STATE LEVEL OFFLINE TEST

HPU MAT 2017 (Himachal Pradesh University Management Aptitude Test) is conducted by Himachal Pradesh University Business School for admission to the PG programme of MBA. HPU MAT 2017 is a state level exam and will be conducted on June 25, 2017. HPU MAT 2017 Application Process will begin in the month of May, 2017. Candidates can download the HPU MAT 2017 Admit Card from the official website a week before the exam date.

The HPU MAT 2017 Exam Pattern is similar to other management entrance exams. It will be conducted in offline mode and candidates will be given 2 hours to complete the test. HPU MAT 2017 Results will be declared on July 7, 2017. Qualified candidates would be called for further rounds of selection. HPU MAT 2017 counselling process will be conducted at the Regional Centre Dharmshala in July for those candidates who are able to score the qualifying marks.

HPU MAT 2017 Eligibility

The candidates must ensure that they satisfy the minimum HPU MAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria before applying for HPUAMT 2017. Ineligible candidates will not be allowed to take the exam. The detailed criteria is given below:

  • The candidate should have completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in India.
  • The candidate must have secured at least 50% marks (45% marks in the case of Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates) in their UG programme.
  • Those who are in the final year of Bachelor’s Degree may also apply for HPU MAT 2017.

Age Limit

For all candidates belonging to any category except for non-subsidized, serving or retired defence personnel, the maximum age limit is 26 years for boys and 28 years for girls, as on July 1, 2017. This upper limit is also relaxed for reserved category candidates and hence, the maximum age limit is 29 years in case of SC/ST candidates, both for boys and girls.


How to Apply for HPU MAT 2017?

The Application Form for HPU MAT 2017 is available on the official website. The candidates are required to download the application form and fill in all the details, then attach all necessary documents and send it either by hand or post. The address that the form should be sent to is given below:

Director, H.P. University Business School, Summer Hill, Shimla – 171005.

The completed application form should be sent along with the self-attested copies of relevant certificate/documents, admit card, result card, identification sheet and the demand draft for the requisite amount and three self-addressed envelope (size 9X4) with postage stamps for Rs. 6/- each on every envelope.

Following are the details to be provided on the various cards to be sent along with the HPU MAT 2017 application form:

  • Marks Card – name of the candidate, father’s name
  • Admit Card – name of the candidate, examination centres in order of preference, signature and photograph of the candidate
  • Identification Card - name of the candidate, father’s name, signature and photograph of the candidate, roll number of the candidate

Candidates must ensure that the photograph pasted on the application form is a recent passport size one. Also, care should be taken to paste the photograph using gum or a similar adhesive. The candidate must remember to self-attest the photograph.

Application form for subsidised seats

Following are the particulars to be filled in the application form for subsidised or general seats:

  • University from which the candidate has passed / is pursuing graduation in
  • Domicile state
  • Category
  • Examination Centres – any two in order of preference (Shimla, Solan, Dharamshala, Hamirpur, Mandi, Una, Palampur & Chandigarh are the exam centres)
  • Personal details like name, father’s name, father’s occupation, permanent home address, date of birth, student’s contact and email id, parents’ contact, annual income, correspondence address, HPU registration number if applicable and nationality
  • Educational Qualifications like marks in 10th, 12th and graduation along with streams opted in each class and name of institute from which passed each examination

A self- attested passport size photograph must be pasted and all relevant certificates must be attached along with the application.

Application form for non-subsidised seats

Following are the particulars to be filled in the application form for non-subsidised seats:

  • Personal details such as name, father’s name, father’s occupation, permanent home address, date of birth, student’s contact and email id, HPU registration number if applicable and nationality
  • Educational Qualifications like marks in 10th, 12th and graduation along with streams opted in each class and name of institute from which passed each examination

A self- attested passport size photograph must be pasted and all relevant certificates must be attached along with the application.


