GATE Registration and Application form 2017

GATE 2017 Registration is over. Candidates can check their application form status from the official website. Candidates who have successfully applied for GATE 2017 can download their admit card from January 5, 2017.

  • GATE 2017 Application Process began on September 1, 2017.
  • GATE Application fee is Rs 750 for SC/ST/Women/PWD candidates. Rest of the candidates have to pay Rs 1500. Note that GATE application fee is non refundable.
  • Around 263 GATE applications have been rejected. Check list of Rejected GATE Applications
  • Authority has refunded extra payment if any. Candidates who have not received the payment can mail at gateiitr.2017@gmail.com with subject Extra Payment Refund Request.

How to fill GATE 2017 Application Form?

GATE 2017 Application form can be filled online on http://appsgate.iitr.ac.in/.  It is done through GOAPS. It stands for Gate Online Application Processing System. The application process includes 4 steps:-

Step-1 Registration through GOAPS

Step-2 Filling GATE Application Form

Step-3 Uploading of Photograph, Signature and required documents

Step-4 Application Fee Payment

Step 1 – Registration through GOAPS

  • Visit the official website
  • Click on the New User link
  • Enter the Name, Email id and Phone number for registration
  • Click on Submit
  • Note down GOAPS id number 
  • Keep this number safe as you can require it in future

Step 2 – Fill up the Application Form

Login the portal with the enrollment id and the password.

Choose GATE Exam Centers: You can choose any three test centers/cities for GATE exam

Enter Personal Details: Now enter Date of Birth, Your personal mobile number, parent’s name, nationality etc.

Enter Academic Details: Enter all qualification details of Degree Examination, year of qualification, College and address.

Enter your Address:  Enter your residential address, pin code, id proof, etc.

Step-3 Uploading of Photographs and Signature

Now upload the scanned copy of photograph, Signature, category certificate, left hand thumb impression, degree certificate in the prespecified format and specifications.

Signature – Take A4 sheet and draw a rectangular box 2cm * 6cm and sign in running hand with the help of blue or black ball point pen within box. Scan that image and save it in JPEG format.

Specifications: The maximum pixel resolution 160*560 and minimum pixel resolution is 80*280.

Photograph –The photo must be taken in light background. 75% of Photo Area must covered with candidate’s face. It should be taken after August 1, 2017. The maximum resolution for the image is 480*640 and minimum resolution is 240*320. The image must in standard size of 3.5 cm * 4.5 cm in JPEG format.

Thumb Impression – Take A4 sheet and draw box of 3cm * 5cm. Put your  thumb impression in the box. Scan the image and save it in JPEG format. The maximum resolution for the image is 160*560 and minimum resolution is 80*280.

Step 4 – Fee Payment

The application fee for Male and other candidates is Rs. 1500 and for SC/ST/PwD/All women is Rs. 750. International candidates have to pay 50 US Dollars. The fee can be paid using net banking or credit card or e-challan. There will be extra charges also applicable as per banks.

GATE Form Correction 2017

Candidates are given an opportunity to make changes in filled in GATE 2017 application form. The changes can be done against the payment of nominal fee. Candidates can check the charges on the official website. The amount of the changes is provided below. There will be no challan facility available. (Last date of GATE Form Correction is over)

Note : If any candidate wants to change his/her category from General/OBC to SC/ST. They have to send a mail to gateiitr.2017@gmail.com during 14th November 2016 (11.30 AM) to 20th November 2016 (6.00 PM). Email must have Name, Enrollment ID, Category Change with proper documents in attachment. There shall be NO refund of fees for this change. The subject of the mail should be Gen/OBC to SC/ST. 

Candidates can do limited corrections in application form. They can only make changes in exam center, category and gender. Therefore they are advised to do corrections carefully. After the corrections candidate can check the GATE form status for the successful submission.
