GCET 2017 Application Process

GCET 2017 (Goa Combined Entrance Test) is a common entrance test conducted by the university of Goa for admission to the professional B. Tech program. GCET exam for B. Tech program will be held on May 9, 2017 and May 10, 2017. The candidates who wish to appear for the GCET 2017 Exam must complete the GCET application form by April 2, 2017. GGET 2017 application process commences in the month of January 2017.

The candidate must clear the minimum eligibility criteria for GCET 2017 to apply for the exam. The minimum eligibility requirement for GCET exam states that the candidate must have cleared class 10+2 with minimum of 45% marks. There is 5% relaxation in the minimum percentage for the reserved category candidates (SC/ST). 

The candidate has to download the GCET 2017 admit card from the official website by April 29, 2017. The candidate must bring the GCET 2017 Admit Card to the GCET 2017 exam center. Once the exam is over the GCET Result is expected to be released on May 14, 2017. This is followed by the GCET 2017 counseling and admission process.

GCET 2017 Important Dates

GCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must have cleared class 10+2 examination from Goa board or any other recognized board. The candidate must have cleared the examination with the minimum of 45% marks with physics, mathematics and Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology as main subjects. There is no upper or lower age limit for admission to the B. Tech course. The medium of instructions in class 10+2 must be in English. The candidates of reserved category SC/ST have to pass 10+2 with 40%.

The candidates who are pursuing B.Sc. Mathematics can also apply for admission to B. Tech course. The candidate must have cleared the graduation with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).

Applicants of Kashmiri origin as per the GCET 2017 eligibility criteria must have cleared Higher Senior Secondary Education with 45% marks. The main subjects must be English, physics and Mathematics. The fourth subject, in this case, can be chemistry/bio-technology/biology/computer science.

Students who have requested for revaluation/improvement/verification/supplementary examination of HSSC marks must inform about the same to the authorities. The candidate has to submit the copy of the revised mark sheet along with the letter to the Chairman, Admission Committee. The acceptance of the candidate in any institute will be done through counseling only with the new marks given. In case the new mark sheet arrives after the last date, the candidate will not be given admission.

The GCET 2017 eligibility guidelines will remain unchanged under all circumstances. The GCET 2017 eligibility list of all the candidates will be prepared and will be on display at the notice board of state university and also the official website. The list will contain the name of all the participants. The reason for the admission or no admission will be given in the list. In the case of any error found in the list, the candidate must inform the Chairman, Admission Committee. The letter must be written by hand and must reach the office within 24 hours.

GCET 2017 Application fee and Payment Method

GCET 2017 application fee by demand draft. The demand draft has to be valid for 3 months from the date of issue. The candidate must take a printout of the GCET 2017 application form and send it along with the demand draft. The demand draft of INR 1500/- must be drawn in favor of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji – Goa. The DD of any nationalized bank is acceptable. The copy of the GCET 2017 application form must be accompanied with the DD, three passport photographs and copies of the mark sheets (self attested).

All these documents must reach the office before the last date. Various centers are allotted for the submission to the GCET Application Form. The candidate must submit the GCET 2017 application form in person on the center chosen. The GCET 2017 admit card will be issued on the same day once the GCET 2017 application form has been deposited. 

Instructions for GCET Application Form Filling

GCET 2017 exam committee has defined certain instructions for filling the GCET 2017 application form. The candidate must read all the instructions carefully before filling the GCET application form. Check below the instructions for filling the GCET 2017 form:

