IRMA 2017 Exam Pattern

IRMA 2017 will be conducted on February 12, 2017. The admit card will be available on IRMA official website from February 7, 2017. The exam is in multiple choice question format. The exam has 4 sections – Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Issues of Social Concern. The duration of the exam is 2 hours. The exam is conducted for admission to Post Graduate Programme in Rural Management (PRM) and Fellow Programme in Rural Management (FPRM). The candidates applying for IRMA must have completed graduation in any discipline. Check IRMA 2017

IRMA 2017 Exam Pattern

IRMA 2017 will guide the candidates about the nature of question, difficulty level and important topics for preparation.
IRMA 2017 exam will be conducted in online mode and is conducted in English medium only.

  • IRMA 2017 will follow Multiple choice question format.
  • For every question will have 4-5 options to answer from.
  • Negative marking will be applicable and 1/4th mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Exam duration is 2 hours.

IRMA 2017 Exam pattern is divided into four sections. Candidates must have an idea of the exam pattern and the format of the question paper. Read the following IRMA 2017 exam pattern to understand the nature of the exam of IRMA 2017

Analytical Reasoning

The questions in this section test the judgement, understanding, reasoning, and the ability to solve problems on the basis of Logic.

  • Analytical reasoning section will constitute of 50 questions. Herein, Candidates are asked to reason deductively from a set of statements, principles and rules that describe relationships among persons, things, or events.
  • Note: Candidate must complete this section in (30 Minutes).

English Comprehension

The questions in this section are designed to evaluate the language skills, ability to comprehend the information and answer related questions.

  • This section constitutes of 50 questions. Candidates have to read the passage carefully and answer following question on the basis of their understanding of the information provided in the passage.
  • This section will cover grammar related questions to test the grammatical knowledge of the candidates.
    Note: Candidate must complete this section in (30 minutes).

Quantitative aptitude

Quantitative Aptitude section will have questions to test the problem solving skill of the candidate. This section will include mathematical problems based on Data Interpretation.

  • Quantitative aptitude section will include 40 questions.
  • This section will have Data interpretation questions with Tabular questions, Pie charts, Graphical data questions.

Note: Candidate must complete this section in (24 minutes).
 Issues of social concern section will constitute of questions on social issues, current affairs, national and rural issues of social concern.

  • This section is unique in IRMA and candidate must be well versed with latest happening of both National and Rural importance.
  • Issues of social concern section will include 60 questions.

Note: Candidate must complete this section in (36 minutes).

IRMA 2017 Syllabus

IRMA 2017 has 4 sections primarily. Candidates must go through IRMA 2017 Syllabus exam to grasp the pattern and structure of IRMA 2017. Candidates appearing for IRMA 2017 must go through IRMA 2017 Syllabus.  
The IRMA 2017 will constitute of 4 sections: English Comprehension, Analytical reasoning, Quantitative aptitude and Issues of Social concern. IRMA 2017 syllabus will help the candidate to predict the type of questions and will facilitate easy preparation.
Analytical reasoning:

IRMA 2017 Analytical reasoning section will include questions like:

  •  logical reasoning
  •  Sitting arrangements
  •  Data analysis
  • Cause and Effect
  •  Coding- Decoding
  •  Data sufficiency
  •  Statement and Conclusion queries.
  •  Linear arrangement
  •  Other analytical questions that will assess the knowledge, skill and the ability to study group of facts and find out the correct or true statement.

English comprehension:
IRMA 2017 English comprehension section will include questions related to language and grammar assessment

  • .Comprehension passages
  •  Cloze test
  •  Sentence correction
  • Synonym and Antonyms
  •  Para Jumble
  • Other questions to judge the language and grammatical knowledge of the candidate.
  •  For comprehension passage, the candidate will have to read the passage and answer questions on the basis of their understanding of the passage.

Quantitative aptitude:

IRMA 2017 Quantitative aptitude section will include questions of data interpretation and mathematical queries. 
The questions are generally based on:

  • Number series
  •  Geometry
  •  Algebra
  • Probability
  •  Simple interest
  •  Compound interest
  •  Permutation
  •  Time and work
  •  Average
  •  Combinations

 NOTE: To attempt this section, Candidate needs a basic understanding of number system, mathematical problem solving ability and speed.
 Issues of social concern:

IRMA has designed this section to assess knowledge of the candidate on Current National issues , Social problems , Rural development, Rural economy, Rural management and other developmental issues. This section is unique part of IRMA.  Candidate must have a basic knowledge of syllabus to attempt this section.

Previous years questions were based on following topic and related subjects-

  • Questions on Indian economy: Statistics and reports of National income, Per capita Income etc.
  •  Human development index, Millennium development goals (targets and achievements).
  •  Important Personalities-Awards, places etc.
  • Five year plans – targets, accomplishments etc.
  •  Environmental issues: Conservation of resources, Ecology etc.
  •  Right to information and related case studies.
  • Public health system: Rural health schemes and policies.
  • Internet security: Internet –Free speech, IT acts.
  • Issues of Naxalism: Origin, Regional disputes and facts.
  • Rural poverty and development topics like Rural poverty alleviation schemes, Agricultural reports and development programmes, regional disparities.
  • Primary education: Schemes, plans, growth in education etc.

 NOTE: Candidate must keep a tracked knowledge of latest current affairs and events of national importance or Historical significance.

  •  There were total 50 questions in this section.
  •  IRMA 2017 Exam did not have any Grammar questions.
  •  The level of difficulty of this section will range from Easy to Medium.
  •  2 passage questions on:  a) Quality of National statistics and b) Contemplating National Policies and the difficulty level was rated between Easy to Medium.
  •  There were 6 Para Jumble questions and difficulty level was rated as Hard.
  • There were 15 Cloze test questions and the level of difficulty was rated between Easy to Medium.
  • The overall difficulty level of this section was rated as Medium.

Analytical Reasoning

  •  There were total 60 questions on this section.
  •  There were two sets of Sitting arrangements and included 10 questions- 5 questions each.
  • Data arrangement, Combination questions, Logical reasoning set and Mathematical reasoning were the toughest sections and the level of difficulty was hard.
  • Odd word/letter out, Odd man out, Data sufficiency were the easiest section and candidates can easily score in these questions.
  • The overall difficulty level was rated between Medium-Hard.

  • Maximum Questions were on Indian Economy – total 19 questions, Candidates must study Indian economy topics thoroughly to score in this section.
  • Difficulty level of questions Agricultural and Rural development schemes, Geography were rated as Medium to Hard.
  • The overall Level of difficulty was rated as Medium.
  • Candidates while preparing for IRMA 2017 must keep a track of latest general knowledge and must focus on the two most Important topics: Indian economy and Agriculture and rural development schemes.
