residence. Additionally, they have to fill the details of their parents’ occupation, income, educational qualifications the JEE Main 2018 Application Form.
Choose Password and security pin verification:
Next step is to choose a password for future login sessions. Applicants can go through the password related specifications that have to followed while setting their password:
8 to 13 characters long
contain at least one uppercase alphabet
one lowercase alphabet
one numeric value.

Review and Submit
The subsequent step is to review all the details that the applicant has filled so far. If the applicants wish to change any information they can click on “Edit credentials” or click on the “final Submit” option.
Step 5: Upload scanned images
After submitting the final details, JEE Main 2018 Application Form number is generated and the candidates have to upload the photograph and signature according to the specifications mentioned along with.
Step 6: Payment of Application Fee
The applicants are given the option of reviewing the JEE Main 2018 Application Form or proceed towards payment after submitting details.
In case the candidates submit the form and opt for paying the fee, they will have to choose the mode of payment.
If they choose the e-challan option, they have to print out the online generated e-challan and pay the fee at cash in the Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank.
If they choose online payment mode the applicants are directed to the following page where they have to choose the type of card payment and complete the subsequent steps accordingly to pay the JEE Main 2018 Application Fee.
Exception for International Applicants
In the case of international applicants of JEE Main 2018, they have to ensure that the board from which they have completed their Class 12 is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. The following exceptions are applicable for the foreign applicants while filling the JEE Main Application Form 2018:
OCI/PIO/Foreign candidates are not eligible for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs through JEE Main Channel.
State of Eligibility Rules: For Indian candidates qualifying from institutes outside India, they have to mention the state of eligibility on the basis of the permanent address of India as indicated in their passports.
For the candidates belonging to Nepal /Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO, State of Eligibility is not applicable. While filling the Board Name in the application form, the candidates belonging to Nepal /Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO will select other.
A valid foreign passport along with a residential permit in India granted for educational purpose or a Student Visa stating the duration of the educational program.
The passing certificate of the Qualifying examination must have been recognized and approved by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) / Commonwealth Universities / International Association of Universities (IAU) as equivalent to the corresponding Indian Degrees/ Certificates.
Besides, they can also access the “Student Registration Card Report” which will aid them in carrying out registration with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO)/Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO).
Documents Required for JEE Main Application Form
The applicants should have the following documents in order to fill the JEE Main Application Form 2018:
Scanned image of photograph and signature according to the following specifications
Colored or b/w photograph (but clear contrast).
The photograph should have the candidate's name and date of taking the photograph printed on it
The candidates should not be wearing caps or goggles but they can wear spectacles.

Aadhar card requirement
All the applicants should possess Aadhar card. They have to enter the aadhar card number while filling the JEE Main 2018 Application Form. UIDAI will validate the data and if it does not match they will not be eligible to complete the JEE Main 2018 Registration.
For those who have not yet enrolled for Aadhar card, they have to submit an application for Aadhaar enrolment at any Aadhaar enrolment center (list available at www.uidai.gov.in)
CBSE has set up facilitation centers at each city (available on (jeemain.nic.in) for aadhar enrollment.
Those who have enrolled and not receive Aadhar card, they can enter 28 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip during the JEE Main 2018 Registration process.
If Aadhar enrolment facility is not available at the facilitation center of CBSE, they can forward a request
for Aadhaar enrolment. Such candidates have to enter the registration number given by the facilitation center while filling the JEE Main Application Form.
Exceptions: The applicants passing Class 12 from Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya can enter any valid Govt. ID such as the passport number, ration card number, bank account number, provided they are applying for JEE Main 2018 from these 3 states only.

