NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE/OFFLINE TEST
JEE Main 2017 Application Form was available on the CBSE portal at jeemain.nic.in from December 01, 2016. JEE Main Registration concluded on January 16, 2017. There are mainly 3 stages in completing the application process:
The last date to pay the application fee was January 17, 2017.
Admit Card is issued only to the candidates who have successfully completed the application process. It is essential to carry it to JEE Main Exam Center along with a copy of the Hall Ticket of Class 12th or equivalent.
JEE Main 2017 is scheduled for April 02, 2017 (offline mode) and April 08 – 09, 2017 (online mode) across 103 cities in India and 8 international cities. They can opt for any 4 centers in case of offline exam centers and only 1 center in case of online center. All the important registration dates for JEE Main application process are given here:

Here are the steps to fill JEE Main 2017 Application Form:
Provide all the requisite details while filling the online application form. Choose a password and security question and enter their answers. An application number will be generated after submission and it will be required in the next steps of Application Form and used for all future correspondence. Candidate will be able to login directly for subsequent login sessions using their system generated Application Number and created Password.
Upload image of the candidate’s photograph, signature and thumb impression on the official website. The specifications of the image are as follows:
Note: Candidates can modify/edit their particulars before the payment of fee.
The JEE Main application fee can be remitted by any of the modes mentioned below:
Payment by Debit/Credit Card
Payment by Bank E-challan
Note: Applicants who will like to appear for the Computer Based Examination of Paper – I should select the date/slot as per their convenience after the payment of examination fee. In case, they do not select any date/slot, they will be allotted that on a random basis depending upon the availability.
The application process started on 01 December, 2016. The registration date was extended to January 16, 2017. Here are the stepwise guidelines to fill JEE Main 2017 Application Form along with the snapshots:
Step 1: Visit the official website of JEE Main 2017.
Step 2: Click on “Apply for JEE Main 2017”
Step 3: New candidates have to click on “Apply for JEE Main 2017.” Registered users can enter their JEE Main 2017 Application Number and Password to log in.

Next step is to choose a password for future login sessions. Applicants can go through the password related specifications that have to followed while setting their password:
The subsequent step is to review all the details that the applicant has filled so far. If the applicants wish to change any information they can click on “Edit credentials” or click on the “final Submit” option.
Step 5: Upload scanned images
After submitting the final details, JEE Main 2017 Application Form number is generated and the candidates have to upload the photograph and signature according to the specifications mentioned along with.
Step 6: Payment of Application Fee
The applicants are given the option of reviewing the JEE Main 2017 Application Form or proceed towards payment after submitting details.
In the case of international applicants of JEE Main 2017, they have to ensure that the board from which they have completed their Class 12 is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. The following exceptions are applicable for the foreign applicants while filling the JEE Main 2017 Application form:
A valid foreign passport along with a residential permit in India granted for educational purpose or a Student Visa stating the duration of the educational program.
The passing certificate of the Qualifying examination must have been recognized and approved by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) / Commonwealth Universities / International Association of Universities (IAU) as equivalent to the corresponding Indian Degrees/ Certificates.
Besides, they can also access the “Student Registration Card Report” which will aid them in carrying out registration with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO)/Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO).
The applicant should have the following documents in order to fill the JEE Main 2017 Application Form:
Candidates can remit the fee for JEE Main 2017 using Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card or e-challan generated at the time of submitting details.The last date to pay the application fee was extended to January 17, 2017. Application fee for Indian candidates are mentioned below:

