IRMA 2017 Selection Procedure for Indian Students

IRMA has a 5 stage selection procedure for admission to PRM and FPRM course. IRMA 2017 selection Procedure will give weightage to CAT 2016 or XAT 2017 score along with the score of Issues of Social concern test conducted by IRMA.

The 5 Stages of IRMA 2017 Selection Procedure is detailed below:

  1. CAT 2016 or XAT 2017: IRMA initially used to conduct completely separate examination for admission to PRM and FPRM courses. But now CAT or XAT score has become mandatory for appearing in IRMA 2017 examination. Hence the first stage of IRMA 2017 selection procedure is clearing the CAT 2016 and XAT 2017 cut offs set by IRMA.
  2. Issues of Social Concern test 2017: Once the candidate has cleared the CAT or XAT cut offs, he/she has to appear in Issues of Social Concern Test conducted by IRMA. The students has to follow the detailed pattern of Issues of Social Concern Test and prepare accordingly before appearing in it.
  3. IRMA 2017 Merit list/Cut off list for GD and PI: Once the Issues of Social Concern Test is over, IRMA will declare a merit list based on this test and CAT 2016/ XAT 2017 for shortlisting candidates for GD and PI. The weightage followed will be:
  • Score of CAT 2016 OR XAT 2017: 80%
  • Score of “Issues of Social Concern (ISC)” of IRMA: 20%

Note: If an applicant has both CAT2016 and XAT2017 scores, he/she will be asked to set a preference for which score is to be used for their selection via an Email.

  1. Group Discussion and Personal Interview: Based on the Issues of Social Concern merit list, the candidates will be further called for Group discussion and Personal interview.
  2. Combined/Final IRMA 2017 merit list: IRMA will finally select students for admission to PRM and FPRM course based on the scores of CAT 2016/ XAT 2017, ISC test, GD and PI.

Normalization of Marks for IRMA 2017 Merit List

The normalization score for the final IRMA 2017 merit list will be determined on the basis of CAT 2016/XAT 2017 score, ISC score, GD and PI score. The candidates can follow these steps to evaluate their normalized score.

Step 1. CAT Score = C (out of 300)

XAT Score = X (out of 78)

Modified CAT Score = (C/300).160 =w1

Modified XAT Score = (X/78).160 =w1

Select maximum of either Modified CAT Score or Modified XAT Score

If candidate has appeared only in CAT or XAT then Modified CAT Score or the Modified XAT Score would be considered

Step 2. W1 + ISC score = W2

ISC score is obtained out of 40.

Hence the maximum possible marks for W2 becomes 160+40=200.

Step 3. W3 = (W2/200).50

Step 4. Normalized PI marks = Normalized Score of PI panels

Normalized GA marks = Normalized Score of GA panels

Step 5. W4 = Normalized PI marks + Normalized GA marks

Maximum marks of PI is 25

Maximum marks of GA is 25

Maximum marks possible for W4 is 50

Step 6. Overall marks = W3 + W4

Maximum Marks possible is 100.

IRMA 2017 International Students Selection Procedure

As of now International students are eligible to apply only to PRM course. For 2017 session, international students cannot apply to FPRM course. Besides they are not required to attend the Issues of Social Concern Test for admission to PRM course. Their selection procedure is hence different from that of Indian students. The international applicants have to undergo the following stages of selection for admission to PRM course.

  1. Selection for telephonic interview on the basis of GMAT / GRE Scores (taken on or after January 2011) OR CAT 2016 OR XAT 2017 scores. Telephonic Interview is scheduled for the February 23, 2017.
  2. Post Telephonic Interview (TPI) selection: The final selection will be based on GMAT / GRE Scores (taken on or after January 2012) OR CAT 2016 OR XAT 2017 scores and the TPI scores. The evaluating panels have a score normalization scheme which is as follows:
  • GMAT / GRE Scores (taken on or after January 2012) / CAT2016 OR XAT 2017 test will be reduce to equivalent marks of 60.
  • TPI score will be reduced to equivalent marks of 40.

IRMA 2017 Cutoffs

IRMA follows a normalization policy for the scores of CAT 2016 or XAT 2017 and GD and PI for deciding the ultimate cut off for admission to PRM and FPRM. The scores will be reduced to equivalent marks and assessed out of total marks 100 as follows:

  • CAT 2015/XAT 2015: 50