Retrieving JEE Main Application Form Number and Password
CBSE has provided the option of retrieving both application number and password in case they fail to remember them. The steps to retrieve password is mentioned below.
In order to retrieve application number or password, candidates should click on “I can’t access my account?” In the new window, candidates have to choose either of the options as shown below:
Retrieving Password: To retrieve password, candidates should click on “I forgot my password.” In the next window, they’ll have 3 options. Candidates can choose anyone of them to reset their password
Retrieving Application Number: For retrieving the application number, candidates should click on “I forgot my application number.” In the new window, candidates have to fill requisite details to retrieve application no.
JEE Main Application Form 2018 Status
In order to check the JEE Main Application Form status, the candidates have to follow these steps:
1. Visit the JEE Main Official website.
2. Go to the Candidate login page.
3. Enter JEE Main 2018 Application No. and Password
If the "Download Acknowledgement Page" link appears on the screen then it indicates that their JEE Main Application Form 2018 is accepted. If they forget their login details then they can click on the, "I can’t access my account link" option. Applicants have to provide details such as the DOB, Name, Parents' Name, State to retrieve the password.
JEE Main Application Process for International Applicants
Candidates from OCI/PIO/Foreign categories are not eligible for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs through JEE Main Channel. The state of eligibility mentioned in the application form is applicable for these candidates. However, these candidates must ensure that the boards from which they have passed should be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
They are advised to check the admission brochure carefully for checking their eligibility as per the academic qualifications eligibility. These candidates might be asked to obtain the Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities like in the case in JEE Advanced 2018 registration procedure.
Documents required by Foreign Nationals
They should hold a valid foreign passport along with a residential permit in India granted for studies or a Student Visa for the prescribed duration of the concerned programme.
The Qualifying Examination/Certificates of the candidates must have been recognized and approved by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) / Commonwealth Universities / International Association of Universities (IAU) as equivalent to the corresponding Indian Degrees/ Certificates.
Foreign students can also obtain “Student Registration Card Report” which will assist them in carrying out registration with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO)/Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO).
JEE MAIN 2018 Exam Centers outside India
There are 5 and 8 exam centers for pen and paper based and computer based examination outside India. The computer-based examination will be conducted at Colombo, Kathmandu, Singapore, Bahrain, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh and Sharjah on April 8, 2018 (tentative). The pen and paper based examination for Paper I will be conducted in Bahrain, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh and Sharjah only on April 1, 2018 (tentative) from 09:30 to 12:30 while the Paper based examination will be conducted in all the 8 cities for paper II on April 1, 2018 (tentative) from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM IST.
Exceptions for International Applicants in JEE Main 2018
The Applicants from OCI/PIO/Foreign category are not eligible for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs through JEE Main Channel. However, they need to qualify JEE Main 2018 in order to appear for JEE Advanced examination. There are certain exceptions for the candidates belonging to Nepal/Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO category in the registration process of JEE Main.
These candidates will not select the state in which their school/ study center is located from where they have passed/appeared in the qualifying examination.
International candidates don’t require aadhaar number to register for JEE Main 2018.
If the candidate has passed 10+2 from outside India and does not belong to the Nepal/ Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO then they will select the state mentioned on their passport.
Applicants from Nepal/ Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO have to select “Other” in the Board Name column in the Application form.
JEE Main Form Correction
The JEE Main authority will issue the notice in accordance to JEE Main Application Form Correction according to which you can edit details that you have submitted while applying online. By chance, if the name is misspelt or the educational details entered are incorrect, then the applicants have the option to correct them from January 21-31, 2018 (tentative date).
Candidates are allowed to make changes regarding their personal details, academic and contact details.
They will not be allowed to change their exam centers and their mode of appearing for examination from pen and paper mode to computer based mode.
If due to changes made, the fee paid varies then the remaining fee will be returned to the account within a week.

Q. When can a candidate select the date of computer-based examination?
A: At the time of filling the form for JEE Main itself after paying the fee. If a candidate does not select the date for computer-based examination, he/she will be allotted the date as per the availability.
Q. If a candidate has passed in 2016 and has appeared for improvement in 2017, what should be filled in the academic details section?
A: Such candidates have to decide as to which percentage of marks i.e. 2016 or 2017 is better and according to that, they will have to select the year and corresponding roll number in the first step of application form of JEE Main 2017. The candidates who are appearing for improvement in 2017 and have passed class 12th in 2016 can fill the form using any of the following methods:
Select the year of passing class 12th as 2016 and enter the roll number, name of the board in the first step of the application form. In the second step of application form select ‘yes’ in the column – appearing for improvement examination.
Select the year of appearing Class 12th as 2017 and fill the remaining form correctly.
Q. In case photograph is not having name and date, would the form be rejected?
A: Applicant’s name and date on which the photograph is taken is to be mentioned on the photograph and in case uploaded photograph does not have name and date, the form is liable to be rejected. However, the Joint Apex Board in consideration of the situation would not disqualify the candidates and they would be allowed to give the test.
Q. How will an NRI or a foreign student enter his/her mobile number?
A: These Candidates will enter the mobile number of his/her relative residing in India.
Q. While paying the fee, what should the candidate can do in case of failed transaction?
Sol: In case, the payment status of online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not indicated by payment gateway in real time then fee payment will not be considered as completed. In this case, the candidates are required to pay the fees again either through online transaction or by e- challan and to download the acknowledgement page. Your amount of failed transaction of credit/debit card will be refunded within 7 to 10 working days.
Q. What will the language medium for the JEE Main entrance exam?
A: It will be available in Hindi and English Medium while the Examination Centre Cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli will also have the option of Gujarati along with Hindi and English.
Q. If there is no name and date on the candidate's photograph, would the form be rejected?
A. The JEE Main 2018 Application Form with no name & date on the applicant’s photograph is liable to be rejected. However, the Joint Apex Board in consideration of the situation would allow the candidate to take the test.
Q. If I have forgotten to book the online JEE Main Exam date before the deadline, what can I do?
A. In such a situation, the applicant is allocated the exam date randomly on the basis of the availability at a particular center.
Q. I have passed class 12th last year, but I will re-appear for improvement. What should I enter in the qualifying year on my form?
A. In this case, candidate can choose the year at their discretion, as they will have the provision of changing the scores to the scores of the year in which they did better after the improvement results are declared.
Q. While paying the fee, what can I do in case of failed transaction?
A. In such situation, they can try once again to complete the online transaction or pay the fee via e-challan. In case, the amount is deducted and the fee is not paid during the online transaction, the amount is refunded within 7 to 10 days.
If the fee paid by e-challan is not updated then, the candidates have to contact the concerned bank/branch for an update of fee or can send the copy of paid e-challan through e-mail at email@example.com.
Q. What is the difference in Pen Paper exam versus Online Exam? Which is better?
Ans. There is no such difference between the two modes of JEE Main examination. It is the test taker's choice to choose the exam mode during the JEE Main 2018 Registration Process. Although online mode has an advantage that there is no chance of cutting in the answer sheet as in the case in offline exams.