  1. The candidate must check the eligibility criteria carefully before filling the GCET application form.
  2. GCET 2017 application form has to be submitted at the designated center in person.
  3. Application form must be filled by the applicant in his/her own handwriting. The application form must be signed by the applicant.
  4. The applicant has to affix recent passport size photograph at the designated places. One is in the GCET 2017 application form and other is in the acknowledgment form.
  5. The name of the candidate must be identical to the name on the SSC/HSC mark sheet.
  6. The candidate must provide the reservation details in the GCET 2017 application form.
  7. There are certain combinations of reservation details that are not acceptable. The candidates must check it in detail.
  8. Any request for a change in the GCET 2017 application form will not be accepted at any time.
  9. If it is found that the candidate has submitted two application forms then the form submitted in last will be considered valid. The older combinations will be canceled.
  10. The candidates who are submitting the form under the reserved categories must supply it with the reservation certificate. The absence of the certificate will lead to the cancellation of the reservation request. Such applications will be processed under general category scheme.
  11. No applications will be accepted after the last date of GCET 2017 form.
  12. The applicants are advised to submit the GCET 2017 application form at the Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim. The candidate must obtain the acknowledgment form as the confirmation of the submission of the GCET 2017 form.
  13. The application form if found invalid or incomplete in any regard will be accepted. This GCET 2017 application form must be checked thoroughly by the GCET 2017 application form collection in-charge at the center.
  14. The GCET 2017 application form received after the due date will not be accepted. Any delay in the postal delivery will not be accepted.
  15. The revision in the marks of the HSC has to be updated by the candidate. The candidate must update the Admission committee about the same through a written letter. The letter must reach the committee on time. The new marks will be considered for evaluation only for the candidates who have updated the committee.

GCET 2017 Application Process

GCET 2017 application process has to be completed in the offline mode. The candidate has to complete the application process and send the completely filled GCET 2017 application form to the office or other defined locations.

Steps to complete the GCET 2017 application process are given below:

  1. Open the web browser and go to the official website.
  2. Download the prospectus and the form is in the prospectus.
  3. Take a printout of the page of the GCET 2017 application form.
  4. Fill the form with the Blue Ball point pen.
  5. Affix the photographs in the GCET 2017 application form and acknowledgment card.
  6. Get a DD of Rs.1500 in favor of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji, Goa.
  7. Put the completely filled GCET 2017 application form, three identical photographs and the other important documents in an envelope.
  8. Go to the office at Panaji or other locations defined by the authorities to deposit the GCET application form in person.
  9. Deposit the GCET 2017 application form at the designated office and get the acknowledgment slip and GCET 2017 admit card.  

Particulars to fill in the form-

GCET application form requires the applicant to fill the details as follows:

  • Name: The name must be identical to the name in the HSC/SSC certificate.
  • Contact Details: phone number, email address and other details as asked in the GCET 2017 application form has to be supplied as asked. The phone number and email address have to be functional at all times.
  • Address: The address must be valid as the communication letter may be sometimes sent at the address given.
  • Date and Place of birth: The date of birth must be same as indicated on the birth certificate or class 10 passing certificate. The change in the date of birth will not be accepted.
  • Academic Details: The details of passing the class 10 and class 12 must be given in the header of academic details. The candidates who are appearing and have result awaited need to state the same.
  • Subjects and Center: The candidate needs to fill the subjects chosen for B. Tech course. There are 12 exam centers given and the candidate needs to supply one of the center codes where he/she wishes to appear for the exam.
  • Payment Details: The payment details need to tell the details of the bank and the amount stated on Demand Draft. The date of issuing the DD is also required.
  • Declaration by the Applicant: The candidate needs to sign the declaration stating that the details issued are correct by him/her. Any wrong information found in the form will lead to cancellation of the GCET 2017 Application Form.

Photograph Specifications

The candidate needs to paste two identical photographs in the form, at the locations asked. The photograph must not be older than 3 months. The candidate needs to supply 3 identical photographs with the GCET application form.

Documents to be submitted with the GCET Application Form:

The candidate needs to supply the following documents with the GCET application form:

  1. Statement of marks of HSC (Std. XII) or its equivalent examination
  2. Birth certificate issued by the competent authorities
  3. Residence proof by competent authorities
  4. Transfer certificate issued by headmaster/ principal of the institutes
  5. “Income certificate” issued by the competent authorities
  6. Reservation (SC/ST/OBC/PH) certificate issued by competent authorities.
  7. Domicile certificate for the candidates who had grandparents living in Goa
  8. NRI/PIO candidates have to produce the nationality certificate of the country in which he/she is living.