HPU MAT 2017 Application Fee and Payment

The application fee for HPU MAT 2017 can be paid by using a Demand Draft. The details of fee amount payable by different category candidates are given below:

Candidates must note that the Bank Draft should be of State Bank of India / Punjab National Bank / State bank of Patiala / HP State Cooperative Bank / UCO bank.

HPU MAT 2017 Admit Card

The HPU MAT 2017 hall ticket is the primary document to be carried on the day of the examination. Entry inside the exam hall will not be allowed to the candidates, in case they fail to produce their admit card. Those candidates who have successfully registered for the exam and made the fee payment on time, will be able to download their admit card. Candidates must carry at least two print outs of their HPU MAT 2017 admit card along with the necessary documents. A form of identification will have to be carried both in original and a printout. Aadhar card, PAN card, driver’s license, passport are all valid identification documents.

HPU MAT 2017 Selection Procedure

There are four rounds in the HPU MAT 2017 selection procedure and they all carry different marks. A candidate is rated based on all relevant factors and then the final list is announced. The distribution of weightage to the various factors is as explained below.

  • Application Rating (10% of the percentage of marks obtained in each exam such as Class X, Class XII and graduation) – 30 marks
  • HPU MAT entrance exam – 50 marks
  • Group Discussion – 10 marks
  • Personal Interview – 10 marks

Separate merit lists are prepared for subsidised seats and non-subsidised seats, after taking into account the total score obtained by the candidates for all corresponding factors.


HPU MAT 2017 Reservation

HPU MAT 2017 Reservation criteria for admission to MBA programmes except for seats reserved for non-subsidized candidates is as explained below –

  1. 15% and 7.5 % seats will be reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively, having domicile of Himachal Pradesh – irrespective of the institutions from where they have passed their qualifying examination.
  2.  The remaining 77.5 % seats shall be filled up as stated below -
  • 25% of the seats for admission will be open for all the candidates - irrespective of the institution from where they have passed their qualifying examination.
  • 75% of the seats will be filled by
  • those candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from the HP University or HP Krishi Vishwavidayalaya Palampur or Dr. Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, HP Technical University and Central University of Himachal Pradesh
  • The candidates who are Himachal Pradesh domicile irrespective of passing qualifying examination from any other university established by Law in India which is equivalent to the qualifying examination of Himachal Pradesh University, subject to the following reservations:
  • 5% of the seats will be reserved for outstanding sportsmen / women
  • 5% of the seats will be reserved for outstanding cultural activists
  • 3% of the seats will be reserved for persons with Disabilities
  1. The minimum eligibility for admission to a course in case of SC / ST will be 5% lower than the eligibility conditions for other students.
  2. One seat (Supernumerary) will be reserved for the serving / retired defence service personnel, if they fulfil the minimum eligibility conditions prescribed for admission.
  3. One seat (Supernumerary) will be reserved for the single girl child of Himachal Pradesh Domicile. Please note that the applicants under this category must attach a certificate from the Executive Magistrate.

HPU MAT 2017 Cut Off

The candidates wishing to gain admission in the post graduate management programmes offered by HPUBS will need to first qualify the entrance exam of HPU MAT 2017. For this, they must obtain the minimum cut-off marks decided by the exam conducting body.

The cut-off score varies for candidates belonging to different categories. It depends on the total number of seats available, the total number of students appearing for the exam and the difficulty level of the question paper. HPU MAT 2017 Counselling Process

The HPU MAT 2017 counselling will be conducted at the Regional Centre of Himachal Pradesh University, located in Dharmashala. Candidates will be called according to their ranks and will have to report physically at the mentioned venue.

The counselling procedure will consist of further selectin rounds of Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Based on their performance in the GD and PI rounds, candidates will be given some marks. At the end, the overall marks computed will be taken into consideration in order to compile the final list of selected students.

Seat Allotment

There are a total of 120 seats for the MBA programme at HPUBS. Out of these, 60 seats fall under the subsidised category and the other 6 fall under the non-subsidised category.
