For each test paper in JAM 2017, an All India Rank (AIR) will be assigned to all the appeared candidates based on the performance of the candidates in the test paper. IIT JAM 2017 Exam Highlights
Candidates can read below the highlights for IIT JAM Exam:
- Exam Name- Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. or JAM Exam is conducted by all the Indian Institutes of Technology on a rotation basis each year.

IIT JAM 2018
The official notification for IIT JAM 2018 will release in August 2018. Candidates with a minimum of 50% in their Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for IIT JAM 2018. IIT JAM 2017 Result
IIT JAM 2017 Result will be declared on March 27, 2017 (Saturday). Candidates can visit the official website and login with their details to view their results. The admission process will begin as per the schedule present on the website. Candidates qualifying the exam can apply for the IIT JAM 2017 Counselling.
The IIT JAM question papers 2017 will be available on official website from February 18, 2017. Candidates may download the question booklet. IIT JAM Result 2017 is generated on the basis of IIT JAM 2017 Answer Key.
IIT JAM Rank List
For each test paper in JAM 2017, an All India Rank (AIR) will be assigned to all the appeared candidates based on the performance of the candidates in the test paper.
The tie-breaking criterion for awarding the ranks to candidates scoring the same aggregate marks in a test paper will be as follows:
The candidate with a higher ratio of positive marks to negative marks will be given a higher rank. If this criterion fails to break ties, the candidates concerned will be awarded the same rank.
The results (merit lists) will be declared on March 27, 2017 (Monday). The results will be available on the website: http://jam.iitd.ac.in. For each test paper, an All India Merit list will be prepared based on AIR. The number of candidates included in the All India Merit List will depend on the total number of seats available in each category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD) in a given subject. These candidates (henceforth called Qualified Candidates) are eligible to apply for admission to any of the corresponding academic programmes available (see Appendix-I) at IITs and IISc.
Please note that the number of category-wise (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD) candidates included in the All India Merit List will be based on the category declared by the candidates in their application. The Score Card (indicating the All India Rank(s) and the mark(s) obtained by the candidate) will be available for download in the JAM 2017 website from April 07, 2017 to July 31, 2017 to qualified candidates.
IIT JAM Cut Off 2017
Candidates can check the IIT JAM Cut Off for the minimum rank required to be eligible for the IIT JAM 2017 Counselling. IIT JAM Cut off is generated post declaration of the IIT JAM 2017 Result. The candidates have to fill the IIT JAM 2017 Admission Form if they secure the rank equal to or more than the rank mentioned in the IIT JAM 2017 Cut off.

IIT JAM 2017 Counselling
Candidates who obtain the ranks similar to the ranks in the IIT JAM 2017 Cut off qualify for the IIT JAM 2017 Counselling. Candidates must fill the IIT JAM 2017 Admission Form to seek admission in IISc Bangalore and IITs. The IIT JAM 2017 Admission Form will be available on the official website from September 2 till October 13, 2016.
Candidates can pay the fee for the IIT JAM Admission Form 2017 through only offline (E-challan) mode since only cash payment is acceptable. The fee for the IIT JAM 2017 Admission Form is INR 600. This fee is not refundable. After making the payment, get the SBI-stamped JAM copy of E-Challan scanned and upload the scanned image on the admission website in JPEG/PDF format.

IIT JAM Eligibility
Candidates seeking admission through IIT JAM must have a Bachelor’s Degree. Candidates belonging to General/OBC (Non-Creamy) category must have secured at least 55% aggregate in Bachelor’s Degree. The marks secured include all the subjects studied in the graduation in all the years, without rounding off the marks. The Reservation policy will be as per government norms. The candidates are required to submit the proof of passing Bachelor’s degree with the required Eligibility to give the entrance exam.

IIT JAM 2017 Registration
Registration for IIT JAM 2017 can be done at the official JAM website. Follow the steps given below to register and apply for IIT JAM 2017 before the last date of application submission.

IIT JAM 2017 Admit Card
Candidates who successfully submit the Application Form can download the JAM Admit Card from the official website i.e. http://jam.iitd.ac.in/index.php. The IIT JAM 2017 Admit Card will be available from January 10, 2017 till February 12, 2017.
A printout of the downloaded Admit Card must be brought to the test centre along with an original and valid photo identification. Please note that you have to give the details of this ID proof while filling the online application. No candidate will be permitted to appear in JAM 2017 examination without a valid Admit Card, and a valid and original ID. The Admit Card should be presented to the invigilators/JAM officials for verification.
How to download JAM Admit Card 2017?
The below steps must be followed to download the admit card of IIT JAM:
- Logon to http://jam.iitd.ac.in/index.php
- Enter Enrolment ID/Registration No
- Enter password and answer the arithmetic expression given
- Now download the Admit Card for JAM 2017
- Take a print for further use
Problem in downloading JAM Admit Card
In case a candidate is unable to download the admit card of IIT JAM, he must follow the below steps:
- Contact the Chairperson of JAM of the concerned IIT, under which at first you have to choose the Test City/Town of the candidate falls in.
- The concerned IIT will be contacted through email/phone/fax.
- The candidates have to provide the Name, Online Enrolment ID, Phone No., Email ID, City Code of the required test centre (first choice) to get the details about the Registration No. and the Examination Centre allotted.

