JEE Main Normalization

The Percentile of a Candidate will be calculated as - 100 X NUMBER OF CANDIDATES IN THE ‘GROUP’ WITH AGGREGATE MARKS LESS THAN THE CANDIDATE/TOTAL NUMBER OF THE CANDIDATES IN THE ’GROUP’. Weightage for JEE Main score and Board marks will be as following - JEE Main score 60% and Board Percentage 40%.

Normalization is mainly used for indexing a large amount of ambiguous data in an unambiguous manner. It does not include any type of redundancy in the date but presents a clear picture of figures. To identify which subjects have been considered for all calculations, you can go through the eligibility criteria of JEE Main. In case of alternative subject best marks will be considered. Calculation of XII marks through normalization:

  • Let us say, A0 is the total marks obtained by students in JEE Main
  • B0 is the total marks obtained by students in five subjects in their respective board & their percentile have been termed as P. This score has been computed by considering all students of that board.
  • Estimate JEE (Main) marks with respect to percentile on all India basis & named it as B1.
  • Now, calculate JEE Main marks corresponding to percentile (P) with respect to set of marks obtained in JEE Main by the student of that board. Embrace this as B2.
  • Final JEE Main Normalized Score would be calculated as; Bfinal = 0.5 x (B1+B2)
  • The Composite Score is the criterion used for admissions in the CFTI’s which includes JEE Main performance of the candidate and the normalized Board Performance of the Candidate in 60:40 ratio. The formula used for the calculation is as follows:

C= 0.6 x A0 + 0.4 x Bfinal