CBSE has provided the option of retrieving both application number and password in case they fail to remember them. The steps to retrieve password is mentioned below.
In order to retrieve application number or password, candidates should click on “I can’t access my account?” In the new window, candidates have to choose either of the options as shown below:
Retrieving Password: To retrieve password, candidates should click on “I forgot my password.” In the next window, they’ll have 3 options. Candidates can choose anyone of them to reset their password
Retrieving Application Number: For retrieving the application number, candidates should click on “I forgot my application number.” In the new window, candidates have to fill requisite details to retrieve application no.
In order to check the JEE Main Application Form status, the candidates have to follow these steps:
1. Visit the JEE Main Official website.
2. Go to the Candidate login page.
3. Enter JEE Main 2017 Application No. and Password
If the "Download Acknowledgement Page" link appears on the screen then it indicates that their JEE Main 2017 Application Form is accepted. If they forget their login details then they can click on the, "I can’t access my account link" option. Applicants have to provide details such as the DOB, Name, Parents' Name, State to retrieve the password.
Candidates from OCI/PIO/Foreign categories are not eligible for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs through JEE Main Channel. The state of eligibility mentioned in the application form is applicable for these candidates. However, these candidates must ensure that the boards from which they have passed should be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. They are advised to check the admission brochure carefully for checking their eligibility as per the academic qualifications eligibility. These candidate might be asked to obtain the Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities like in the case in JEE Advanced 2017 registration procedure.
There are five centers for pen and paper based examination outside India and eight centers for Computer based examination outside India. The computer based examination will be conducted at Colombo, Kathmandu, Singapore, Bahrain, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh and Sharjah on April 09, 2017. The pen and paper based examination for Paper I will be conducted in Bahrain, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh and Sharjah only on April 2, 2017 from 09:30 to 12:30 while the Paper based examination will be conducted in all the 8 cities for paper II on April 2, 2017 from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM IST.
The Applicants from OCI/PIO/Foreign category are not eligible for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIsthrough JEE Main Channel. However, they need to qualify JEE Main 2017 in order to appear for JEE Advanced examination. There are certain exceptions for the candidates belonging to Nepal/Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO category in the registration process of JEE Main.
The JEE Main authorities has issued following notice in accordance to JEE Main Form Correction according to which you can edit details that you have submitted while applying online. By chance, if the name is misspelt or the educational details entered are incorrect, then the applicants had the option to correct them from January 21-31, 2017. The official notification was issued by the JEE Apex Body for form correction
Note: Candidates are allowed to make changes regarding their personal details, academic and contact details. They will not be allowed to change their exam centers and their mode of appearing for examination from pen and paper mode to computer based mode. If due to changes made, the fee paid varies then the remaining fee will be returned to the account within a week.
A: At the time of filling the form for JEE Main itself after paying the fee. If a candidate does not select the date for computer-based examination, he/she will be allotted the date as per the availability.
A: Such candidates have to decide as to which percentage of marks i.e. 2015 or 2016 is better and according to that, they will have to select the year and corresponding roll number in the first step of application form of JEE Main 2017. The candidates who are appearing for improvement in 2017 and have passed class 12th in 2016 can fill the form using any of the following methods:
A: Applicant’s name and date on which the photograph is taken is to be mentioned on the photograph and in case uploaded photograph does not have name and date, the form is liable to be rejected. However, the Joint Apex Board in consideration of the situation would not disqualify the candidates and they would be allowed to give the test.
A: These Candidates will enter the mobile number of his/her relative residing in India.
Sol: In case, the payment status of online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not indicated by payment gateway in real time then fee payment will not be considered as completed. In this case, the candidates are required to pay the fees again either through online transaction or by e- challan and to download the acknowledgement page. Your amount of failed transaction of credit/debit card will be refunded within 7 to 10 working days.
A: It will be available in Hindi and English Medium while the Examination Centre Cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli will also have the option of Gujarati along with Hindi and English.
A. The JEE Main 2017 Application Form with no name & date on the applicant’s photograph is liable to be rejected. However, the Joint Apex Board in consideration of the situation would allow the candidate to take the test.
A. In such a situation, the applicant is allocated the exam date randomly on the basis of the availability at a particular center.
A. In this case, candidate can choose the year at their discretion, as they will have the provision of changing the scores to the scores of the year in which they did better after the improvement results are declared.
A. In such situation, they can try once again to complete the online transaction or pay the fee via e-challan. In case, the amount is deducted and the fee is not paid during the online transaction, the amount is refunded within 7 to 10 days.
If the fee paid by e-challan is not updated then, the candidates have to contact the concerned bank/branch for an update of fee or can send the copy of paid e-challan through e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ans. There is no such difference between the two modes of JEE Main examination. It is the test taker's choice to choose the exam mode during the JEE Main 2017 Registration Process. Although online mode has an advantage that there is no chance of cutting in the answer sheet as in the case in offline exams.