IIT JAM 2017 Exam Centers
The JAM 2017 examination is conducted through a collaboration of eight zones.Candidates can make their choice of the IIT JAM 2017 Exam Center in their preferred zone. Candidates have to mention three choices of the IIT JAM 2017 Exam Center in the IIT JAM Application Form.
In exceptional circumstances, a change of examination City/Town may be permitted, if a request with a valid reason for the same is received in the office of the Organizing Chairman, JAM 2017, IIT Delhi, New Delhi- 110016, on or before October 28, 2016, along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- drawn in favour of “Chairman JAM IIT Delhi”, on any Nationalized Bank, payable at New Delhi.

IIT JAM 2017 Exam Pattern
IIT JAM 2017 is scheduled for February 7, 2017. In total, there are 7 test papers, carried out in two time slots. IIT JAM 2017 is an online mode examination i.e. a computer based test, where will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen. The test is conducted in two slots each of 3 hours duration with 3 sections. There are a total of 60 questions in English carrying 100 marks. Questions in Section A will have four choices of which only one will be correct. Questions in Section B will have four choices of which one or more answer(s) will be correct. Candidate will be awarded full marks only if they select all the correct answer(s) and no wrong answers. Questions in Section C will be numerical based where answer is a signed real number, to be entered using virtual numeric keypad on the monitor. There will be no choices and answer should be typed using virtual numeric keypad.

In Section A, the candidates are given 1 mark for every correct answer and 1/3 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. The questions carrying 2 marks for correct answer, 2/3 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking and partial marking in Section B or Section C

What is IIT JAM?
IIT JAM is the national level entrance exam conducted by all the IITs and IISc Bangalore for admission to M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D., M.Sc.- Ph.D., Dual Degree, M.Sc.- M.Tech. and Integrated Ph.D. degree programmes at IISc Bangalore. It was started in 2004 with the objective of motivating bright candidates for pursuing careers in science. There are 7 papers in IIT JAM on the following subjects:

Question: Can I use one e-mail address to fill multiple application forms?
Answer: No, one e-mail address can be used to submit only one application form.
Question 04: For how many JAM papers can I apply?
Answer: A candidate can apply for either one or two out of the seven JAM test papers. The choice of the appropriate test paper(s) is the responsibility of the candidate. Some guidelines in this respect are suggested below:
i.The candidate is expected to appear in paper(s) appropriate to the discipline of his/her qualifying degree and/or based on the requirements of the academic programme to which he/she desires to seek admission.
ii.The candidate is, however, free to choose any paper according to his/her admission plan, keeping in mind the eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he/she wishes to seek admission.
In all cases, the candidate must go through carefully the Information Brochure and/or the link 'Eligibility Requirements & MEQ' in the JAM 2017 website and check the Eligibility Requirement(ER)and Minimum educational qualification(MEQ) of the programme(s) in which the candidate wishes to seek admission before deciding on the test paper(s).
Question: I have a problem in uploading my photograph and/or signature and/or thumb impression to the JOAPS site. What do I do?
Answer: Please go through the How to apply? link for exact specifications for the photograph, signature and thumb impression files. If you create the files as per the specifications, then you should be able to upload the files easily.
Question: My netbanking account/debit card/credit card has been debited (money taken out) more than once. How do I get the money back?
Answer: This can happen if your bank account/debit card/credit card was used more than once or you pressed refresh or back/forward button of your internet browser. Any unaccounted or excess money that was received on behalf of JAM 2017 from this account will automatically be returned (credited) to the same bank account. Similarly, any unaccounted or excess money received from debit card/credit card account will be credited back to the same account.
Question: When and how will I know the status of my application?
Answer: You can check the status of your application by logging in to the JOAPS website.
Question: Am I allowed to leave the examination hall during the test?
Answer: No. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination hall for any reason during the test. Candidates are allowed to leave the examination hall only after the closure of the test at the scheduled end of examination in a session.
Question: What items are not permitted to be brought with me inside the examination venue?
Answer: Electronic diary, mobile phone, and any such electronic gadgets, blank papers, clip boards and log-tables will not be allowed inside the examination venue. Also, no calculators are allowed (programmable as well as non-programmable).
Question: Can I bring a calculator during the examination?
Answer: No. A virtual calculator will be available on the Computer screens for calculations.
