GATE 2017 Exam Centers – List of all the Exam centers with the corresponding zone of GATE 2017 Exam is given below. Candidates can check the list of all exam centers and can choose the most convenient exam centers. Usually the candidates are allotted their first preference. They can choose upto 3 GATE Exam Centers.

GATE 2017 will be held zonal wise. If you select a particular city as your first choice then the corresponding zone to which the center city belongs will appear. After that, you will be able to download the exam cities from particular GATE Zone. There are a total of 8 zonal offices of GATE and 195 exam centers across India. How to choose GATE 2017 Exam Center?

  • Candidates have to choose 3 GATE Exam Centres 2017 according to their preference from the below list while filling the GATE 2017 Form.
  • Candidates can choose any center in any city from the list. There is no restriction of exam centres being under the same zone for GATE 2017.

Note that due to operational constraints, the GATE 2017 committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one. It can allot a city that may not be included in the choices of the candidates. Whichever center is alloted to the candidate, it will be mentioned in the GATE Admit card along with the center details.

How to change Exam City?

Candidates can change their exam city in GATE application form form November 15 – 26, 2016. This change will be done through official website. Candidates have to pay fee of Rs 400 against the changes in application form. Fee payment will be done online only. No challan will be accepted. Candidates have to login in their GOAPS account and change their exam center.

Instructions for The GATE Exam Center

Below mentioned are a few important instructions that the candidates are required to follow regarding the GATE Exam center.

  • You will be permitted to enter in the exam center only with a valid GATE 2017 Admit Card.
  • You are required to reach the exam center 60 minutes prior the exam conduct.
  • Scribble pads will be provided to you for the rough work and it must be returned back after the exam.
  • A virtual scientific calculator will be provided for the calculation work, you need not to bring scientific calculator there.
  • You are not permitted to leave the exam hall during the exam.
  • You are not allowed to enter the exam after 9:30 AM (for morning session) and 14:30 PM (for afternoon session).
  • You will be permitted only if your credentials are verified by the center officials.

More about Virtual Calculator

In the exam center, students are not permitted to enter with the electronic media including scientific calculator and the log tables. In earlier, aspirants were allowed with the scientific calculator for calculations. But now it is abandoned in the exam hall. For calculation work, GATE Portal provides online scientific calculator. You can use it for calculations on screen. This on screen calculator will be the same as physical scientific calculator. One more thing to keep in mind that, you cannot use keyboard keys for using virtual calculator.


Do’s At The GATE Exam Centers

  • The Examination Hall shall be opened 35 minutes before the beginning of the examination. Candidates can enter and take their allotted seats immediately after the opening of the examination hall.
  • If the candidate fails to reach the examination hall in the prescribed time he/she shall miss few important instructions to be announced at the center.
  • The candidate must show the admit card when asked for entering the examination hall.
  • A seat with a specific roll number shall be allotted to each candidate. The candidate must carefully find and occupy the allotted seat only. In case the candidate is found in a different examination room or on a different seat then his/her candidature shall be cancelled.
  • The candidates should check and sign the attendance sheet carefully. He/she must provide his/her signature at appropriate place. The candidates need to provide a left hand thumb impression during attendance.
  • The admit cards of the candidate shall be checked by the invigilator during the examination to confirm the identity of the candidate.
  • All the candidates are requested to carry their admit cards along with the ID card and two ball point pens for the examination.

Don’ts At The GATE Exam Center

  • Any other material rather than Pens, Pencils, Admit Card and ID Proof won’t be allowed inside the examination hall.
  • The candidate who is not bearing a valid admit cardand identity proof shall not be allowed inside by the Centre Superintendent.
  • Any textual material (written or printed), any bits of paper or any unwanted material shall not be permitted inside the examination hall.
  • Any electronic gadget like calculators, digital watches, cell phones or geometry box, log tables, slide rules etc. are banned inside the examination hall. The candidates are advised not to carry any of these banned devices including the cellphone as the exam center authorities do not guarantee the safety of such devices.
  • The candidate won’t be permitted to leave his/her allocated seat before the indication of conclusion of the examination.
  • The examination will begin exactly on the time mentioned in the admit card. There will be bell signals to indicate the beginning and ending time of exam. The candidates need to stop making responses on this indication.
  • In case any registered candidate doesn’t appear for the examination due to any reason, there shall be no re-examination for such candidates under any circumstances.
